Jon Nurse: Faces late fitness test

Jon Nurse: Faces late fitness test

Barnet will check on Jon Nurse.

Nurse suffered concussion against York last weekend and was subsequently ruled out of Saturday's goalless draw against Rochdale.

The Bees are still without fellow forwards Steve Kabba (knee) and Ricky Holmes (foot), so Stevenage loanee Dani Lopez will keep his place up front following his lively full debut against Dale.

One of Nurse, Jake Hyde and recent signing Craig Beattie will join Lopez in attack.

Bondz N'Gala overcame a head injury to make his full debut following his loan switch from Stevenage and he too should retain his place in the back four.

Graham Stack continues in goal with Liam O'Brien still recovering from a long-term groin injury.

Chris Barker, Ryan Leonard and Ben Reeves will all be assessed by Southend.

Captain Barker, who has only recently returned from a calf injury, was forced off in the first half of Saturday's 2-1 win at Wycombe nursing an Achilles problem and will be checked over.

As will midfielders Leonard and Reeves after they both picked up knocks at the weekend.

Manager Paul Sturrock is already without Mark Phillips (broken toe), Marc Laird, Caolan Lavery (both hamstring), Gavin Tomlin (thigh), Michael Timlin (broken leg) and Bilel Mohsni (suspension).

The Shrimpers currently find themselves just two points outside the play-off places and six adrift of the top three as they make the short trip to Underhill.
