Bilel Mohsni: Returns for Shrimpers

Southend welcome back Bilel Mohsni.

Mohsni returned from exile to make a surprise start in the 2-1 defeat to Northampton earlier this month, his first appearance for the club this season, but was duly sent off in the first half.

The versatile Frenchman has now completed his three-match suspension and is a welcome addition to manager Paul Sturrock's squad.

It comes at a time when captain Chris Barker (Achilles), midfielder Marc Laird (hamstring) and influential striker Gavin Tomlin (thigh) remain sidelined but look likely to return within the next couple of weeks.

Mark Phillips (broken toe) is expected to be out for longer, while Michael Timlin is sidelined for the remainder of the season with his broken leg.

Rotherham are likely to be without Daniel Kearns for the trip.

The on-loan winger suffered a hamstring injury in last week's win at Bristol Rovers and is yet to recover.

Daniel Nardiello, who has been suffering with groin trouble, asked to come off before he grabbed the late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with York, and manager Steve Evans rates the former Manchester United striker at 50/50 for the clash at Roots Hall.

Evans could well be tempted to make a change after the flat performance against the Minstermen, with Ben Pringle, Michael O'Connor, Kayode Odejayi and Courtney Cameron all pushing for a shirt.

Craig Morgan is also hoping for a recall after a lengthy absence with a broken foot, while goalkeeper Scott Shearer has returned to training following surgery to repair an elbow injury.

The Millers travel to Essex hoping to keep their automatic promotion hopes in tact and avenge a 4-0 home defeat to the Shrimpers in October's reverse fixture.

"They beat us fair and square," said Evans. "It was four and it could have been more, the players accept they let themselves down. But this is a different dressing room now."
