FT: Manchester City 2 Arsenal 0

Two goals in four minutes at the end of the first half give Manchester City a 2-0 win over Premier League rivals Arsenal amid a torrential downpour in Beijing. Stay with us for all the post-match reaction.

90 FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 2 ARSENAL 0

90 On the brink of the full-time whistle, Aguero is replaced by Marcos Lopes.

89
Arsenal will rue the defensive mistakes they made at the end of the first half which have seemingly condemned them to defeat in Beijing.

88 Denis Suarez comes on for City in place of Razak.

87
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a livewire since coming on. Another long-range piledriver flies just wide of the far post.

86
More nice passing from Arsenal. But they have just four minutes of normal time remaining and are going nowhere.

85
An Oxlade-Chamberlain cross into the penalty area from the right causes a slightly nervy, diving flap from Pantilimon. City just about survive.

84
Tevez has had a good game and is rewarded with a late substitution. Youngster George Evans comes on.

83
Puddles are beginning to emerge on the pitch surface.

82
The free-kick is rolled to Vermaelen, who aims to blast a shot on target. However, it goes into a crowd of City defenders and does not trouble Pantilimon.

81
Oxlade-Chamberlain wins a free-kick for Arsenal on the left-hand corner of City's box. This is a chance for a shot.

80
In this rain and with just 10 minutes now remaining, both sides look like they would quite like the full-time whistle. The ball is not rolling properly and there are splashes when it bounces. In the heat, this will have been hard work for the players.

79
Eisfeld almost scores with what might have been his first touch. He is set up by a clever backheel from Chamakh and drags his low shot just wide of the far post.

78 At the break in play, both sides make substitutions. Arsenal replace song with Thomas Eisfeld. City send on Adam Johnson in place of the excellent Yaya Toure.

77
Pantilimon tips a curling effort from Gibbs behind for a corner. The set-piece is then defended for another corner to Arsenal.

76
The pace has been dropping in this game for the past 10 minutes or so. Players on both teams are looking a bit 'leggy'.

75
Zabaleta appears to have enjoyed the role of a wing-back. The Argentine again scampers down the right and sends in a cross. Arsenal manage to defend at the near post.

74
We have a break in play. Razak is down on the deck after taking a knee in the back. He is now back on his feet and seems to be okay.

73
Aneke tests Pantilimon from 25 yards after beating Biton with a tidy piece of control.

72
Tevez is beginning to trudge around the pitch. He looks as if he is becoming a little tired.

71
Chamakh attempts to get on the end of a Song pass. Kolo Toure defends, even though he is a little fortunate to see the ball deflect off team-mate Boyata.

70
City almost make Arsenal pay. Tevez has too much pace to leave Coquelin standing down the City right. Tevez rolls a pass into the path of Aguero. But his chipped finish drifts just wide of the post.

69
Arsenal are playing the game in City's half. But they are not really testing Pantilimon other than that earlier Gervinho effort.

68
Gibbs steps in to break up play and then has the chance to cross from the left. City, though, can clear through a combination of players, including Razak.

67
City are more than happy to soak up this pressure in what is still torrential rain. They are simply looking to counter-attack and still have a host of experienced players on the field in comparison with quite a lot of Arsenal youngsters.

66
Aneke almost has an immediate impact when linking up with Afobe inside the penalty area. However, again, Arsenal are flagged offside.

65 More changes for Arsenal. Gervinho and Jenkinson are replaced by Chuks Aneke and Craig Eastmond.

64
Tevez leads the counter-attack. It is two attackers versus two defenders. Tevez, though, cannot pass to Aguero and Vermaelen intercepts.

63
With Arteta now off the field, Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken over the corner duties. His delivery is cleared at the near post and then City break.

62
Chamakh has done little since being introduced. Arsenal fans will still be unconvinced by the striker. Arsenal, though, are continuing to do all the attacking and win a corner.

61
Afobe is playing on the left-hand side after coming on as Arsenal look for a way back into the game.

60 Gervinho thinks he is through on goal. However, he is offside. Arsenal have sent on Benik Afobe in place of Santos.

59
Nasty from Jenkinson as he gives away a free-kick for an elbow in the face of Kolarov. It might not have been intentional.

58
Song loops a trademark pass into the City box. However, it is too high for any team-mate and floats out for a goal-kick.

57 Dedryck Boyata comes on in place of Kompany

56
Terrible luck for Oxlade-Chamberlain as his 25-yard right-footer hits one post, flies across the face of goal, strikes the other post and deflects behind.

55
Good play from half-time introduction Coquelin as he shows his fresh legs to make two sprints to close down City in midfield.

54
Kompany's head drops when he moves over the halfway line only to play a pass straight to Arsenal. He has to make the long run back to cover in defence.

53
Zabaleta, who was my unsung hero of last season, almost breaks clear down the right from a Tevez pass. Zabaleta is flagged offside. But, again the far side full-back is playing him onside.

52
Excellent save from Pantilimon denies Gervinho from inside the penalty area. But, with time and space, it was a poor finish.

51
It is Arsenal on the front foot in the opening stages of the second half. City are dropping deep in protection of their lead.

50
In their quest to find a way back into this game, Vermaelen is currently in the centre-forward position after charging up field.

49
Terrible decision from one of the assistant referee's as they flag Aguero offside. He was being played on clearly by Gibbs.

48
Gervinho has moved out to the right of the Arsenal attack following the introduction of Chamakh.

47
Players are already struggling to keep their feet in the downpour in Beijing.

46 Arsenal have sent on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Francis Coquelin, Ignasi Miquel and Marouane Chamakh in place of Walcott, Bartley, Arteta and Diaby.

WE'RE BACK: Arsenal get the second half under way. The heavy rain that was forecast is now falling at the Bird's Nest stadium.

45 HALF-TIME: MAN CITY 2 ARSENAL 0

Jenkinson is again nowhere to be seen as Kolarov breaks down the left. His cross is played back across the face of goal by Aguero and Toure taps in. Arsenal want an offside flag but the goal stands.

44 GOAL YAYA TOURE (2-0)!!!

43
So, finally someone in Beijing has taken a chance. Arsenal's defensive mistakes had always looked likely to get punished sooner or later.

City counter-attack. Jenkinson is caught out of position and City move the ball from their left to the right via Yaya Toure. The midfielder plays a lovely couple of touches before laying the ball off to the overlapping Zabaleta, who fires past Fabianski from inside the box.

41 GOAL ZABALETA (1-0)!!!

40
Razak does well to break up play in midfield and set up another City attack.

39
City regain possession. Yaya Toure sets off on a trademark, powerful run forward before teeing up Aguero. The Argentine goes for placement from 18 yards only to curl wide of the target.

38
Arsenal are passing the ball around midfield as half-time approaches. It is likely there will be quite a few substitutions at the interval.

37
Typically for this time of pre-season, both sides are lacking an end product. Some of the build-up has been quite creative. However, the final ball or shot has been lacking or well off target.

36
This time Arteta takes the corner deep to Walcott, who attempts a first-time volley. He makes a mess of things and it is a bit of an air-shot.

35
Arteta's set-piece is kept alive at the back post and then played to Santos on the edge of the box. The Brazilian's curling effort is tipped behind for another corner by Pantilimon.

34
Corner to Arsenal, which was won by Gervinho after he easily dribbled past Savic.

33
Alert goalkeeping from Fabianski breaks up some nice build-up between Aguero and Tevez.

32
Jenkinson sends a shot wide of the target. There has been a lot of misplaced efforts in the opening half-an-hour or so.

31
Trialist Biton has done okay in City's side. Although he has given the ball away on a couple of occasions.

30
Arsenal counter-attack at pace. Walcott sends a fizzing shot flying just past the far post. Pantilimon looked like he would not have been able to reach the ball if it was on target.

29
City enjoy a good period of attacking from the free-kick. Yaya Toure almost plays a disguised pass to find Aguero.

28
Arsenal are enjoying another period of dominance. Song fouls Yaya Toure from behind to ease some of the pressure.

27
Zabalata gives the ball away to Gibbs. Walcott eventually has the chance to shoot from inside the box. It smacks into Kompany. Arsenal are claiming for offside. But nothing is given.

26
The game resumes and Santos appears to be okay.

25
Arsenal defend the set-piece before a break in play due to an injury to Santos.

24
Mancini's City immediately go on the attack. Aguero takes advantage when Vermaelen was trying to play offside. Jenkinson just gets back in time to deflect Aguero's goal-bound effort over the crossbar for a corner.

23
City clear Arteta's resulting set-piece to the edge of the box before Santos goes close with a follow-up effort from 20 yards.

22
Jenkinson is offered time and space on the edge of the City box. He scuffs his shot. But Savic and then Pantilimon both deflect the ball behind for a corner.

21
Arsenal's attempt at playing an offside trap is looking risky. You get the impression it is only a matter of time before City play the right pass to break the tactic.

20
Yaya Toure gets in behind Bartley. The Arsenal defender recovers with a long leg from around the back of Toure inside the penalty area as he was waiting for the ball to drop.

19
Tevez is dropping deep into midfield to try and have an influence on the game. He sees one of his passes hit the heels of referee Webb before running with intent to regain possession.

18
This game is being played at Premier League pace rather than a pre-season match. But both teams look rusty in possession and have been misplacing passes as they feel their way back into form.

17
Gervinho has another chance to run at the City defence. But Kompany again stands up and makes the challenge on the edge of the penalty area.

16
Gervinho beats three City players down the right and then threads a pass forwards towards Walcott. Kompany, though, is covering.

15
Trialist Biton meets Kolarov's delivery. He heads wide.

14
Excellent play from Kolarov as he cuts inside Jenkinson from the City left and then sees a right-footed shot deflected away for a corner.

13
Arsenal are taking risks with an offside trap. A Yaya Toure free-kick almost sets Aguero clear on goal. The Argentine claims he was pulled back by Vermaelen. Referee Webb is not interested.

12
Kompany and Kolo Toure collide when making sure Santos does not meet a cross. Toure stays down. But he is then back on his feet and seems to be okay.

11
Aguero takes advantage of some more sloppy defending at the back from Arsenal. He gets to the byline and digs out a cross. However, none of his City team-mates are in the box to offer support.

10
Walcott races away down the right and tees up Santos on the edge of the City box. But Kolo Toure is out to block the shot.

9
City are playing with three at the back and Arsenal are consequently looking to feeds balls down the wide channels to exploit the spaces with the pace of Walcott.

8
A terrible clearance gifts the ball back to Tevez inside the Arsenal half. However, Yaya Toure is then guilty of giving possession back to Arsenal.

7
It is clear the majority of support inside the stadium is for Arsenal. The crowd roars every time Wenger's players go on the attack.

6
Arsenal move up the other end of the field and win a corner. Arteta whips the ball towards the near post and Kompany, fresh from signing his new contract, hacks a clearance at the near post.

5
Tevez rushes a finish from around eight yards. But he still forces a save from Fabianski.

4
City have started the stronger of the two teams in the hazy Bird's Nest Stadium. Torrential rain is forecast throughout the course of the game.

3
It has been a lively start. Bartley has to be alert to clear Kolarov's cross from the left.

2
Jenkinson bursts forward and pokes a ball towards Gervinho. But there is far too much on the ball and it goes through to Pantilimon.

1
City pass the ball around well in the opening 30 seconds before Yaya Toure's pass to Aguero almost sets the Argentine through before an offside flag is raised. That was a tight one.

KICK-OFF: City get the game going.

12.58
Of course, there is no Van Persie for Arsene Wenger's Arsenal. He is on an extended break while his future remains uncertain and he has been linked with City. Today's referee is Howard Webb.

12.57
Chris Osunsami says: "Hoping to see how Bartley, Jenkinson and Gibbs do against City as they're really going to be the long-term back 3 of 4."

12.51
This is City's last game in China before Roberto Mancini and his squad jet off to Malaysia over the weekend. Pre-season tours these days are largely about improving club's international profiles. There are expectations of a crowd of more than 52,000 today.

12.50
It should be an interesting game at the famous Bird's Nest stadium. Premier League champions City have gone with a very strong line-up. Arsenal will be looking to build on Tuesday's late win over a Malaysia XI.

12.47
Timal says: "Looks to me like City are going with strength & Arsenal not enough to battle with them. Aguero & Tevez both starting but no Nasri. I think Arsenal will lose without Van Persie."

12.44
Arsenal substitutes: Szczesny, Mannone, Miquel, Djourou, Yennaris, Coquelin, Eastmond, Aneke, Eisfeld, Ryo, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Afobe.

12.38
