Thanks for following the game with me, Rebecca Stephenson this afternoon.. and thank you for all your input via twitter and e-mail. Feel free to follow me @1rebs and I'll see you for another game very soon
94 Man City come from behind to win 3-2 - sounds familiar! but Southampton can be proud of their performance. they passed it around well, and if they can play like that every week they'll be closer to the top than the bottom in May
93
Nasri looks to have picked up a knock... but in terms of this game it looks over
91
City are trying to retain possession but Southampton have it back...
90
There'll be three minutes of added time. Gary Neville names Samir Nasri as man of the match.. but can Southampton still get something here?
88
Southampton haven't given up yet, still trying to rescue the game,
86 Morgan Schneiderlin is booked
86 Tevez is coming off, to be replaced by Kolarov
86 Billy Sharp is on for Do Prado.. can Nigel Adkins make it 3 scorers out of three subs?
83
Corner for Southampton headed away by Lescott... a cross from Puncheon is headed down by Lambert but it falls to Fonte who skies it over the bar
80 Nasri booked for revealing a t-shirt in the celebration
80
Bad mistake by Danny Fox, who heads the ball straight to the feet of Samir Nasri - Great finish from him.
79 GOAL FOR MANCHESTER CITY
so City - 2-1 down against a team in red... Dzeko's equalised...slightly longer to go this time around though
74
City trying to calm things down again - getting some more possession again, slowing it down, trying to restore order...Free kick is from Toure is Parried by Kelvin Davis, but it falls kindly for Southampton and they clear
73
All hell's broken loose!! Southampton attack, two clear chances are blocked by the City defence.... straight up the other end and Balotelli misses from 4 yards out - this could be any score now
72
Shot from Kompany fall to Dzeko who stabs it home
71 EQUALISER FOR CITY
71 Mario Balotellu replaces Silva
69
John Thomas two inspired subs Wowwwww
67
It was Jack Rodwell who gave the ball away, Southampton broke away, it was played back to Davis by Lallana and he finished beautifully across Joe Hart into the far corner
67
Steven Davis makes it 2-1
66 SOUTHAMPTON HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD 2-1
66
Free kick from Tevez hits the wall and goes out for a corner... cleared.. Rodwell gives the ball away..
Connor McGarry - And that is why you can't count them out! GAME ON!!!
64 Steven Davis replaces the debutant James Ward-Prowse
Southampton fans.. can you hang on? let me know @1rebs or rebecca.stephenson@bskyb.com
62
You'd still back City to win this, they're having more possession than in the first half and the likes of Tevez and Nasri are probing around the edge of the box
60 Danny Fox was booked for over celebrating in the aftermath of that goal
58
Rickie Lambert makes an immediate impact after coming on.. tapped back to him on the edge of the box by Do Prado and he curls it past Joe Hart - great finish
58 GOAL FOR SOUTHAMPTON
56
Puncheon crosses into the City box, but Silva gets a tackle in on Lallana as he tries to shoot.. more encouraging for the Saints
55 Lambert comes on for Rodriguez for Southampton.. Saints top scorer last season is unleashed as they have to come out a bit more... if they can
54
It's not David Silva's day! Tevez breaks clear on the right flank and crosses, the ball falls to Silva about 5 yards out but he clips the top of the bar and goes over
53
Shouts for hand ball as Ya Ya Toure hits a shot from outside the ball but its waved away
51
Lovely pass cross field to the back post from Ya Ya Toure finds Clichy of all people, but he puts his half-volley over the bar
49
Do Prado looking very isolated now in the City half as City press forward, Southampton can't get out at the moment..
48
Nasri drives the ball across the box but Dzeko wasn't anticipating the ball falling to him and it hits him, 2 yards out and bounces into Davis' hands
48
Connor McGarry - Despite the score being 1-0 I think Southampton show real potential for the Premier League and we can't count them out after one game
47
City say Aguero injury is not as bad as first feared
45
And we're back underway for the second half
HT
David - Can see City going on to score another couple of hard earned goals and predict a tevez brace.
HT
Nathan wood - as a man united fan, I would gloat at city. But that is unsporting. Aguero was city's best goal scorer. Out for 4 weeks I reckon.
HT
Ciaran McBride - Manchester City have got one hand on the 3 points, clearly dominating the game. I can see them scoring 2 or 3 more goals today.
HT
Grant Mills - Too much tikka takka around the box. Need more shoota shoota. Never looked like scoring that pen. Tevez should take them.
HT
@jimsaintclarke - we're unlucky in a way, we should be level at HT
HT
So City lead 1-0 at half time. The Goal came from Tevez, 5 minutes before half time.. he ran onto a through ball from Nasri - and although he could have been offside, it wasn't given and he slotted past Davis at the near post.
49 HALF TIME... Decent display from Southampton but City deserve the lead at half time.. what did you make of it all? we've got 15 minutes of half time to discuss.. what will happen next? have you been impressed with southampton? @1rebs or rebecca.stephenson@bskyb.com
46
A lovely move from Silva, Nasri and Zaballetta ends with Dzeko falling over the ball, but City keep possession, another goalmouth scramble, but Southampton survive
45
There's going to be 4 minutes of time added at the end of the half - mainly due to the Aguero injury
42
City now suddenly have more confidence and are injecting that pace - Southampton almost achieved half time at 0-0 and their heads have dropped a bit - powerful shot from Dzeko is straight at Davis
39
Carlos Tevez breaks the offside trap...just... and beats Davis at the near post "that's why we're Champions" rings around the Etihad
39 GOAL FOR MAN CITY
Jamie Robertshaw - Think City are underestimating their opposition!
36
But it comes to nothing
35
but we're at the other end now - free kick to Southampton on the edge of the box... Lallana puts it in but its headed behind for a corner
34
Tevez again finding that bit of space on the edge of the box - you have to think one of his attempted through-balls will eventually bear fruit..
Zabaletta gets into the box and tries to find Silva but its snuffed out.. Southampton break and Ya Ya Toure brings it to a sudden, and illegal end! free kick
31
Tevez finds space on the edge of the box but his toe-poke is weak and easily gathered by Davis
30
A corner for City brings the big guns forward from the back but its overhit.. City now have it in midfield
29
Clichy's ball into the box finds an empty penalty area - easy claim for Davis
28
Good cross into the box but Dzeko can't quite reach it
28
Hallam Carslake - A lot of people will be changing their fantasy football team tonight!
25
Southampton again just playing the ball around the centre circle, being patient.. City need to inject some pace into their attacks
25
Rob - Aguero being out is a killer for 2 reasons...1 dream team captain and 2 had him as first scorer and city 2-0 with skybet :( #badday
24
@jack_connor1995 - Thing is they will just buy an extra striker...not like they've got no money
21
Southampton holding their own and doing well in possession but getting back quickly.. will they tire though?
20
John Thomas - I thought Balotelli would have come on for Aguero
19
Mazy run from Tevez but Southampton are really closing down well and making it hard for City
18
It was a penalty - Tevez clipped on the edge of the box by Hooiveld, but Silva hit a weak penalty which hit Davis in the midriff
16
David Silva misses from the spot - saved by Davis - very soft penalty
15 PENALTY TO MAN CITY
City fans - how much of a miss would Aguero be? surely you have adequate back up to cover him if he is out for a while? Tweet me @1rebs or e-mail rebecca.stephenson@bskyb.com
13 Edin Dzeko comes on for the stricken Aguero
11
Aguero is stretchered off after trying to carry on - could be facing a spell out.... may be time to change your fantasy team? but for City they could be without him for a while, he doesn't look too optimistic
11
Jedd - Early doors but saints not showing city any respect and trying to go about their own game. Very impressed so far.
8
looks like Aguero may have twisted his knee here - still undergoing treatment.. Balotelli warming up.. the stretcher is on
6
Aguero is down injured after a tackle by Nathanial Clyne - seemed to get the ball but caught Aguero with his trailing leg.. doesn't look good for the man who scored the title winning goal
5
Tevez ball into the box is headed away, City now having some possession
4
Anthony PBA hirst. hi, Burnley fan and a Jay Rodriguez fan.. Really happy 4 him starting 2day I wish him luck :)
3
Southampton having a bit of early possession, some neat passing but not threatening yet
2
Early corner by Southampton is cleared and City break
Looks like more of a 4-4-2 for City after a preseason playing three at the back
Predictably the teams are given a great reception and 'Championes' rings out round the stadium...
No long to go now - the teams are in the tunnel - strange kit from Southampton isn't it? hardly red/white stripes!
Scott from Stockport - loving the atmosphere looking forward to see the best team in manchester show these new boys what the premier league is - I predict 3-1
Socrates - Should be a good game - cant underestimate Southampton! I'm going 4-1 city though! (city fan)
jedd รพ- I think it will go one of two ways. City might take them too lightly and get a shock with saints getting something, or a hammering.
Paul Hardy- why does it look like we have reverted to 4-4-2 when been 3-5-2 all pre season?
Nathaniel Clyne and Jay Rodriguez start for Southampton
Jack Rodwell will make his debut for City this afternoon... full teams follow
Lets get the debate going this afternoon...
I'm Rebecca Stephenson and I'll be guiding you through the game, but I want to hear your views too - e-mail me at rebecca.stephenson@bskyb.com or tweet me @1rebs...
