In a wonderful Premier League match, Lescott's goal is cancelled out by Koscielny. The future looks bright for Arsenal after having the better of the match against City. Will they be title contenders in the long term? Stay with us for all the post-match reaction.
90 + 3 FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 1 ARSENAL 1
90 + 3
Cazorla has been my man of the match today. His passing has been typically excellent and kept Arsenal going even when they were behind.
90 + 2 Garcia is booked for a shameless piece of pulling and a rugby tackle on Jenkinson after being completely beaten for legs by the Arsenal full-back.
90 + 1 Seconds after blazing a great chance over the crossbar from the edge of the box in a snapshot of his performance, Gervinho is substituted and replaced by Coquelin.
ADDED TIME: There will be a minimum of three minutes added time before the final whistle.
What is happening with Koscielny? He plays a wonderful little backheel flick to run the ball out of Arsenal's defence.
City are taking some of the sting out of Arsenal and are playing the ball around their defence.
Both sides are going for a winner. Walcott drives forward but then overruns the ball.
This has been an excellent match and has been played at an extremely high standard and style.
85 That was Aguero's last touch. Balotelli comes on in his place.
City almost immediately re-take the lead. At a corner, Kompany produces a overhead kick, which is saved by Mannone. Koscielny's follow-up clearance is then straight to Aguero but the striker cannot take advantage.
From the corner, Lescott's defensive header is weak. It drops straight to the feet of Koscielny and from close range he makes no mistake with a powerful right-foot effort into the back of the net. No chance for Hart this time.
83 GOAL KOSCIELNY (1-1)!!!
Cazorla lets rip with a 25-yard effort and Hart makes a brilliant save to tip it over for a corner. Arsenal are putting City under a lot of pressure.
Arsenal deal with the corner and get back on the front foot.
City break at pace through Toure after Silva tackles Jenkinson. but Toure leaves his pass to Aguero a little too late and the angle is too tight for the Argentine. His shot from 10 yards is saved for a corner by Mannone.
Excellent from Koscielny as, having been caught up field by a City counter-attack, he charges back and tackles Tevez.
City have dropped off a little since the introduction of Tevez. Arsenal are seeing more of the ball and are pushing further up the pitch.
Arteta goes on a burst forward but seems to run out of a few ideas/options before prodding the ball out for a City throw-in.
City are furious Mertesacker is not flagged offside when Arsenal keep the ball alive from the corner. Hart eventually gathers from the toes of Giroud.
Corner to Arsenal. Cazorla's inswinging delivery is headed away by Kompany just as Giroud was looking to connect.
Regardless of Rodwell's introduction, Garcia has still been chasing shadows for most of this match.
City look to play in Tevez at the back post but the Argentine is offside.
72 Arsenal send on Giroud and Walcott in place of Diaby and Podolski. Diaby's battle with Toure did not really materialise. Arsenal are going for an equaliser with attacking substitutions.
Clichy has a pass rolled into his path and hits a first-time cross. It is a pretty horrible effort and it goes straight out of play.
I am not completely writing off Gervinho, though. Arsenal will remember what Thierry Henry was like when he first arrived in England.
Toure does not have his shooting boots on today. He is again teed-up around 25 yards from goal but his low effort is dragged wide of the far post.
68 Dzeko's afternoon is over. He gets a great ovation and looks a little frustrated to be going off. Tevez comes on to partner Aguero in attack.
Gervinho cannot be faulted for effort but he does not half panic in the penalty area. After being played in by Cazorla, he smashes high over the crossbar.
City set off on another counter-attack. Silva aims to thread a pass to Aguero but Mertesacker steps in.
A few half-hearted shouts from City for a handball inside the Arsenal box. Referee Dean and his assistants allow play to continue.
Wonderful cross-field pass from Cazorla on his left foot to Gervinho. But the Arsenal forward has been poor today and is tackled on the touchline by Zabaleta.
Arsenal's dominance from the first half has been completely turned around by City. It is now the home team who look likely to score. Silva dances past three challenges before eventually being tackled.
Excellent from Silva when tight on the left touchline. He rides one challenge before being chopped down by Jenkinson for a free-kick.
Nice first-time pass from Dzeko out to the right to Aguero. But the pair have not been on the same wavelength today and when Aguero goes for a return pass, he plays it behind his strike partner's run.
In his desperation to make an impact, Cazorla tries to spray a ball across the width of the pitch. But he only hits it out of play and looks up to the sky in frustration.
The introduction of Rodwell, although he has not taken the game by the scruff of the neck, has clearly given City a better presence and more control in the centre of the pitch. Cazorla is being kept quiet.
Podolski looks frustrated and is fortunate to avoid a booking after a studs up challenge on Zabaleta.
Jenkinson has the ball in an advanced area and looks to cross towards Podolski. But it is not much of a challenge in the air for Kompany against the German.
With Arsenal having to chase an equaliser, City are having more space on their attacks. They win another corner, this time on the left. Garcia wins the header but nods into the ground and it bounces up for Mannone.
From the corner, Silva overhits his delivery and it curls out of play at the back post.
City break after Diaby is tackled by Garcia. Silva runs at them before playing in Aguero. The Argentine wants a penalty when challenged by Koscielny. But referee Dean is not interested and Gibbs then defends for a corner.
Brilliant challenge by Kompany on Diaby, who was attempting to shield the ball with his back to goal.
It is Toure who this time has the chance to run at the Arsenal's zonal marking. But the delivery of the corner is headed clear by Arsenal.
Another corner to City as a Zabaleta cross is blocked. Can Arsenal defender better this time?
The free-kick finds Aguero at the back post. He is given plenty of time but opts to a shoot from a near impossibly tight angle when a cross back into the six-yard box would have been the better option.
Rodwell's introduction at half-time means Toure is now playing in a more advanced position. Arteta trips Dzeko wide on the right and close to the corner flag to give City a free-kick.
Cazorla cannot find Koscielny with the set-piece and City can eventually clear.
Gervinho wins a corner from the backpedalling Lescott.
City are on the front foot from the restart and Toure has the chance to set his sights from 20 yards. He drags it wide with his right foot.
City have made a change at half-time. Rodwell has come on in place of Sinclair to try and give them more control in the centre of midfield.
WE'RE BACK: City get the second half under way.
Gabriel Sutton says: "Was rooting for Arsenal in this one and Wenger will not be too disheartened by the display so far as they've probably edged most of the game. I think Arsenal have got a Podolski goal in them but City to still win in the end if they can get Aguero more involved."
It is a harsh half-time scoreline on Arsenal. But City showed why they are champions by remaining on level terms before taking the lead through Lescott's header. Arsenal's zonal marking was the problem at the corner. Remember City have taken 76 points from the last 78 available at the Etihad. Were it not for Gervinho's wastefulness, Arsenal might have had a lead.
45 + 1 HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 1 ARSENAL 0
ADDED TIME: There will be a minimum of one minute added time before half-time.
Replays show the problem with Arsenal's zonal marking at Lescott's goal. There were five Arsenal players on the edge of the six-yard box but they were caught flat-footed as they could not get a running jump.
Cazorla is a little off balance when trying a shot from a ricochet on the edge of the City box. He slices it wide of the far post.
Silva's delivery is poor. Having seen Lescott score at the back post from the previous corner, the Spaniard scuffs the set-piece to the near post and it is cleared by Arsenal.
City have their tails up and Mannone has to tip a fizzing Dzeko effort over the crossbar. It is another corner to City.
Arsenal did not properly clear and Gibbs gave away a cheap corner after a breakdown in communication. There was no danger and he knocked the ball out for a corner. From the set-piece, Arsenal's experimental zonal marking is exposed as Lescott gets the run on the defence and heads into the back of the net at the back post. Mannone was flapping.
40 GOAL LESCOTT (1-0)!!!
But City's break comes to nothing as the excellent Gibbs tackles Sinclair.
Arteta gives the ball away in midfield after being sold a little short by Diaby. City can counter-attack.
Gervinho tries a shot from the right corner of the City box. His shot rattles the side-netting and some Arsenal fans are celebrating what from their angle looks like a goal. The ball has in fact gone wide. City fans respond by ironically celebrating.
As I touched on earlier, Garcia has been disappointing in this first half. This time it is Ramsey who skips past the midfielder to set Arsenal on another attack.
Mannone looks a little bit panicked when dealing with a back-pass. He thumps it up the field to take no risks when being closed down by Dzeko.
Sinclair has switched to the right-hand side. He sends a teasing cross to the back post but it is too high for Aguero, who is not the tallest.
Cazorla takes the free-kick. His curling right-foot effort is a straightforward save for Hart after one bounce at his right-hand post.
Arsenal look dangerous every time they break. City's midfield is getting bypassed. Garcia is being overrun. Kompany now trips Ramsey around 30 yards from the City goal.
Gibbs wins a corner from Zabaleta. Cazorla dinks the ball to the near post and Mertesacker. The centre-back cannot get a decent connection and Hart can claim from the loopy header.
Arsenal have undoubtedly had the better of this first half-an-hour. If this is a test of their credentials, they are passing with flying colours at present. They look very confident.
Diaby roars forward after intercepting the ball on the edge of Arsenal's box. He plays a pass to Podolski but the Germans return ball forces Diaby wide and the Gunners are then happy to take a throw-in deep in City territory.
Lovely stuff from Cazorla as he waltzes through before rolling a pass into the path of Gervinho. Just as the forward is about to pull the trigger from around eight yards, Clichy just manages to get a foot to the ball.
City have been struggling to get Aguero into the game. The Argentine will also be building his fitness after a long period on the sidelines.
This is not a usual Premier League game of blood and thunder, end-to-end football and is instead a great tactical and stylish contest.
City respond by moving up the field and winning a corner. Lescott manages to keep the ball alive at the back post but then Cazorla wins a free-kick from a challenge from Zabaleta.
What a waste! Jenkinson somehow gets past Lescott at the byline. His pull back from the right finds Podolski on the edge of the box but the German international's first-time, right-foot shot rockets over the crossbar.
Dzeko does not give Mertesacker a second to think when dealing with a short pass from Mannone. The giant centre-back has to take the compromise of hitting the ball out for a throw-in on Arsenal's right.
Good defending from Zabaleta to tackle Gervinho wide on the Arsenal left. But the City right-back then over does it a bit and Cazorla pinches the ball back.
Toure shimmies past Ramsey with a mixture of pace and power before being tripped by Cazorla when setting off on a typical burst across the halfway line.
City keep the pressure on Arsenal. But Silva then trips Arteta to give Arsenal a free-kick on the edge of their own box.
Aguero has the ball at his feet inside the Arsenal 18-yard area and looks to pirouette when with his back to goal. But under pressure from Gibbs and Arteta, he is crowded out.
The game has opened up in the last couple of minutes. Sinclair leads City on a counter-attack and Mertesacker has to step in and intercept.
Arsenal are having the better of things at the moment. But Gibbs again misplaces a cross from the left.
Monstrous from Diaby as he holds off Dzeko before hitting a forward pass to Ramsey. The Welshman then plays through Gervinho but his first touch is wretched when one-on-one with Hart. The touch is too heavy and Hart can come off his line to save.
Corner to City. But Silva's delivery is over the head of Kompany and Arsenal survive the set-piece.
Aguero drifts out to the left and Arsenal let him cut in to hit a right-foot effort at goal. Mannone is lucky his save, which goes straight back into the danger area, can be hooked away by Gibbs.
But City do not clear properly and Gibbs has the chance to cross. But he does not get his head up on a first-time volley and hits the ball behind Podolski in the centre of the penalty area.
Arsenal are a little fortunate to see the ball find Gervinho in the penalty area after Kompany slips. But Lescott stands up well and sees off the danger.
It has been a fascinating, cagey battle of tactics in the opening 10 minutes. Neither side is finding any space and would be advised to start looking to the wide areas to try and stretch the game.
Silva drifts in from the right in trademark style before a back-heel into the path of Toure. The midfielder hits the ball first time but the 20-yard shot is blocked by Arteta.
Cazorla tries an ambitious 30-yard effort. It is relatively tamely hit and skids through for Hart to dive to his left and comfortably collect.
Sinclair has a first chance to run at Arsenal right-back Jenkinson in a one-on-one. There is a bit of a ricochet off the shins of both players before it deflects out for a goal-kick
Lovely ball out to the left from Podolski to find Gibbs' forward run. Gibbs' low cross does not beat Kompany at the near post.
Much has been made of the potential battle between Yaya Toure and Diaby this afternoon. But in the early stages, Toure is sitting very deep.
Zabaleta looks to play a ball down the right channel to Dzeko. But the City striker has not made a run and the pass goes through for Mannone to gather.
City are not giving Arsenal any time on the ball. They are pushing a very high defensive line. Arsenal are dropping off to the halfway line when City have the ball.
The centre circle is packed full of players. Men on both sides are going to need excellent control of the ball in midfield this afternoon.
Excellent build-up from Arsenal sees Diaby get to the byline and look to cross before being blocked by Kompany. Sinclair then wins City a throw-in.
Arsenal look confident in the opening 60 seconds and are pinging the ball around midfield with one-touch passing.
KICK-OFF: Arsenal get the game going.
City and Arsenal observe a moment of reflection in memory of PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes. Warm applause around the Etihad.
Here come the teams. Kompany and captain for the day Arteta lead out City and Arsenal from the Etihad tunnel. Regular Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen is injured.
Danny Curran says: "I am neither City nor Arsenal fan and can't even watch the game as I am in China. However, my brain is going to melt if I see Dzeko starting another game for City. That man does nothing for the team but shoot at every opportunity, regardless of where he is on the pitch. To think he is starting front of Tevez is mind boggling."
This will be a genuine test of Arsenal's credentials. Wenger has boldly been saying his current squad is the best he has produced. A trip to City is a real measure of their potential. City have taken 76 from a possible 78 points at the Etihad.
Adam Gillis says: "Happy that Sinclair is starting, bit disappointed Nastasic isn't playing. He had a blinder against Madrid but maybe he is tired. Hopefully he will play a part. I would also relish Rodwell in action. He needs game time."
It looks like City will be playing with a back four today after their experiments with a three-man defence. They have looked a bit open at times this season and that was the case when they blew the lead at Real. Do you prefer City with a three or four-man defence? In case you have joined us late, here is a round-up of the team news. City striker Aguero makes his first appearance since the opening weekend of the Premier League season. The Argentinian has recovered from a knee injury and came in for Carlos Tevez in one of five changes from the side beaten by Real, with Joleon Lescott, Pablo Zabaleta, Scott Sinclair and Edin Dzeko also making the starting line-up. Samir Nasri misses out against his former club with a hamstring injury while Arsenal boss Wenger brings in Laurent Koscielny and Ramsey from the team who beat Montpellier.
Numan Sohail says: "I can see Ramsey pulling off a career-changing match! Not being biased but I see Arsenal winning 2-0 with Ramsey and Podolski to score, courtesy of Cazorla!"
It will be interesting to see how both City and Arsenal have recovered from their midweek UEFA Champions League exploits. They both have large squads and should be well rested after playing against Real Madrid and Montpellier, respectively, on Tuesday.
Anthony Buckby says via Twitter: "Just seen our line-up for today's game with City. I'm amazed there is no Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain!! #bizzaredecisionWenger"
Although only Clichy is the only one involved today, the recent movement of players from Arsenal to City has increased the rivalry between these clubs. There have been four red cards in the last four Premier League games between City and the Gunners.
Statistics do not point toward a goal glut this afternoon. There have been just six scored in the last six meetings between Arsenal and City, with all three encounters last season ending 1-0. City have scored just one goal in the last five Premier League games against Arsenal.
Manchester United have just beaten 10-man Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.
Jamie Cull says: "I think the line-ups have the making of a great game, hopefully Arsenal a get a win here but in truth I think a point would still be successful. Anything less would be a huge disappointment."
Akshet Shetty says: "I wanted Balotelli to start. I know he is a hothead, but he deserves a chance. I am going for a 1-1 draw. Podolski and Y.Toure."
Of all the former Arsenal players who have moved to City over recent years, only Gael Clichy is in the Premier League champions' 18-man squad today.
Today's referee is Mike Dean. Arsenal have won just one of the last 14 Premier League matches with him as the official (W1 D6 L7).
Gabriel Sutton says: "I think the timing of their games this week have maybe fallen in Man City's favour- they've had five days to get over the defeat to Madrid on Tuesday and prepare for this one so I don't think they'll suffer from the 'continental hangover' effect. Arsenal look to be coming into shape now and I think Wenger has actually managed a coup by replacing RVP quickly with three forward players coming into their peak. With Man City needing a win to keep it going at the top, though, I think they'll grind out a win today. 2-1, Tevez brace for City, Podolski for Arsenal."
So Ramsey starts and Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott are on Arsenal's bench. City have also only named Tevez as a substitute. What do you think of the team news? Get in touch at email@example.com or via Twitter @SkySportsPeteF.

We are expecting confirmation of the team news in the next couple of minutes.
Anthony Wagstaff says: "A tough game for both teams but Arsenal to edge it 2-1. Man city have to be tired from the exertions of Real Madrid with Arsenal fresher. Podolski and Giroud to score and Aguero for City. Come on arsenal."
Both managers, Roberto Mancini and Arsene Wenger, are fully aware of the significance of this match. Despite only being September, it is expected to have long-term implications in the Premier League title race. You can get in touch with your thoughts on the game throughout the afternoon at firstname.lastname@example.org or via Twitter @SkySportsPeteF. I will publish a selection of the best comments.
