Defender Joleon Lescott (back) and midfielder James Milner (hamstring) are the latest additions to the casualty list after both failed to make the side against West Ham on Saturday.

Right-backs Micah Richards (knee) and Maicon (foot) and midfielders David Silva and Jack Rodwell (both hamstring) are again missing, while defender Kolo Toure is not registered for the competition.

Ajax manager Frank De Boer could name an unchanged side for the trip to Manchester, with no new injury concerns or suspensions to concern him.

He may decide to include defender Niklas Moisander though, as he is is available for selection in Europe after serving a ban in the 2-0 league defeat to Vitesse Arnhem at the weekend.
