That's it - it's all over on Tyneside as Obertan's goal hands Newcastle a 1-0 win over Club Brugge.

The ball goes behind and Harper is in no hurry to collect it for his goal-kick. The seconds trickle down and it looks like the Toon have this wrapped up.

Two minutes of stoppage time are added and Newcastle just have to sit tight now. Brugge win a free-kick after Odjidja is fouled by Tiote.

They're trying regardless! Trickovski, who has been a lively substitution, troubles Harper with a driving shot at the far post.

Ameobi had been pulling and pushing in the box and the free-kick goes to Brugge. The Toon are preparing to make their final change, with Cabaye on the touchline.

Tiote finds Obertan out on the left and he teams up with Ferguson to get forward. Ameobi meets a cross all wrong.

Shola Ameobi does well to win the ball in midfield but wastes his good work as his pass has too much on it out to Ferguson.

Obertan is pulled back by Odjidja as the Frenchman's pace is too much for him and the Brugge man gets a booking.

Lestienne tries to slot through a ball for Bacca but Steven Taylor is there to intercept the pass. A sloppy pass goes to Buyesse.

A bit of a reshuffle for Pardew then, with Ferguson moving to left midfield and Coloccini slotting into the backline.

The Toon make their second change, as Coloccini comes on for Sammy Ameobi, who gets a warm round of applause from the Toon fans.

Newcastle are playing at leisure now, trading passes at the back until Sammy Ameobi makes a break through, but can't find a way into the box.

That Toon strike had been a long time coming but they've finally worn down the Brugge defence. Sammy Ameobi plants another cross into the box but Jorgacevic collects.

Blondel earns a booking for his foul on Ameobi in the build-up to that goal. It's his third of the competition and will rule him out of the return match against Newcastle in a fortnight.

The goal is mostly Sammy Ameobi's doing as he flicks over a defender in midfield before making a run, picking out the onrushing Obertan who fires it neatly across the keeper and into the far corner.

Blondel picks out Lestienne as Brugge try to get forward. They try some gentle probing until the striker is released down the left but he can't keep it in.

Worrying for Brugge as Tiote has a clash of knees with Bacca and he goes to ground in pain, needing treatment.
