All over at St James' Park. Everton bounce back from defeat to Chelsea and stay very much in the Champions League hunt, while Newcastle will be looking nervously over their shoulders after fading badly.
Into the final minute of stoppage time. Everton have played these closing minutes perfectly. They've got a free-kick in Newcastle's half, and that should seal the points.
Baines gets in behind the Newcastle defence on the left but his cross is parried away to safety by Krul.
Everton doing a decent job of keeping possession during stoppage time.
Enterprising forward run from Sammy Ameobi, but all the momentum is sucked out of the move when he passes the ball to Shola, who eventually goes back to Bigirimana.
Everton have the ball just where they want it: in the corner at Newcastle's end. Oviedo, Pienaar and Neville pass the ball around and eat up a few seconds.
Neville sends the free-kick straight into Krul's hands. This one isn't over yet.
The corner is cleared to Osman, who wins a free-kick. There will be six added minutes for Newcastle to salvage a point.
Anichebe wins a corner off Coloccini. TIme running out now for Newcastle.
Oviedo replaces Jelavic, who has been involved in much of Everton's tidiest work this evening.
Great defending from Distin, getting out to dispossess Sammy Ameobi after he's skipped clear of one challenge. The Everton man then plays the ball off the Newcastle striker for a pressure-easing throw.
Ranger replaces Perch. Last throw of the dice from Pardew.
Good run from Sammy Ameobi, but he takes the wrong option when trying to shoot from 25 yards when there were three black-and-white shirts in the penalty box.
Newcastle pressing in these closing minutes. Marveaux has a shot blocked, and Santon's tame follow-up is straight at Howard.
Everton clear the corner and break quickly through Fellaini. He feeds Pienaar, but his low cross is easily cleared by Newcastle.
Both men back on the field for Everton now as Santon finds himself free in the Toffees' penalty area but can't pick out Cisse. Newcastle do have a corner, though.
Neville is off the field being patched up as Howard gets the game back under way. Neville has the cut, but Anichebe looks the groggier.
The home fans aren't happy, but the ref had to stop the game there. Neville, to be fair, never even hit the deck after the collision but needs a change of shirt at the very least.
Everton get the ball clear, but it's helped back in and play is stopped after a nasty clash of heads between Neville and Anichebe. Neville has a nasty cut to his head, and this could be a fairly lengthy delay.
Tiote makes way for Sammy Ameobi as Newcastle bid to salvage something from this game.
Tiote's ball in headed clear by Neville. Newcastle far less incisive in this second half.
Baines gets the ball up and down - impressive from so close - but it's a good yard or two wide of the upright.
Marveaux gives the ball away to Fellaini, who surges towards the Newcastle area before cutting inside across the edge of the box and being brought down by a combination of Tiote and Bigirimana. Free-kick right on the edge of the box. Baines stands over it.
Krul out to the edge of the area to gather the ball as Jelavic gives chase.
Good claim by Krul as he gathers the corner despite being off-balance and surrounded by blue shirts.
Handbags again before the corner, with Tiote clashing with Anichebe. Plenty of pushing and shoving, and Atkinson calls both players over for a calming word.
Baines' curling low cross from the left is sent spinning goalwards off Williamson's heel, forcing a back-pedalling Krul to tip over the bar.
Ameobi tries his luck from 25 yards but never gets his foot around the ball enough with his left foot to threaten the target.
Baines' free-kick bounces through to Krul, who launches a quick Newcastle break. Anita's cross from the right is met by Cisse, whose header is blocked by Heitinga before an instinctive follow-up effort is saved on the line by Howard.
Tiote carelessly gives the ball away to Pienaar in a dangerous position. The ball is worked out to Jagielka on the right. His cross is met by Fellaini but his shot is blocked. However, Tiote had gone right through Jagielka, so Everton have a free-kick out on the right, and Tiote has another yellow card for his collection.
That run and shot is Obertan's last contribution as he makes way for Bigirimana.
The corner is cleared.
The corner is cleared, and eventually Obertan is able to run down the left. With little support and no real pressure from defenders he cuts inside and goes for goal, but Howard blocks and the ball is smuggled behind for a corner.
Krul can't prevent a bouncing ball going behind for an Everton corner.
Anichebe almost in again as Pienaar lofts a ball forward for the run of the striker, but Krul is out of his area to volley clear. Well judged.
GOAL - ANICHEBE! Instant impact from the substitute! Great run from Jelavic down the left and he picks out the perfect low cross with Anichebe on hand to prod the ball through Krul's legs from six yards.
First change of the match as Anichebe replaces Naismith for Everton.
Chance! Fellaini gives the ball away attempting a fancy flick inside his own half. Marveaux clips the ball forward for Ameobi, who has got goalside of Distin. The striker's cushioned first touch is perfect, but he then pokes his effort wide when he really should've scored.
A lively, jinking run takes Marveaux into the Everton box, but his attempt to square the ball for Ameobi is behind the striker and the ball is cleared.
Baines' corner sails harmlessly out of play, but Tiote hauls Naismith to the ground inside the six-yard box. He's lucky that there are so many bodies blocking Atkinson's view or that would surely have been a penalty.
Some handbags before the corner is taken, with Jelavic holding his face after an apparent clash with Coloccini. Atkinson has words with the main parties involved, and the game goes on.
Smart pass from Pienaar sets Naismith away down the right, but his early cross lacks the pace to get to Jelavic at the back post and is turned behind for a corner by Coloccini.
The free-kick comes to nothing, but Everton are soon back in possession.
A heavy touch from Williamson allows Jelavic to pinch the ball from him and set off towards the Newcastle goal. Williamson clips the striker and gets a deserved booking. Lucky for him that Coloccini was getting round to cover or that could've been red.
Howard comes flying for the corner but makes no contact. Cisse was stood in front of him, and referee Atkinson rules the striker has impeded the keeper.
Newcastle win a corner on their right.
Fellaini times his run down the left perfectly, but then scuffs his cross straight to Krul as the Newcastle defence appeal in vain for offside.
Marveaux smacks the free-kick into the Everton defensive wall, which held together rather better than Newcastle's in the face of Baines' thunderbolt.
Ameobi gets away from Heitinga and sets off towards the penalty area. The Everton centre-back stumbles and drags his opponent to the floor, earning a booking. No complaints, really. Promising position for Newcastle.
Everton get the second half under way.
Some half-time price boosts from Sky Bet: Newcastle to win 3-1 now 18/1, while Everton are 9/1 to prevail by the same scoreline. Shola Ameobi is 9/1 to score next, and Fellaini 8s. Cisse to score the winner in a 2-1 Newcastle victory is 20/1, while it's 14/1 for Everton to win 2-1 through a Jelavic goal. Head to www.skybet.com for these and many, many more in-play betting opportunities.
The half-time whistle blows as Krul hammers the free-kick forward. Thoroughly entertaining fare at St James' Park, and at half-time the scores are level.
Naismith penalised for a foul in the Newcastle box. That should be that for the first half.
Santon gets his head on Howard's long clearance, and Coloccini completes the clearance.
We'll have a minimum of one added minute at the end of this first half.
On the balance of play, Everton probably deserve to be level in what has been an excellent first half, but Newcastle will have some justification in thinking the award of the initial free-kick was harsh.
GOAL - BAINES! Or not! Baines absolutely hammers the free-kick past Krul, who had taken half a step to his left and can't adjust to dive to his right as the ball swerves and dips its way into the back of the net. Stunning strike.
Fellaini contests a Howard clearance with Coloccini and Tiote, and wins a rather soft free-kick for his side. May be just too far out for Baines.
Another good ball in from Baines, but Ameobi heads clear.
Cisse earns a booking for a trip on the marauding Baines.
Big appeals for a penalty from Newcastle's players and fans as Ameobi beats Neville to Santon's low cross and then hits the deck. Not a pen for me: if anything Ameobi caught Neville's leg with his foot rather than the other way around. Atkinson, more importantly, also says no penalty.
A rare quiet spell in this excellent first half as the game gets bogged down in midfield.
Neat pass from Fellaini to set Naismith away down the right, but a heavy first touch sees the ball run out of play. Naismith hammers the ball into the advertising hoarding in frustration.
Fellaini flicks on Neville's long ball, but Williamson gets to the ball before Jelavic and clears.
Santon beats Naismith far too easily and sends in a gorgeous, teasing cross but neither Cisse nor Anita can apply the finishing touch.
There are more goals in this one. Everton are putting together some fantastic passing moves to get in behind the home side's defence, while Newcastle always look dangerous on the break.
Wonderful play from Pienaar and Baines again, slicing Newcastle open down the left with Baines' perfectly weighted pass sending Pienaar clear on goal, but Krul spreads himself well and makes the save.
Wonderful ball in from Anita. Perch climbs highest but his header comes crashing back off the upright. Everton scramble the ball clear to Tiote on the edge of the box, and his shot is blocked.
Santon wins a free-kick in a good area on the right as Naismith trips him.
Another good run forward from Obertan, but he's short of support and has to hold up play waiting for reinforcements. Everton get numbers back and deal with the threat.
Everton coming into this more and more. Naismith lets the ball run towards Jelavic, but Williamson reads it and makes the clearance.
Great break from Everton. Pienaar squares the ball for Fellaini on the penalty spot, but the big midfielder's first touch isn't great and allows Santon to get in and block the shot.
Baines swings a free-kick to the far post where Naismith has a free header but can only steer the ball into the arms of Krul. Not the worst chance.
Perch clips the ball forward for Cisse, who tries to flick the ball on for Ameobi. But Everton have plenty of bodies back and deal with the threat comfortably.
Fellaini flicks on Howard's long clearance, but Naismith controls with his hand and Newcastle have a free-kick.
Almost a mix-up as Coloccini looks to let the ball run through to Krul, but the keeper gathers and the offside flag is up in any case.
Baines swings the free-kick into the box, but Fellaini can't make meaningful contact and Newcastle clear.
Osman is clumsily fouled on the right by Tiote. Martin Atkinson has words with the Newcastle midfielder, but keeps his cards in his pocket.
Perch takes the throw, but only after picking up a fiver off the ground and handing it over to a steward.
Lovely ball from Pienaar sets Jagielka clear down the inside-right channel, but his first touch is poor and his eventual cross sails straight out of play for a throw.
Baines and Pienaar link up nicely on the left, but the latter's cross is too close to Krul who gathers comfortably.
A raking cross from deep by Tiote is aimed at the head of Cisse, but Howard is out confidently to make the catch.
Another fine surging run forward from Obertan, but Baines stays with him and makes the tackle.
A rare poor ball in from Baines, whose cross from the left is easily cleared.
The referee spots an infringement as the corner comes in. Free-kick to Everton.
The ball is helped back into the Everton box, and Howard is taking no chances as he puts the ball behind for a corner.
Another quick Newcastle break ends with Distin steering Obertan's low cross away to safety. Cisse was lurking again, but may have been offside.
Battle of the haircuts in Newcastle's box as Fellaini and Coloccini compete for a long ball. Fellaini brings the ball down on his chest, but is penalised for shirt-pulling.
Cracking start to this match. Fine response from Everton to conceding such a sloppy opening goal inside two minutes.
Now it's the Newcastle defence caught square from a bouncing ball into the box, but Krul is out smartly to smother at the feet of Baines after a touch from Jelavic that probably helped the keeper more than the onrushing Baines.
Slightly unconvincing punch clear from Krul, but Newcastle get the ball clear.
Baines gets the ball up and over the wall, but can't beat Krul who dives away to his left to sneak the ball round the post for a corner.
Everton win a free-kick 30 yards from goal. Baines territory.
First decent moment going forward from Everton as Baines' excellent cross from the left almost finds Fellaini's head.
Sensational start this from Newcastle. Obertan spins away from two defenders and sets Ameobi away down the left. His fizzing low cross is intended for Cisse but is just too far ahead of the Newcastle striker.
Perhaps this will be the same story as last season for Newcastle: Ba scoring all the goals before the New Year, Cisse all the goals after.
GOAL - CISSE! What a start for Newcastle. Everton's defence allow a long ball from Krul to bounce into their penalty area where Cisse is on hand to pounce and head the ball over a stranded Howard and into the net. Shocking defending, and Cisse takes full advantage.
Newcastle get us under way.
Scott from Cheltenham: "I think Cisse might thrive playing with Ameobi tonight as big Shola is a handful and will win most of the aerial challenges leaving space for Papiss to run in behind and pick up the flick ons. 2-1 to toon with Shola and Papiss grabbing 1 each."
There's been sustained support for Everton to win this one, and they're now 21/20 with Sky Bet. Newcastle are 12/5, with the draw a 5/2 shot. Papiss Cisse is 11/2 to open the scoring, 6/4 to score anytime and 40/1 to bag a hat-trick. Fellaini is 13/2 to score first, 2/1 anytime and 12/1 for a brace. You can get 15/2 that both Fellaini and Cisse find the net. Head to www.skybet.com for a wide range of betting markets both pre-match and in-play.
Rohan Kalra: "Backing Fellaini to score tonight and Jelavic to seal it. Newcastle will not score without Ba."
In a pre-match interview, Alan Pardew says he expects Demba Ba to join Chelsea: "It's done. He will go to Chelsea with our blessing. He has done fantastic for us and it's not a bad thing, all the uncertainty is now done and we can move on."
Rob Davies: "I think it's going to be a comfortable home win today and Newcastle's season getting back on track. 2-0 Newcastle."
Darren from Ayr: "I think the best thing for Cisse is Ba to go,I think Cisse is a better player without him and he will score more goals now."
Frank O'Sullivan: "The only good thing about Ba leaving is that we may have time to replace him now. In truth the writing was on the wall. Surprised though that Cisse isn't restored to his CF position which he was so prolific in last year. He's not a winger after all. looking forward to seeing tiote & anita bossing the middle with a brace from Cisse & a few assists from Marveaux. Come on Toon."
Asty Dalakta: "I am a Newcastle United fan and I think that we should move on from Demba Ba, take the money and try to concentrate on buying Remy and strengthening our defence."
Let me know your thoughts on tonight's game or that Demba Ba news. Mails to Dave.Tickner@bskyb.com please.

Welcome to our live minute-by-minute coverage of Newcastle v Everton. Already been a major story coming out of St James' Park today, with Chelsea triggering Demba Ba's release clause. The striker is in talks with the London club, and doesn't feature here. He's scored half Newcastle's Premier League goals this season, so will surely be missed. Everton, meanwhile, are looking to move within three points of Tottenham in the chase for Champions League spots. They have Marouane Fellaini back from suspension. Team news on the way shortly.
