Bury have no new injury problems for the visit of their north-west neighbours.

On-loan Leicester striker Tom Hopper is available once more having been ineligible for Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup second-round draw with Southend and could be paired with Lenell John-Lewis in attack.

John-Lewis made a surprise return from a knee injury against Paul Sturrock's men at the weekend, a welcome boost for boss Kevin Blackwell as fellow forwards Andy Bishop (foot) and David Healy (calf) remain sidelined.

Defender Phil Picken (knee) is a long-term absentee and the game comes too soon for centre-back Adam Lockwood (groin).

On-loan Bolton winger Gregg Wylde made his Trotters debut against the Shrimpers along with Sebastien Carole. The latter could push for a start in midfield after appearing as a substitute.

Preston manager Graham Westley has no new injury concerns.

North End overcame Gillingham in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Jeffrey Monakana opened the scoring after recovering from the effects of a dead leg and is fit to feature once more.

Westley has increased options in attack with cup-tied Grimsby loanee Anthony Elding available once more, while Lee Trundle made his Lilywhites debut against the Gills as a final-minute replacement for Monakana.

Veteran forward Trundle had been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury against Morecambe in pre-season.

Preston's remaining long-term absentees are defenders Keith Keane (knee) and Scott Laird (broken leg).

Westley's men triumphed 2-1 at Gigg Lane in npower League One earlier this season thanks to goals from Akpo Sodje and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff.
