FT: Nigeria 1 Burkina Faso 1

90+4
It's all over and Burkina Faso have secured an unlikely point at the death in their Group C match with Nigeria. It appeared as if Emenike's goal would be enough for the Super Eagles who were down to ten men with Ambrose's sending off, but substitute Traore popped up to give his side a fantastic 1-1 draw. Thank you for joining us and good night.

90+4
GOAL BURKINA FASO Traore. Pitroipa picked up a ball on the right side of goal but just inside the box, and with his feet about to go from under him he managed to lay the ball back. His pass appeared to have been misplaced but Obobona allowed the ball to roll under his foot to the waiting Traore who made no mistake as he slotted home.

90+1
There will be four minutes of added time...

90
Dagano tries to set up Sanou with a back flick inside the box but he can't find his teammate under pressure from Echiejile.

90
Koffi works some space for himself in a central position but his strike did not match his approach play.

88
Mikel plays a neat one-two with Uche before blasting his shot wide of the target.

86
Soulama does well to nick the ball of the toe of Musa with the wide player again baring down on goal.

84
Musa puts Kone under pressure and steals the ball off the defender before racing through on goal but loses his feet and Burkina Faso can clear.

82
Abdoulrazak Traore is on for Florent Rouamba.

81
Uche does well to take a sweeping down on his chest to beat his man out wide on the left but after taking the ball goalward, he skies his effort over the bar.

78
Ideye Brown makes way for Kenneth Omeruo.

75
That's a second yellow for Efe Ambrose for a nothing tackle on Jonathan Pitroipa. He will miss his side's next game against Zambia.

73
Nosa Igiebor is booked for a challenge on Florent Rouamba.

70
Ogenyi Onazi replaces Fengor Ogude.

69
Kone tries his luck from distance but Enyeama makes an easy save, this after a good run down the left flank from Traore who cut outside his man before seeing his cut-back cut out.

66
Terrible miss from Uche after a solid first touch had allowed him to bring the ball on to his left foot - from a left hand cross from Musa - but his shot is woefully wide of the target.

65
Alain Traore replaces Aristide Bance.

64
Mohamed Koffi does well to get to the ball ahead of Musa with the player racing through on goal.

62
Super one-handed save Enyeama low to his right to push a Dagano shot wide of the post.

60
Godfrey Obobona is well placed to block a Sanou shot from the edge of the box.

58
Ikechukwu Uche replaces Emmanuel Emenike.

54
Pitroipa goes down in the box under a challenge from Ogude but the referee waves play on before Enyeama comes out quickly to deal with a ball into the path of Ideye.

52
Emenike smashes a shot well wide with options to the left and right of him, chance wasted.

50
A neat passage of play results in a corner for the Stallions. But Dagano looked like he could have opened the scoring with a header that actually hit his shoulder following an excellent right-wing cross from Sanou.

48
Ideye smashes an early shot well wide of the target after being set up by Emenike on the edge of the box.

46
Nigeria kick off this second half...

Wilfried Sanou replaces Hughes-Wilfried Dah.

The two sides are back out on the pitch ahead of the start of the second half...

45+2
The referee brings the first half of this AFCON encounter to an end. Nigeria have played well and shown glimpses of their undoubted talent while Burkina Faso have battled for everything and have given their more illustrious opponents more than a few concerns. Don't go anywhere, we'll be right back with the second half...

45+1
There will be two minutes of added time...

45
Teasing set-piece from Pitroipa who whips in a good delivery from the right of the pitch toward Kone, but the defender is adjudged to have been offside.

42
Musa breaks well down the right hand side but opts to cut inside and is well tackled by Saidou Panandetiguiri.

40
The game has descended into a bit of a scrap in the last five minutes with neither side able to make any meaningful forays forward.

37
Ahmed Musa tries his luck with a toe poke from the edge of the box that is easily dealt with by Soulama.

38
Caution to Efe Ambrose for a cynical foul on Bance.

35
Stallions keeper Soulama punches clear an Ideye cross from the right hand side with Emenike lurking.

32
Some neat incisive passing from Nigeria sets up Ideye on the left of the big box, but his shot is well blocked en route to goal.

30
Burkina Faso win a free-kick on the edge of the box for a phantom hand-ball. The delivery is good but Kone and Bance collide and contrive to waste the opportunity.

27
Yobo walks away from his block on Bance's shot a bit gingerly, the Burkina Faso player putting everything he had into that effort, and earns a corner. Godfrey Obobona head's Pitroipa's corner clear.

24
Fengor Ogude booked for a foul on Pitroipa.

23
GOAL NIGERIA Emenike. Ideye did expertly to flick a long ball forward from Mikel into the path of Emenike who still had to fight off the challenge of two Burkina Faso defenders to flick the ball into the back of the net, also with the outside of his boot.

21
Pitroipa's set-piece is wasted as Abdoulaye Soulama collects the ball with ease.

19
Florent Rouamba takes a nasty knock from Fengor Ogude and the Stallions will have a free-kick from roughly 30 yards.

16
A mistake in defence from Joseph Yobo and the ball eventually breaks to Hughes-Wilfried Dah who fires into the side netting from wide right. Yobo is again at fault and this time it is Pitroipa and then Aristide Bance who try to take advantage but both of their shots are blocked.

14
Emenike's cross from the right is just too high for Ideye but it was a good passage of play from Nigeria, the winger picking up the ball from a great through pass from Mikel.

12
Best chance of the match for Nigeria as Ideye blasts over from close range after latching on to a superb cross from the right from Florent Rouamba.

10
Jonathan Pitroipa is released with a long-ball forward, but the pass is just behind the player who tries in vain to set up his strike-partner Moumouni Dagano.

8
A superb ball forward from Mikel John Obi almosts finds Ideye in the box, the big striker bringing the ball down on his chest before being bundled off the ball by Bakare Kone.

5
Emmanuel Emenike tries to create an early chance with a cross from the left into the box but his ball is headed clear by Paul Koulibaly.

3
Now the Super Eagles start to pass the ball around with a measure of composure. Brown Ideye is just offside as he looks to latch onto a long ball forward out of defence.

2
It's a slow and cagey start from both sides who are struggling to maintain possession. The ball has spent more time out of play than on the field in these opening moments.

Once the national anthems are out of the way, we can get down to action.

The stadium is not as packed as it was for the earlier game that ended Zambia 1-1 Ethiopia, but there are large swathes of both Nigeria and Burkina Faso supporters.

The two teams have emerged from the tunnel and are making their way onto the pitch ahead of this eagerly anticipated AFCON tie...

The line-ups are in and news reaching us is that Victor Moses will not start this match. Full teams to follow...

Jonathan Pitroipa is the player most likely to give Nigeria problems, and with his creativity and pace in midifield, the Rennes attacker is more than capable getting the better of defences on his day. Moumouni Dagano and Alain Traore are expected to start alongside Pitroipa in midfield and will have to play out of their skins if the Stallions are to have any chance of pulling off an upset.

The Stallions of Burkina Faso will offer a stern test in their opening match and will look to bounce back from their disappointing showing at their last AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea where they went out in the group stages after losing all of their games.

Expect the ever present John Obi Mikel to control the game from midfield with Chelsea team-mate Victor Moses providing the width in attack. Newcastle forward Shola Ameobi is the most notable absentee for Nigeria, having chosen not to represent the country of his birth after playing for England at youth level.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has brought a new-look side to this year's finals, with only a handful of his team having competed at the continental showpiece before. However, he will be able to count on the experience of captain Joseph Yobo, who takes part in a record sixth AFCON for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria head into this Group C match as clear favourites and will be looking for successful return to the tournament after missing out on the last edition in Gabon and Equitorial Guniea.

Good evening and welcome to our live commentary of this, the sixth game of the Africa Cup of Nations featuring Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
