A dramatically late Van Persie equaliser rescues Manchester United from FA Cup elimination at West Ham in a 2-2 draw. Joe Cole had looked set to inspire the Hammers to victory in a fairytale win on his second debut having set up both headed goals for the excellent Collins either side of half-time to cancel out Cleverley's opener. However, substitute Van Persie stepped off the bench to score a wonderful equaliser in injury time before the final whistle to set up a replay at Old Trafford on 16th January. Again Vaz Te goes for the spectacular. His shooting is again wayward in and around the penalty area as this time the effort goes high over the crossbar.
Both teams have eased off a little in their attacks. They will now be looking towards half-time.

Man United make their dominance count. Hernandez squares the ball across the face of goal and Cleverley, in absolutely acres of space at the back post, finishes first time with a composed side-foot. Terrible defending from West Ham. The marking on Cleverley was non-existent.

Scholes cannot be given this much room to pick his passes from deep in midfield. He again sprays the ball out to the right but Man United's attack breaks down.
West Ham are coming into the game. Vaz Te is tripped by Scholes but play continues and Collison sends a 25-yard effort over the crossbar. That could have been a booking for Scholes.
From the set-piece, Diarra's header has to be cleared off the line and then Vidic just prevents Carlton Cole from knocking in the rebound. That was a danger for Man United.
Potts wins West Ham a corner from Evans after Joe Cole did well to keep the ball alive on the left touchline.
