FT: Stoke 0 Manchester City 1

That's the last meaningful action of the game and it's Manchester City who progress to round five. Thanks for joining me, stay tuned for the full match report and post-match reaction.

Shotton launches another throw into the Manchester City box. It's headed clear by Zabaleta and Milner completes the clearance. Dzeko turns it on to Aguero but Sorensen races from goal to clear off Aguero.

Bit of keepball from Manchester City manages to run nearly a minute off the clock.

Stoke hoist a free-kick into the Manchester City area but Crouch's attempted flick-on merely drifts behind for a goal-kick. Whelan slipped as he lofted it forward which can't have helped the direction of it.

Shotton's long throw squirts off Crouch's thigh and falls nicely for Jerome, but he smashes the ball well off target. We're into the first of five minutes of added time.

Stoke force a throw deep in Manchester City territory.

Barry is helped off by the physio, play resumes with Stoke giving the visitors the ball back and Barry returns to the fray.

Barry down inside his own area and Silva slides it out of play. Not too sure what happened there.

Etherington skips away from a couple of challenges and slides in Walters. His ball in from the left is just too high for Crouch and though the big man gets a head on it, it's easily cleared from danger at the expense of a throw.

Dzeko is booked for kicking the ball away after he's adjudged to have fouled Shawcross in aerial combat. Looked a foul to me.

Tevez departs, with Jack Rodwell replacing him.

GOAL - ZABALETA. The breakthrough comes finally. Silva links with Aguero outside the box and the Argentina slides it in to the area. Dzeko gets a clumsy touch to it as he tries to control but it becomes a perfect pass for Zabaleta, who drills it home at the back post.

Dzeko's arms go skyward now as he appeals for a free-kick. Referee Webb not impressed and play continues.

Crouch not happy as a couple of decisions go against him.

Aguero thumps a shot in but Shawcross blocks it with his knees and Sorensen gathers as it bounces towards the byline.

Better ball in from Shotton, this time with his right foot. Crouch holds off Lescott but his header is always drifting off target.

Stoke build patiently this time but Shotton's left-footed cross is really poor and blocked with little hassle.

Milner does well to get across and slide the ball out as Jerome tries to break. He's got through some work today.

Webb has a chat to Dzeko and Shawcross as he delays the taking of the corner. When the ball does come in, Sorensen rather flaps but the ball strikes a defender and it's cleared. Stoke break quickly and Milner trips Etherington. He's booked and can have no complaints.

Snapshot from Aguero deflects into the side-netting. Corner.

Shotton gets enough on the corner to head it away from danger.

Good, patient build-up play for Manchester City and they fashion a crossing opportunity for Clichy but Jermoe tracks back superbly, albeit at the expense of a corner.

Corner comes to nothing.

Tevez bursts forward and looks to link with Dzeko down the left but his cross in is a poor one. Stoke clear but it's worked back to Dzeko and he cuts inside and powers in a shot which has Sorensen plunging away to his left. Not sure who got a touch, but it's a corner.

Double change for Stoke as Dean Whitehead and Peter Crouch replace Wilkinson and Jones.

Milner clips a ball into the Stoke box but no-one's on the same wavelength and it bounces out harmlessly for a goal-kick.

Jerome gets into the Manchester City box down the inside-right channel but his shot is a weak one and Pantilimon gathers.

Wilkinson does well to get a cross in from the left but Walters' header from 12 yards out is always looping just over the crossbar.

Tevez fashions himself a shooting opportunity on the edge of the Stoke box but it sails high and wide for a goal-kick.

Poor corner when it comes - cleared at the front post for a throw.

Zabaleta forces a corner off Wilkinson down the Manchester City right. End-to-end stuff at the moment.

Pantilimon gathers the corner well centrally.

Cameron Jerome replaces Kightly.

Stoke force a corner down the right.

Optimistic effort from distance from Tevez is straight at Sorensen.

As play switches quickly from one end to the other, Pantilimon gathers a deflected cross from the right well.

Wonderful ball from Silva over the top of the Stoke defence for Barry. He takes a touch across his body and Sorensen does supberly to get across him and smother the ball.

Clichy opts for power rather than a cultured cross from the left and it strikes Shotton and rears out of play for a throw.

Kightly tries to drill a ball over the top but it's much too heavy and drifts through harmlessly.

Manchester City bring Sergio Aguero on for Kolarov.

Whelan shoots from distance but Pantilimon gathers.

Dzeko whips a lovely cross in from the right and Kolarov gets across the front of Shotton but the defender is first there and manages to cannon the ball off Kolarov and behind.

Whelan attempts an angled ball over the top but Milner is tracking back well and is able to see it out pretty easily.

Milner scoops a cross in from the right with his left foot but it's headed clear. The Blues come again, though, as Silva tries to slide in Tevez only to overhit it.

Silva slides the ball across to Tevez on the edge of the Stoke box but he miscontrols and the danger passes and Kolarov shoots wildly over with his right foot.

When the ball is hoisted into the visitors' area, Dzeko does well to make enough of a nuisance of himself for Shawcross to head over the bar.

Free-kick to Stoke now as Garcia catches Jones in the face with a stray arm as they challenge for an aerial ball.

Final ball is a let-down once again as this time Milner shanks a cross behind for a goal-kick.

Shotton joins Kolarov in the book as he tackles Tevez from behind and the Argentine comes crashing down. Think he got the ball there but as we've seen a lot lately that's not enough any more.

Wilkinson's throw is headed back out for another throw by Barry. The second is headed clear by Barry also and when Etherington's ball in falls at Kightly's feet, his shot is weak and Pantilimon gathers easily.

Tevez charges down an attempted lofted ball forward with his hand. Free-kick to Stoke just inside their own half. Ball is hoisted long toward Walters but Zabaleta clears. Etherington comes again but Zabaleta turns it away at the expense of a throw.

Patient build-up from Manchester City down the right before they switch to the left. Clichy's cross is too close to Sorensen and he gathers easily.

With play stopped, Webb has a quick chat with Garcia, presumably about that challenge from Whelan. As he does that, Walters and Kolarov make their way to the touchline but both return to the fray quickly as play restarts.

Clash of heads between Walters and Kolarov and referee Webb quickly stops play so they can be treated.

Snapshot from Dzeko down the left flicks off a Stoke player and behind. The corner is floated in to Barry but he can only head it off target.

Garcia back on but he's not at all happy with that challenge and the more TV replays you see, the more you can understand.

Poor, poor challenge from Whelan as he jumps in two-footed on Garcia, landing on his ankle. That's a red-card challenge for me but he gets away with it. Garcia hobbles off for treatment.

Appeals for handball among the Stoke fans - but not players - as the ball strikes Clichy. Nothing doing.

Stoke get us back under way.

The away side remain odds-on favourites with Sky Bet for the win - they're 4/5. Stoke are 4/1 with the draw 15/8.

That's half-time. Not a huge amount of goalmouth action it has to be said with the two most noteworthy incidents Silva striking the post and Kompany hobbling off.

Silva tries to spray the ball out to Tevez on the right but just puts too much on it and it bounces into touch.

We'll have one added minute.

Etherington bursts forward and slides it out to Walters on the right but his ball in is awful - with Jones outnumbered four to one it's got to be much more precise than that.

Decent enough link play down the right from Manchester City but Tevez's ball in from the right is easily gathered by Sorensen at his front post. Just that final ball lacking at the moment.

Silva skips past a couple of challenges and finds Kolarov down the left. His cross finds Dzeko this time but the big striker can only divert it towards Tevez beyond the back post and his shot finds the side netting.

Etherington whips a corner in from the left which Pantilimon again does well to fist clear of danger. It's worked back to Etherington but he can't turn a cross into the box with his unfavoured right foot.

City back to their full complement as Clichy replaced Kompany, who hobbled off a good five minutes ago. Looks like the visitors have resorted to a back three with Clichy on the left of that three.

Good build-up play from Manchester City ends with Kolarov sliding a cross in from the left but it's a couple of yards too heavy for Dzeko and drifts out for a goal-kick.

Finally movement down on the Manchester City bench - it'll be Gael Clichy coming on for Kompany. Unless they change their mind, of course.

Shotton penalised for a foul on Tevez just inside the Stoke half.

Dzeko - helping out at the back - heads the corner clear. The lack of a substitute as yet is becoming farcical. How hard can it be to decide who is coming on?

Wilkinson tries to find Walters over the top but Lescott is with him stride for stride and turns it behind for a corner.

Just to confirm there's STILL no substitute on - I haven't forgotten!

Whelan curls the free-kick goalwards but it's a wasted effort as it's really tame and Pantilimon gathers without breaking sweat. Manchester City look to spring on the counter but Tevez is caught offside. Looked to be the wrong decision at first glance.

Still no substitute on for Kompany, by the way. As play continues, Kolarov pulls down Walters and is booked. Not sure Walters was getting to that so it's silly from Kolarov.

Innocuous incident there - no-one was near Kompany as he controlled a dropping ball. Looks like he's either rolled his ankle or tweaked his knee - not immediately obvious.

Kompany has picked up an injury and immediately signals to the bench that he won't continue. Bad few moments for Manchester City there, though Dzeko does at least look good to continue.

Looks like Dzeko has taken a sore one - not sure what happened there. With it not being a head injury, play rightly continues and Dzeko eventually gets to his feet.

Free-kick is worked out to Kightly. He whips a cross in from the right which Kompany heads as far as Whelan. His volley is always sliding wide of the left-hand post.

Tevez gets a shot in but it's blocked clear. Jones looks to get it down on halfway but Vincent Kompany tugs his shirt and Stoke get the free-kick almost exactly on the halfway line.

At the other end, Milner curls a cross into the Stoke box but Wilkinson heads clear. 15-all in that battle.

Wilkinson powers forward down the left but Milner is with him every step of the way and nicks the ball back.

Ball in the Manchester City net but it won't count. Etherington's curling free-kick rears up off Lescott. Huth spins and volleys it goalwards, it strikes Shawcross and he prods home. Shawcross was offside, though, so the 'goal' won't stand.

Whelan draws a foul from Barry centrally - chance to loft this one into the Manchester City box.

Shotton launches another missile into the visitors' box but Javi Garcia heads clear pretty comfortably at the front post. Manchester City look to spring forward quickly but Dzeko's cross from the left is too strong and when it's worked back into the middle, he can't get his shot on target.

Throw to Stoke down the right deep in Manchester City territory.

Zabaleta tries to get in down the right but the ball just slides out of play before he can turn it back for Dzeko centrally.

Lovely move from Manchester City with Tevez slid into space down the inside left channel. He can't get the initial shot away as he's closed down quickly but it's then worked back into him. He can't get a solid enough connection on it, though, and the ball screws over the crossbar. Pressure building from the Blues in these last couple of minutes.

Stoke really need to smarten up at defensive free-kicks - that's twice they've been caught out and you'd have to fancy Silva to make it third time lucky if it happens again.

Stoke are caught napping at a set-piece as it's taken quickly once again - and Silva gets the shot away quickly. Sorensen is beaten all ends up but the shot bounces back off the upright.

Wilkinson slides in on Milner down the Manchester City right and is adjudged to have handled. Think it actually hit both of his arms but he still doesn't seem too impressed with the decision.

Tevez hurdles a couple of challenges expertly before sliding the ball across the area to Dzeko. He gets a left-footed shot away but Ryan Shawcross flings himself in the way of it. Stoke looked a little exposed there for a moment.

No real flow to the game at the moment - Stoke are like terriers in midfield and Manchester City have no time to settle onto the ball.

Kolarov whips it in with his left foot but it's straight into the grateful arms of Sorensen, who had no-one else within at least a yard of him in the middle of his six-yard area.

Silly challenge from Etherington on Pablo Zabaleta out wide - free-kick to Manchester City and they'll surely lift this one into the area.

Whelan's corner is aimed for Huth and he gets the contact on it but merely diverts it over the crossbar. Looked like Milner was jumping with the big defender there - that could be a battle to watch at set-pieces.

Acrobatic effort from Glenn Whelan centrally bounces off a Manchester City shin and squirts behind for a corner.

Much better from Pantilimon as he powerfully punches clear Shotton's long throw as it arrows into the Manchester City box.

Pantilimon takes his time over a clearance but then passes it straight out of play down the Manchester City left. Poor.

Silva's cross from the left is half-cleared towards Kolarov but he produces a complete airshot and Stoke clear the danger.

Just not clicking for Manchester City yet - this time Milner's throw-in is passed straight out of play by Tevez as he tries to return it to his team-mate.

Kolarov takes the free-kick from what must be between 25 and 30 yards out but it's sailing over from the moment it leaves his left boot. Disappointing that.

The corner comes to nothing initially but Gareth Barry is first to the ball as it's half-cleared and Shotton trips him. Free-kick to the visitors and this is a chance to get one on target.

Carlos Tevez drills a shot in from the angle which Sorensen plunges away to his left to push around the post.

Matthew Etherington lifts a cross in from the left which Jones manages to head goalwards but he can't get enough on it and with Walters knowing he's offside, he runs under it allowing Pantilimon to gather unchallenged.

Wilkinson does well to shepherd a long ball out of play for a goal-kick with James Milner looking to catch him out.

Shotton clips a cross in from the right but it's too heavy and sails out for a throw-in on the other side.

Robert Huth hoists a long ball forward but it bounces harmlessly through to Pantilimon on the edge of his six-yard box.

Pantilimon scuffs a clearance but Jon Walters can't link with Michael Kightly and the visitors clear the danger comfortably.

Early chance for Edin Dzeko to get a shot away after a cross from the right and it deflects behind for a corner. Stoke caught napping as the corner is taken short and David Silva curls a shot in but it's always sailing high and wide.

Manchester City get us under way.

And now they're on the pitch...

The teams are in the tunnel...

Just to summarise those team lists for you, Manchester City rest Joe Hart with Costel Pantilimon coming in. Joleon Lescott and Aleksandar Kolarov are also recalled in two other defensive changes. Daniel Chadwick writes: "Can't wait for the game, tough Stoke team, proven hard to beat in past but it's going to be 3-1 City and a fifth-round place!"

Kay Guest writes: "Stoke 3-1 - Jones 2 and Huth 1. Another final looming as City won't want it today!"
