All over! Liverpool claim the points after a superb second half fightback. Villa stay in the bottom three

Off-side! Benteke wheels away in celebration after sweeping home but the linesman's flag cuts celebrations short. He was well off-side

Westwood goes in the book after a horrible challenge on Henderson. He went over the ball and was lucky not to see red

The fourth official indicates three minutes of added time

Liverpool having no trouble whatsoever playing down the clock. Villa have not been in the Reds' area for quite some time

Suarez continues to threaten but runs out of pitch and dribbles out of play. Villa have five minutes to find a late leveller

It's just not been Suarez's day in front of goal. He's done everything but score today. He rounds Guzan but Villa get enough men back behind the ball and his attempted chip is caught by the Villa keeper, who gets back on his feet quickly

Liverpool have slowed the tempo of this game down very well. Villa are struggling to make an impression as the clock ticks down

Huge cheer from the Villa fans as old boy Downing sends his free-kick into Row Z!

Rodgers responds with Sterling replacing the impressive Coutinho

A final change for Villa as Sylla makes way for El Ahmadi

Liverpool still playing keep-ball and making Villa chase leather. The home crowd starting to get agitated but this is clever from the Reds

Liverpool in control of possession as the game is played out in midfield

Save! Lowton's mishit cross forces Reina to back-peddle and tip behind

A brief stoppage in play as Bennett receives treatment. Looks like the Villa man will be OK to continue

Delph immediately involved. His left-footed volley is deflected behind for a corner... Off the line! Benteke meets the resulting corner but Gerrard is on the line to head away. Reina immediately gives the Liverpool skipper a hug

Double change for Villa as Weimann and Bannan are replaced by Delph and N'Zogbia.

Almost! Sylla crosses for Weimann but he can't keep his shot down and it sails over. Great chance from eight yards out

That's Gerrard's 11th goal against Villa - more than he has scored against any other team. Can Villa respond?

Gerrard converts! Guzan went the right way but couldn't keep it out

Penalty! Baker dives in and wipes Suarez out. Stone wall penalty for Liverpool

Post! Johnson crashes against the post with Guzan beaten. Liverpool getting closer...

Decent response from Villa, who come forward through Agbonlahor. He feeds Weimann and his dangerous cross is just too high for Benteke, who had found space

Miss! Suarez plays Coutinho clean through but the Brazilian places his shot inches wide of the post. Huge let-off for Villa

Johnson surges out of defence for Liverpool but his pass to Suarez on the edge of the box is cut out

Liverpool all over Villa now. The atmosphere in the ground has changed no end. Can the inexperienced home players weather the storm?

Gerrard picks up a booking for a rash tackle on Agbonlahor, followed by plenty of verbals at referee Mason

Lightning start from Liverpool after the break. On the break, Coutinho slipped through Henderson who dinked superbly over Guzan

Villa 1-1 Liverpool! Henderson!

Villa 1-0 Liverpool. A cracking first-half comes to an end. Benteke's well-taken goal the difference but Liverpool are by no means out of this and have squandered numerous of chances

Save! Another fine stop from Guzan keeps Villa in front. Gerrard this time with the strike but Guzan parried it away from danger. Liverpool pressing before the break

Save! Guzan spares Bannan's blushes! The Scot sliced his pass to send Suarez clear. In the one-on-one situation you fancied the Liverpool man but Guzan stayed big and blocked the shot

Reina has to be on his mettle again to keep out a looping Benteke header. He is causing Carragher all sorts of problems in the air

Very, very ambitious from Suarez. After nutmegging Baker the Uruguayan attempts a 45-yard lob, which drifts well wide and causes plenty of amusement around Villa Park

Crucial tackle from Baker! Gerrard powered into the box after linking up with Suarez but the Villa centre half dived across to make a vital last-ditch block. Fine response from Liverpool

Villa 1-0 Liverpool! Benteke! Westwood's long ball bounces off Agbonlahor and Benteke fires into the corner from the edge of the box!

Suarez turns on the halfway line and runs at the Villa defence. He turns Baker this way and that but his shot lacks power and Guzan gathers easily. Great skill, poor finish

Crucial interception from Vlaar! Suarez was just setting himself to fire Enrique's pull back towards goal but the Villa defender nipped in to take the ball away from him just in time

Liverpool attack this time when Coutinho slips Suarez in but pressure from Baker forces the Reds striker into a snapshot which drifts harmlessly wide. He wants a corner, he's not getting one

More fine hold-up play from Benteke. He frees Weimann, who dances past Agger before firing a cross way over the head of Agbonlahor, who was in a dangerous position inside the box. Villa looking to get as many crosses into the Liverpool penalty area as possible

A cynical foul from Lucas on Agbonlahor. The Brazilian is lucky to escape a booking

Save! Guzan tips a fizzing left-footed strike from Suarez over the bar after a deft reverse-pass from Johnson. The corner is safely collected by the American 'keeper

Downing continues to incur the jeers of the home fans. He almost silences them with a wicked cross which the sliding Coutinho is inches from getting on the end of. Cracking end-to-end game here

Save! Point-blank save from Reina but Agbonlahor really should score. Lowton's low cross was perfect for the Villa attacker but he side-footed straight at Raina from close range. Huge chance goes begging for Villa, who are growing into this match

Some respite for Villa as Weimann leads a break forward. His cross to Benteke is eventually turned behind for the hosts' first corner... but Lowton curls it straight out, much to Paul Lambert's frustration. A real waste with all the big men up

Another scare for Villa. Bannan is robbed in midfield, Henderson slips through Coutinho, but the Liverpool No.10 tries to cut inside and the chance slips away. Liverpool looking dangerous

Appeals from Liverpool for a penalty are turned down after Johnson's left-footed shot struck the arm of Baker. The Villa man could hardly get out the way, though, and referee Mason gives him the benefit of the doubt

Coutinho and Suarez link up well again. Villa will be concerned with how much space Suarez is finding early on here. A mistake from Vlaar gives Liverpool their first corner but nothing comes of it

Suarez is looking sharp and ghosts past Lowton before Henderson lets him down with a return pass which would have sent him clear. The Uruguayan waves his arms in frustration

Chance! Bennett whips in a dangerous cross but Benteke completely misses his header from six yards out. He was put off by Agger but really should have done better

Liverpool stay on the front foot and Enrique's throughball is just too long for Suarez, who had drifted into space

Villa get the game under way inside a cracking atmosphere at Villa Park. Early boos for ex-Villa player Downing, who sees a long-range effort blocked

Famous last words from Jamie Redknapp in the Sky Sports studio: "This cannot be 0-0!" - Let's hope he's right. Here come the players...

Our good friends at Sky Bet have been in touch with the pre-match betting. They say: "Despite their defeat at Southampton last time out Liverpool are firm favourites at 4/6 with Villa on offer at 4/1 and the draw 14/5. Our price boosts include Benteke to score 1st at 6/1 and Gerrard to do likewise at 7/1."

From a neutral point of view there is a real gulf of class on the two benches. No Bent for Villa yet again and Sturridge, Sterling and Shelvey are all good attacking options for the Reds. Could that be the difference?

Here to win
Brendon Rodgers has been speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off. He said: "We've had two weeks to suffer (after 3-1 defeat at Southampton) really but it's given us the chance to analyse, reassess and concentrate on today. Our team is set-up to come, play well and win. We have a strong bench if we need to change things."

Villa doomed
James Sheils: "I'm saying 3-1 Liverpool. I can't see Villa avoiding the drop this year. Suarez brace, one from Countino and Benteke for Villa."

Dog fight
Kevin Gould: "As an LFC fan not looking forward to this game as AVFC are looking to get out of the danger zone and have more to play for, so will scrap for every ball. Whereas LFC players will not want to get stuck in (except for Carra of course and Shelvey if he comes on as the guy is a born battler!) incase they get hurt and out of the shop window as I can see a few leaving in May/June. Not withstanding this, I can see a draw but quite a good game with lots of chances for both sides. Going for 2-2 or even outside bet of 3-3!"

Away win
@tannyy123: "Liverpool to win either 2-1 or 3-1 today might it will be tough."

Easter shock
Iain Kemble predicts: "I see it being a shock on Easter Sunday. A win to Aston Villa or a draw. I'm going with an Villa win, 2-1 with Benteke getting both for Villa. Liverpool's only goal will come from Sturridge who will come on late on."

Score draw says: "Aston Villa to provide a big fight as they try to battle against relegation. Suarez will inevitably get on the scoresheet but with Liverpool playing away from home they will struggle for a clean sheet. A 2-2 draw with Benteke and Weimann to score for Villa."

Paul Lambert's Aston Villa, back in bottom three, are seeking a third win in a row that would see them complete a league double over Liverpool for the first time since the 1992/93 season. Liverpool will be looking to bounce back after a below-par showing at Southampton. They need the points, too, with Merseyside rivals Everton now six points ahead of them in sixth.

Hosts Aston Villa make just one change from the team that beat QPR last time out with Joe Bennett coming in for the injured Ciaran Clark. Four changes for Liverpool with Raina, Carragher, Lucas and Henderson coming in. Sturridge has to make do with a place on the bench.

Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar (capt), Baker, Bennett, Westwood, Bannan, Sylla, Agbonlahor, Weimann, Benteke. Subs: Given, N'Zogbia, Delph, Dawkins, El Ahmadi, Bowery, Lichaj.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher Agger, Enrique, Gerrard (capt), Lucas, Downing, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez.
Subs: Jones, Coates, Skrtel, Shelvey, Sterling, Suso, Sturridge.
