Steve Simonsen: Could make his debut

Steve Simonsen is set for his Dundee debut in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Dundee United after signing a short-term deal earlier this week.

The former Everton and Stoke goalkeeper will replace Rab Douglas, who has been struggling with a thigh injury.

Midfielders Stephen O'Donnell, Mark Kerr (both knee) and Jamie McCluskey (Achilles) are all still missing.

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara could be without six first-team players.

Suspended midfielders John Rankin and Willo Flood have joined long-term injury victims Johnny Russell (broken leg) and Gavin Gunning (knee) on the sidelines.

And captain Jon Daly (groin) and defender Brian McLean (hamstring) are both struggling to make the Tannadice clash.

Teams:

Dundee United (from): Cierzniak, Watson, Dillon, Douglas, McLean, Ryan, Millar, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven, Daly, Gardyne, Thomson, Dow, Souttar, Petrie, Boulding, Tornstrand, Gauld, Banks.

Dundee (from): Simonsen, Irvine, Easton, Lockwood, Toshney, Davidson, McBride, Stewart, J Baird, Nish, Riley, McAlister, Morgan, Conroy, Harkins, Benedictus, Milne, Grassi, Cowan, Gallagher, Finnigan, A Baird.
