FT: Arsenal 0 Blackburn 1

90+4
And that's it! Blackburn, somehow, have weathered 90 minutes of Arsenal onslaught to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. It's a case of missed chances for Arsenal, while Rovers managed to convert one of the few chances they had. Well, I hope you've enjoyed it! I'm Ryan Gordon wishing you a great rest of your weekend. Cheers all!

90+3
A cross into the Rovers area is headed back across the danger zone by Giroud, but there's no-one there in an Arsenal shirt to apply the vital touch. Moments later and the Gunners look destined to level matters but Coquelin's rasping drive from inside the area only rattles the side-netting.

90+2
We're half-way through the added time now and as it stands it is Rovers on their way to a famous win here at the Emirates. Is there to be a late sting in the tail?

90
The fourth official shows there will be four minutes of injury-time for Arsenal to rescue something from this tie.

89
Theo Walcott has a glorious chance to level the scores as he gets a free header on the end of Santi Cazorla's whipped delivery, but the striker puts his effort straight at the goalkeeper, who didn't know anything about it but gratefully makes the save.

87
About Diaby again test the keeper with a rasping drive, but once more the gloveman is equally to the challenge and gets in a strong block.

86
Half-chance for Arsenal now as a lovely floated ball into the area falls to Giroud, but he can't get any power on his header and the goalkeeper simply collects the loose ball.

84
Here come the Arsenal again, but after some threatening build-up play Nacho Monreal only ends up giving the ball away as his shot from the edge of the area flies well wide.

83
Another change for Rovers now with David Goodwillie coming on for Jordan Rhodes.

81
Blackburn try to play their way out of trouble at the back, but they almost play themselves into it as Theo Walcott comes storming in to intercept a cross-field pass, but fortunately for the Rovers defenders he can't make the vital contact and possession goes back to the visitors.

79
Traffic is likely to prove only one way from here on out, although it has felt like that for most of this game, yet it is Rovers who are so far heading in the quarter-finals.

77
A clash of heads between Thomas Vermaelen and Jordan Rhodes brings a break in play so both players can receive some treatment, as are the rules when head injuries are involved.

75
Arsenal have a really good chance to draw themselves level now as Theo Walcott is illegally blocked by Morten Gamst Pedersen on the edge of the area. Jack Wilshere floats this one in and it looks like Giroud is about to head home, but he slips at the vital moment and a golden chance goes begging.

73
The Emirates Stadium is in stupefied silence. Martin Olsson's shot out of nothing forces Wojciech Szczesny to parry the ball back into the danger zone, and although Colin Kazim-Richards completely mis-cues his shot, the bounce takes the ball over the head of Laurent Koscielny before nestling in the back of the net. To say that goal comes against the run of play is a huge understatement.

72
GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Blackburn! Colin Kazim-Richards!

71
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger opts to make all three changes, with Tomas Rosicky, Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming off, while Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott are the men to be introduced. Not a bad trio to see come on if you're an Arsenal fan.

70
More intent from the Gunners now as Diaby is urged to shoot and doesn't disappoint, although his stinging drive is straight at the goalkeeper who does well to hold on to the effort.

69
Vital block from Grant Hanley now as he just manages to get a boot in on Gervinho's attempted shot after the striker found himself running clean-through on goal.

68
Agonisingly close for Arsenal now as Tomas Rosicky gets another chance to shoot, and this one looks like it's destined to end up in the top corner but bounces out off the under-side of the crossbar, much to the home fans' disappointment.

67
A real quality ball into the area with the outside of his foot from Rosicky now, but once more there is no-one in an Arsenal shirt attacking the chance and the defenders can easily clear.

65
Rosicky gets a sight of goal and lines up a shot from the edge of the area, but he can't get the proper direction on his effort as the ball rolls wide of the up-right.

64
First change of the afternoon now, Marcus Olsson coming off for Blackburn, with former Gunner David Bentley coming on for the final 30-or-so minutes.

62
More pressure from the Gunners through the middle of the park, but Blackburn are becoming more and more compressed in defence and an avenue to goal is becoming much more rare.

60
The Arsenal fans are getting a bit more demanding in terms of their side's urgency, and Oxlade-Chamberlain tries to respond with an audacious over-head kick from Giroud's flick-on, but he can't get the right connection and sends his effort sailing well over.

59
Arsenal work another flowing counter-attack, led by Gervinho, but his attempted clip over the defence to Giroud is just intercepted by the head of Scott Dann, while the resulting corner is all too easily cleared by the visiting defenders.

57
Lorne Parker is back and writes: A lot of possession but no real threat at moment... Hopefully we can overpower Blackburn in last 20 minutes..... Come on gooners!

56
Abou Diaby is given acres of space to run into and opts to shoot from 25-yards out, and although he gets plenty of purchase on his effort he can't match it with accuracy and the ball flashes wide of the post.

55
Jordan Rhodes does well to shield the ball after it is cleared from his own area, with Mikel Arteta snapping at the forward's heels a bit too enthusiastically and the visitors are able to regroup thanks to some excellent hold-up play.

53
Arsenal patiently pass the ball around to keep the Rovers defenders chasing shadows, and the finally spring the attack with a ball to Oxlade-Chamberlain out wide, but after cutting back to lose his marker he can't get proper purchase on his shot and it won't trouble this goalkeeper, or any other for that matter.

51
Up at the other end and Rovers have a corner, but it's not a very threatening delivery and Koscielny can easily clear.

50
Francis Coquelin looks to work something for his side with a darting run into the area before laying the ball through for Giroud, but the off-side flag quickly shoots up, although the goalkeeper had it covered any way.

48
Arsenal respond with an attack of their own and, yes, you guessed it, they have another corner. The delivery isn't half-bad and finds the head of Giroud, but he can't get enough power on his header and the keeper is able to save.

47
Blackburn start the second-half much brighter than they ended the frist, and Thomas Vermaelen almost plays the ball into the back of his own net following a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but the defender is fortunate to see his clearance fly just wide of the up-right.

46
And we're back up and running for the second-half, with no changes from either side at the break.

45+1
Mikel Arteta goes for the shot and connects his effort well enough, but it's straight at the goalkeeper who makes a comfortable save, and the referee's whistle a few moments later signals the end of the first-half. Join me after the break to see how this one finishes.

45
Arsenal have a great chance to snatch the lead just before the break now as Giroud is brought down some 35 yards from goal. There's just one minute of added time to be played, so this should prove the final chance of the half...

43
Arsenal really should be 1-0 up now as Tomas Rosicky plays a sublime ball in behind the defence to put Gervinho clean-through, but the Ivory Coast international can only roll his shot wide of the far-post. Poor finish from the striker, it must be said.

42
Around three minutes to go until half-time here, and I think Michael Appleton will be more than happy to get his Rovers side into the break with the scores still goalless.

40
Fancy feet from Oxlade-Chamberlain now as he dinks the ball back between his own legs in the area in an attempt to full Grant Hanley, but the defender does well to stand his ground and legally blocks the winger from the ball to allow his keeper to collect.

39
Rovers finally show some attacking intent and Jordan Rhodes almost gets on the end of Olsson's flick in the area, but Vermaelen is there to power his header well clear of the danger.

38
Wojciech Szczesny's first real contribution to the game is to run off his line to get to the ball ahead of Lee Williamson, with the goalkeeper seemingly unaware of his bearings and opting to head out to touch from inside his own area.

37
More patient from Arsenal now as they spray the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, while Monreal's eventual shot is deflected behind for a corner, which is played short to allow the Gunners to get back into a passing stride.

35
Here's that Blackburn counter-attack I mentioned earlier as Lee Williamson breaks down the wing with real purpose, but Thomas Vermaelen does really well to keep his eye on the ball and is able to nip possession off the winger after he had tried to cut inside.

33
Gervinho plays a smart one-two with Giroud before going down on the edge of the area, but the referee's having none of it and waves play-on, although it looks like he might have a word with the forward about going down too easily. No booking though, and play goes on.

31
More of the same from the home side now as Oxlade-Chamberlain wins possession in his own half before breaking through on goal, cutting this way and that before looking to find Rosicky out wide, but the Czech had checked his run at the last minute and a potentially dangerous move comes to nothing.

30
The latest set-piece is brought to a premature end though for a foul inside the area which leaves Bradley Orr down and needing some attention.

29
Gervinho wiggles his way down the line and into the area before looking to find Olivier Giroud at the near-post, but the ball is cut out for yet another Arsenal corner. The delivery looks harmless enough, but Giroud manages to get a head on it and it almost looks to be sneaking in the top corner, but the keeper is quick to claw the ball behind.

28
The visitors have their first chance to get the ball into the Arsenal area from a free-kick, and Morten Gamst Pedersen's delivery isn't too bad but there's too much pace on it and Scott Dann can't get a proper connection and heads well wide.

26
Blackburn just simply have not got into this game and Arsenal are having the run of the park. They haven't been too threatening, mind you, and Arsene Wenger will be mindful of being caught out by a potential counter-attack.

24
Another Arsenal corner, and this time it's a really good one which finds the head of Abou Diaby to allow the unmarked midfielder to power his effort at goal, but Jake Kean shows great reflexes to just get a glove on the ball to tip it away to safety.

23
Gervinho does brilliantly to skin his marker and break to the by-line before cutting the ball back into the area, but there's too much of an angle on the pass and it goes behind two of his on-rushing team-mates.

21
Once more it's a disappointing delivery though as Rosicky's cross flies straight into the hands of the goalkeeper.

20
There's a fairly subdued atmosphere at the Emirates, although it picks up a notch now as some good one-touch play between Rosicky and Diaby wins the home side their umpteenth corner...

18
We've only had 18 minutes of play and already I've lost count of Arsenal's corners. They've got another one now, which Rosicky whips in, and although it makes it into the middle of the area, there's no Arsenal player attacking the ball and the danger is easily cleared.

17
Another Arsenal corner, but this one is the worst of the lot as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's delivery hardly leaves the turf before being cleared by the first defender.

15
Rovers finally get the ball under control and get some quick touches of the ball at the back, but Lee Williamson is guilty of dawdling in possession and the Gunners quickly nip in to take control again.

14
Back-to-back corners for the hosts on the other side of the Blackburn by-line, but Laurent Koscielny can't quite direct his header and puts the ball wide.

12
Gervinho leads the latest Arsenal attack but his pass out wide to Tomas Rosicky takes the midfielder wide, and he can only win his side a corner. He steps up to put this one in the area, but it doesn't clear the first man and Rovers can easily deal with that.

11
Blackburn have seen very little of the ball since the opening minutes, and even when they do get a foot on it they're quickly robbed of possession by a hard-working Arsenal midfield.

9
More pressure from the hosts now as Nacho Monreal plays the ball against the arm of his marker to win a free-kick out wide. The full-back takes kicking responsibilities and puts in a decent ball, but Abou Diaby's header is off target and fizzes over the crossbar.

8
Another caller now, with Lorne Parker saying: Always worry when I see Diaby's name on team sheet..... Come on Gooners!

7
Oxlade-Chamberlain really looks up for this one and runs at the defenders to get into the area before squaring his pass back across the face of goal, but there aren't any Arsenal shirts around and the defenders can clear.

6
Much better from the Gunners now as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain breaks down the right wing before reverse-passing the ball behind for Tomas Rosicky, but his attempted cross into the area is mis-hit and flies behind for a goal-kick.

5
Becca Wotherspooon is the first to be heard, and emails in: I have a feeling, that without Wilshere on the pitch our plays are going to break down in midfield. But hopefully Arteta can keep our team together!

4
Meanwhile, Arsenal's first attack of the day is a lumped ball from the back by Thomas Vermaelen, but it's to no-one in particular and eventually bounces out for a goal-kick.

2
Rovers look to attack down the left wing early on, and Martin Olsson wins his side a free-kick in a promising position, and he almost converts it at the far-post but can only volley a flick-on wide of the up-right.

1
And we're up and running here in north London!

Plenty at stake today then, but how about upping the ante by visiting our friends at Sky Bet, who have Arsenal as 30/100 favourites to win with Blackburn 8/1 for an upset and 9/2 to earn a replay, while Olivier Giroud is the 3/1 favourite to score first.

Here's your chance to get involved by emailing any thoughts or predictions for today's game to ryan.gordon@teamtalkmedia.com and I'll share them with our other readers, right here.

We're just a few minutes away from the kick-off now, and the two sets of players are led out on the Emirates Stadium pitch by referee Mike Dean.

Just two changes for Blackburn, meanwhile, with Morten Gamst Pedersen and Lee Williamson replacing DJ Campbell and Danny Murphy, while former Arsenal man David Bentley will be hoping to get his chance off the substitutes' bench.

So, Wenger makes no fewer than seven changes to the Arsenal side that beat Sunderland last time out, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho two of those hoping to impress from the start, while Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are on the bench.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Coquelin, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Monreal, Diaby, Rosicky, Arteta, Gervinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud Subs: Mannone, Sagna, Podolski, Wilshere, Walcott, Ramsey, Cazorla

Blackburn: Kean, Orr, Dann, Grant Hanley, Martin Olsson, Pedersen, Williamson, Lowe, Markus Olsson, Kazim-Richards, Rhodes Subs: Usai, Givet, Nunes, Nuno Gomes, Rekik, Goodwillie, Bentley

A quick look at the team-sheets then...

Arsene Wenger's men are also undefeated in five outings, though, and currently sit four points behind fourth in the Premier League, while the FA Cup provides the side with one of their most likely sources of a trophy this season.

Michael Appleton's side are undefeated in their last five in all competitions, while seven points from their last three league matches have taken them to within six points of the play-off places.

The Gunners are odds-on favourites to progress to the quarter-finals at the expense of their Championship opposition, although the north London giants also have a Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday to think about.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I'm Ryan Gordon and I'll be taking you through all the action as Arsenal host Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round. Kick-off is at 15:00.

Do City Really Need To Expand Their Stadium?

That's the question posed by one Man United fan in the mailbox after seeing the empty seats at the Etihad last night. Sadly, there isn't a single mail from a City supporter...

We have the last of these as well as mails on Liverpool, Wayne Rooney, QPR, Arsenal's injuries and more. It's a mailbox that's Alonso rather than Rafael, if you will...
