FT: Burkina Faso 1 Togo 0

FT
It's all over and Burkina Faso have beaten Togo 1-0 to book their place in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with Ghana. Neither side were able to break the deadlock in 90 minutes with extra-time needed, but the Stallions' star player Jonathan Pitroipa popped up with a well-taken header to hand his side the victory. Thank you for joining me and good night.

120+3
Bossou booked late on.

120+1
There are a lot of dejected Togolese faces out there as the realisation sinks in that their AFCON is coming to an end...

120
There will be three minutes of added time here...

118
Djene gets back well to cut out a cross from the left as Burkina Faso look to extend their lead.

116
Moustapha Salifou replaces Komlan Amewou.

115
Togo continuing to look for a goal but with Burkina Faso having conceded one goal throughout the tournament, it looks hopeless for Adebayor and Co. now...

110
Appeals for a penalty for a sandwich on Ramao but nothing is given.

109
Florent Rouamba replaces the goalscorer Pitroipa.

107
Dove Wome replaces Serge Akakpo.

105
The two sides will change sides immediately as we come to the end of the first half of extra time...

Charles Kabore's cross from the right is headed home off the underside of the cross bar. Pitroipa was unmarked there in front of the near post but did well to wrap his head around that and power home.

105
GOAL BURKINA FASO: Pitroipa

104
Two corners in quick succession for Burkina Faso, but they can they make anything from their attacking edge here?

103
Some really good interplay from both sides as Koulibaly looks to release Pitroipa but his ball forward is overhit.

100
Koulibaly keeps his composure to time his tackle inside the box on Adebayor well.

98
Kossi makes a good low save to deny Abdou Razak Traore from a tight angle out wide on the left.

96
Kone does well to stop Gakpe as he tried to run across the big box line and feed Adebayor.

96
Abdoul Razack Traore replaces Wilfried Sanou.

94
Good chance for Burkina Faso who lose possession in the Togo box after some good approach play from Nakoulma.

93
Djene delivers a free-kick from distance that is easily cut out by Diakite.

92
Booking for Ramao for clothes-lining Kabore.

91
Nibombe goes long for Adebayor who is offside...

91
Togo get this first half of extra time underway...

90+3
Neither side can force a goal meaning we will head to an extra 30 minutes before potentially the lottery of penalties...

90
There will be three minutes of added time here...

88
Djene concedes a corner late on here from a Panandetiguiri cross - the delivery is poor as Adebayor heads clear.

85
It's end to end stuff here from both sides but with no end product as time begins to run out, with extra-time looming...

82
Nakoulma cuts inside and out, inside the box but is eventually forces wide with his shot as Dare Nibombe comes across to help out Bossou.

80
A great passage of play sees Gakpe pick the ball out wide right but his cross bypasses everyone in the box.

78
Adebayor rides two challenges, from Koulibaly and Kone, before testing goalkeeper Diakite who holds his own to make a good low save.

76
Pitroipa then comes close with an effort from a tight angle that is somehow deflected onto the top of the net.

75
Burkina Faso should have had a penalty there with Prejuce Nakoulma upended there by Bossou.

74
Kossi Segbefia really should have scored there after a poor defensive header from Koulibaly set up the shot that he can't keep down.

72
Good chance here from a set-piece for Burkina Faso following a foul on Pitroipa by Bossou. Sanou lays the ball across the turf for Kabore who fires high and wide.

67
Kossi Segbefia replaces Floyd Ayite.

66
Prejuce Nakoulma replaces Issouf Ouattara.

65
Vincent Bossou can't get his header, from the resultant corner on target, under pressure from Pitroipa.

64
Good sliding block from Bakary Kone to steer clear a Floyd Ayite cross from the left.

62
Some good interplay from Moumouni Dagano and Djakaridja Kone only results in a corner for Burkina Faso - that is easily cleared.

60
Good defending from Serge Akakpo to stop Pitroipa from racing through on goal.

58
Togo threaten again with Komlan Amewou denied a shooting chance before Floyd Ayite's cross is well cut out by Mohamed Koffi.

56
Abdul Mamah wastes a good chance to put in a good delivery from the right with his ball going straight out of play.

54
Moumouni Dagano does well bring the ball down in the box on his chest and lay if off for Wilfried Sanou who eventually concedes a free-kick trying to battle for the ball.

52
Koffi puts in a great cross from the right but there aren't enough Burkina Faso forward to capatalise on that one.

50
Mohamed Koffi scrambles across from the right to clear away from the onrushing Adebayor.

48
Ayite makes a great drive forward before touching onto Adebayor who in turn finds Gakpe out wide on the left, and his ball back into the box finds the Togo captain who gets there ahead of Daouda Diakite to shoulder the ball goalward but Saidou Panandetiguiri makes a goal line clearance.

46
Burkina Faso kick us off...

The two sets of players have arrived onto the pitch ahead of this second half...

HT
Well there are no goals to report as the players head down the tunnel with the referee calling an end to the first half here. Remember we need a winner, so both teams should come out with more purpose in the second half...

45+2
Alaixys Ramao comes closer at the other end with a good strike form the edge of the big box.

45+1
Dare Nibombe easily heads clear a good Wilfried Sanou cross from the right.

Decent effort from Komlan Amewou that isn't too far off the target from at least 30 yards.

43
Charles Kabore for a foul on Komlan Amewou.

41
Adebayor looks to break on goal but is eventually guided out of play after pushing the ball too far ahead of him by Bakary Kone.

40
Issouf Ouattara and Abdul Mamah both cautioned.

38
Wilfried Sanou tries his luck from 25 yards but it lacks any real power.

36
Pitroipa delivers a great cross from the left but Agassa Kossi gets to the ball first with Moumouni Dagano eagerly awaiting the ball.

34
Gakpe booked for a foul on Kone.

30
Daouda Diakite gets a hand to a deep cross to take the ball away from Adebayor at the back post.

28
Burkina Faso's best chances goes a begging as Pitroipa is unable to put the final touch to a good move that saw Sanou's goalward shot hit the heel of Bossou before falling to the frontman.

26
Issouf Ouattara heads just wide of the target after a good cross from Wilfried Sanou following some god build up play with Charles Kabore.

25
Djakaridja Kone does well to shepherd Adebayor away from goal and concede a corner - that comes to nothing.

24
Adebayor sets Abdul Mamah beautifully down the right flank with acres of space but his first touch is poor and his cross even worse.

22
Bossou kicks Pitroipa with both players challenging for the ball in the box - but no penalty given.

20
Ayite booked for a rash challenge on Charles Kabore.

18
Floyd Ayite wastes a great chance to give Togo the lead with a tepid shot right in front of goal. Alaixys Ramao set Gakpe away down the right with a neat chipped ball, which was then cut back for the waiting Ayite who only manages to scuff his shot.

17
Pitroipa cuts inside from the right hand side before unleashing a stinging shot that is blocked by Bossou.

16
Issouf Ouattara makes a great run down the left, leaving Vincent Bossou for dead but his cross goes straight out for a goal-kick.

14
Jonathan Pitroipa is unlucky to be brought back for a high boot after getting the better of Dare Nibombe. He would have been free to race through on goal...

12
After a good passage of play, the ball finally breaks to Akakpo on the edge of the box but he can't keep his shot on target.

9
Komlan Amewou wins a free-kick for a foul from Djakaridja Kone - Serge Gakpe's delivery is good but Paul Koulibaly gets there first to head clear.

7
Togo struggling to get out of their own half here as Burkina Faso probe down the right flank.

5
Koffi then presses forward himself, chesting the ball down before smashing a shot goalward that is fairly easy pickings for Agassa Kossi in the end.

4
Emmanuel Adebayor drives purposefully forward down the left flank but it ultimately stopped in his tracks by Mohamed Koffi.

3
It's a scrappy start to this match as you can expect from this appalling pitch...

1
Togo kick off this quarter-final tie...

Besides Traore, both sides are fully fit and ready to do their duty.

Togo, led by the influential striker Emmanuel Adebayor, are not short of confidence. They bounced back from a 2-1 loss to tournament favourites Ivory Coast by beating Algeria 2-0 and drawing 1-1 with Tunisia to write a new chapter in Togolese football.

They have as good a chance as the Togolese to write AFCON history by entering the next round, and speaking of history, this is the furthest Togo have come in the continental championship.

A goalless draw against Chipolopolo, a 1-1 draw with Nigeria and the 4-0 whipping of Ethiopia ensured their passage to the quarters, albeit without the influential playmaker Alain Traore, who picked up an injury in the game against the Zambians.

Neither side were fancied to make it through the group stages but the Stallions won their group ahead of Nigeria and ousted 2012 AFCON winners Zambia.

The pitch at the Mbombela Stadium has been highly criticised during the entire tournament and will surely play it's part as one of these two teams looks to secure a semi-final clash with Ghana...

Good afternoon and welcome to our live commentary of this evening's AFCON quarter-final clash between Burkina Faso and Togo.

Live updates will appear here from 1830 GMT...
