Man Utd 1 Man City 2. The visitors take the spoils, three points and local bragging rights. United's lead at the top cut to 12 points.

Final few seconds at Old Trafford. City play the free-kick into Aguero, but he can't hold the ball up. Late chance for United, and Valencia wins a corner. Van Persie takes and Hart gathers Evra's header.

Valencia now booked for sliding into Barry. Both men stretching for the ball.

Another change, with Javi Garcia thrown on in place of Tevez. He is booed from the field by the home support, but cheered from it by the away fans. He is in no rush to get off.

City see the set-piece away. United still pressing, until Giggs loses the ball. City run the ball out with Aguero. He is clipped by Rafael, who becomes the latest to have his name taken. Late flurry of cards and changes.

Another late change, with Young hobbling off and Kagawa introduced. Free-kick finally taken and Lescott nods it behind for a corner.

Zabaleta is booked for the challenge. He did come through the back of Valencia and took his legs away.

Just to clarify, Lescott on in place of Silva. All going on at the moment. With play back underway, Valencia goes down under a tackle from Zabaleta.

Four minutes of stoppage time to be played.

Arguments still going on. Mike Dean has had a long think about what he is going to do. His decision is...yellow card for Barry. Not sure he was leading that. Silva has gone off. Lescott on.

Silva down, but United will play on. Rafael with a poor cross and City can put the ball out. Boos from the away support. Aguero and Ferdinand squaring up. Jones gets involved. Players from both sides pile in. Unsightly scenes. United didn't have to put the ball out.

Van Persie's delivery is met by Jones, but he is reaching for the header and nods wide. Toure did enough to put him off. Solid defending at the other end from Rafael as he nods back to De Gea with Tevez at his back.

Hernandez involved down by the corner flag. He does well to force Kompany into a clumsy challenge. Free-kick to United wide on their left. Terrible delivery from Young trickles along the floor, but somehow makes it way through the box and behind for a corner.

Evra forces a throw deep in the City half. United can't work any space. When it does arrive, Carrick goes short into Giggs. He goes wide, and Clichy crashes into Rafael. Tackles still flying around.

Van Persie with an effort on target, but he fails to trouble Hart with a header from the middle of the box. City can't get anything going in the United half, as Tevez is pulled up for a foul. Before the free-kick is taken, Rooney is replaced by Hernandez.

Back underway with Zabaleta still not happy. City taking their time with everything now. Hart eventually drills long, over the head of Tevez and behind for a goal kick. Hernandez being readied by United. No surprise there.

Mancini on his feet and looks a bit more involved than he did earlier. On the field, Zabaleta goes down and gets involved in an exchange of words with Young. The pair are pulled apart.

Carrick and Giggs combine, and win a free-kick. City pulling plenty of bodies behind the ball. Giggs slips past them and into space inside the box. He feeds the ball through Barry's legs, but Van Persie can only poke wide on the stretch.

Rooney battling with Milner. He is desperate to get to the ball, but the City man blocks his path, before going down. Free-kick to City. Milner stays down. He would appear to have a touch of cramp - not surprising given the yardage he has out in tonight.

Young and Evra move down the left. A cross is attempted from the latter. It appears to glance off Milner on its way into the side-netting, but a goal kick is given. Hart takes his time.

Can United respond again? They will look to do so without Welbeck, as he makes way for Valencia. Fresh legs for the hosts.

GOAL MAN CITY - AGUERO. What a goal from Aguero. City patient in their build-up, which eventually finds Aguero. He picks the ball up 20 yards out, runs away from Welbeck and Jones and hammers high above De Gea and into the roof of the net.

Welbeck looks to be moving into space for a moment, but sees the door slammed in his face. He looks back to Young, who sets himself from 25 yards out. His low shot forces Hart into making a save. City press, but United won't let them through.

Rooney pops up on the right this time. He lays the ball off to Rafael, whose first-time delivery isn't the best. Ball back with Rooney, but he is surrounded by blue shirts. The ball goes wide to Young, but his cross dug out from the sideline is easily dealt with.

Rooney cuts inside off the left wing. No way through, so he looks to keep the ball. United end up going all the way back to De Gea. He lumps forward, but no-one can get a touch and the ball ends up with Hart.

More good work by Van Persie. He goes out to the left again and battles his way to a corner. Clichy concedes the set-piece. Van Persie takes himself and Hart comes through the crowd to punch clear.

Carrick sees the ball back to De Gea. He clears and Nastasic is pulled up for bundling into the back of Van Persie. Barry takes a blow to the face from his own man. He will be okay to continue.

City now going with two up top. Aguero's first involvement sees him win a throw off Ferdinand. United not happy with the decision. City get on with it and Silva is picked out on the edge of the box. His view of goal is blocked.

Silva floats a clever ball into Nasri. He watches the ball drop over his shoulder, but can't set himself and flicks a volley over the bar. His last involvement as he makes way for Aguero.

Van Persie with good hold up play again, bringing others into play. Young this time can get a decent delivery into a colleague, with a whipped cross flicked on by Welbeck. Hart down quickly to save low to his left. Movement on the touchline.

Silva goes short to Milner. He combines with Kompany, before going down. He gets nothing. Nervy moment for Clichy as he chases back and looks to see the ball to Hart. He has to hurry and clear his lines well outside his box.

Zabaleta down the line for Tevez, but Jones is there once again for United. He has been brilliant so far. Evra then called into action to prevent another cross coming over. He blocks behind for a corner.

Van Persie drops deep to get involved. He hasn't had much of a sniff so far, but did set-up the goal. United looking to get forward, but Rooney goes too soon and the flag goes up. City can slow things down again.

Milner has Zabaleta breaking past him down the right flank. The ball is sent his way, forcing Jones to slide across and concede a corner. Silva over the set-piece. His delivery is whipped into the hands of De Gea. He is then caught by Barry as he looks to clear.

Aguero out warming up. Expect to see him soon. Not yet, though, as City look to restore their lead. Clichy forced to go backwards and Welbeck toes the ball to Young. Once again he can't find a team-mate with a pass.

Nasri and Toure combine, but face a wall of red. They find Silva, who in turn feeds Tevez. He drags a shot from the edge of the box, which clips off the heels of Silva on its way wide. Silva flagged offside.

Looking at the United goal again. Toure didn't need to bundle Rafael over and you have to question Hart's starting position for the free-kick as the delivery cut him out. In the past now and it's all to play for again.

Great noise inside Old Trafford. Anyone who thought this would be a quiet affair with nothing riding on it was well wide of the mark. On the field, Milner limps away from a tackle. Jones then stops him getting down the City right and Silva sends a pass out of play.

Toure escapes from two tackles and finds Silva. He goes left to Nasri. He finds Silva again, who twists and turns inside the box. He hangs up a cross, which De Gea challenges for. He ends up on the floor and gets a free-kick. Zabaleta did jump into him.

Home support now in full voice. Seven minutes between the goals. We expected goals and drama, and we are now getting it. How much more to come?

GOAL MAN UTD - KOMPANY OG. We are all square again. Van Persie hammers the free-kick over at pace. Hart flaps at thin air and Jones nods onto the back of Kompany and into the back of the net. Will go down as an own goal.

Nasri away from Rafael, but not Carrick. Rafael is then sent scampering down the right. Toure goes with him and bundles him to the turf. Free-kick to United wide on their right, level with the penalty spot. Van Persie trots over to take.

Rooney clips the ball towards Welbeck, but Clichy is there. Toure then disappointed to see a call go against him. United on the front foot and inside the City half. Good work from Barry as he comes through Carrick to get the ball.

Young sends the ball down the line for Giggs to chase, but Kompany is always winning that race. He hacks out for a throw. Evra gathers the ball and cuts inside. He can't find Van Persie. City unable to break this time.

Clichy with space on the space. He finds Silva, then Nasri. He shifts onto his right foot, but Carrick is able to nick the ball off his toe. United can't get out of their own half and City pull everyone back. Ferguson now mulling things over on the bench. What changes can he make?

United win a corner. Rooney too eager to get on with things and sends his delivery in low to the front post. The ball does end up back with him, but his second effort is no better and Hart can come and claim. City counter through Tevez.

Mike Dean having a word with Nastasic after seeing him clatter into a challenge. No card on this occasion, No surprise to find the away support making plenty of noise.

Looking at the goal, three City players were stood in offside positions. Question is, were any them in De Gea's line of vision? They might have been, but goal stands.

GOAL MAN CITY - MILNER. United can't clear their lines, with Giggs giving the ball away. Barry carries the ball forward. Nasri is blocked off, but he tees up Milner and his low drive takes a deflection on its way into the bottom corner.

Carrick into Giggs, who clips the ball forward towards Van Persie. Composed defending from Kompany as he brings the ball down on the edge of his own box. City look to counter, but can't get Tevez away. He dives in to try and block a De Gea clearance.

Giggs delivers into a dangerous area. Hart does really well to get a hand to the ball under pressure. Decision goes his way, with Welbeck penalised for obstructing the City keeper. Milner then tussles with Evra again, and the decision goes against him. Running battles all over the field.

Kompany clears from in front of Rooney, but only to Giggs. Rafael pushing on again, and he forces a throw. He then looks to whip over a cross, which flicks off Clichy and behind for a corner.

Rafael into Van Persie on the edge of the box. He skips past his man and fires over a right-footed cross. United keep the ball in and find Welbeck. He goes down inside the box, but is waved back to his feet.

Ferdinand heads a cross up, rather than out. Tevez looking to challenge for the loose ball, but puts his body in the way and concedes a free-kick. Good front play from Van Persie as he pulls wide and wins a throw. United move up the field en mass.

No changes at half-time by either side. City on the ball, moving it from left to right. Kompany picks out Silva, but he can't find a way past Jones. Milner can, but his cross is cut out.

Ferguson indulges in a spot of cheerleading on his way back out. City get the second half underway.

No goalless draw for United since April 2011 - suggests we will get a breakthrough at some point. Who will get it? We are about to find out as the players are back with us.

George Douglas says: "I think it will be 2-1 to city at full time with Augerrrrrooooooooooo to get the winner :)"

Kevin Carberry says: "I think it could end 1-1 rr 2-1 to United."

Mazin Nasralla says: "Why wasn't Rooney sent off? Same old story of refereeing decisions benefiting Man Utd. They have not conceded a penalty or seen a red card awarded against them in the League this season. How many points is that worth?"

Glenn Syder says: "The game so far shows what most United fans knew already we are short in the middle of the park we have been a bit fortunate this season that city ain't been better and we haven't been found out in that area but needs to be addressed next season I can see this one ending in stalemate."

Gerry in Miami says: "I can see Hernandez coming on, scoring, giving Man Utd 1-0 win and sealing the title for this season."

Daniel Diangangu says: "United will try to hold off City and play on the counter which might work because City will go all guns blazing I'm going for 2-0 City."

Omar says: "I reckon United will win 2-0. Goals from Rvp and Kagawa, can see Rooney being subbed for Kagawa during this interval."

Joe Thompson says: "I think the game will finish 2-0 Manchester United. Even though City feel confident I don't think they're good enough!!"

Man Utd 0 Man City 0. All square at the interval. City not happy at not being allowed to finish their attack, but that's it for the opening 45 and we are goalless.

Giggs loses out in midfield. City looking to end the half on a high. Silva floats over a cross, but United can clear. Rooney caught on the ball on the edge of his own box, but there are enough red shirts back.

One minute of stoppage-time to be played.

Milner, a little rattled, kicks out at Evra. This time a free-kick is given. Scrappy in midfield until Carrick picks out Rafael. He sells Welbeck short and Clichy can clear for a throw. United work the ball well, with Carrick picking out Van Persie. He nods down for Rafael, who loops a toe poked effort onto the post.

Evra down now after clashing with Milner. He is holding his face. Milner led with his arm as he challenged for a high ball but didn't catch the United defender. Evra soon back on his feet, no surprises there.

Rooney whips over the set-piece. Clichy's clearing header isn't the best and drops towards Van Persie on the edge of the box. He sets himself for a difficult volley, and sends the ball soaring high into the crowd.

Hart fires long, and Evra climbs highest to clear. Ball takes a while to be returned to Zabaleta. City try too much in a tight space and United win the ball back. Kompany is booked for clattering through Young.

Tevez helps the ball over his head and into the box. No runners in blue and De Gea comes to claim. United look to play their way out. They have to go long eventually, and lose possession. City can't keep it and Rafael sets off. He thinks he has won a corner off Clichy, but decision goes against him.

Barry pulls wide to the left wing, but has to go backwards. He then gives it away and Van Persie is off and running. Kompany halts him, before Giggs crunches into yet another challenge. He gets a talking to, nothing more.

Mancini now down on the sidelines directing proceedings. He can be happy enough with how his side have done so far. They are on the ball again, with Giggs conceding another foul. This time he sends Barry flying. Not a man you consider to be a midfield enforcer, but he is tonight!

Young takes over and drifts past Zabaleta. He then sends over a cross-shot which is bundled behind by Nastasic. Rooney over the set-piece. He hangs it high to the back post. Evra is there, but can only plant a header well off target.

City slow things down to walking pace in midfield. United get plenty of men behind the ball. They can't stop Clichy crossing, but Jones deals with the delivery and Rooney can run the ball clear.

Barry bundles over Rooney, but nothing given. Toure moves through the gears and threads a pass towards Tevez. He loses his feet at the vital moment and ends up on the deck. Cue ironic cheers from the home support for a familiar face.

Tevez gives chase with Carrick down the left wing. There is a coming together and the decision goes City's way, as Tevez was able to step across his man. Milner delivers, and Van Persie nods clear. Another poor set-piece from Milner.

Ferdinand spots Rooney setting off, and loops the ball over the City defence. The flag goes up and Rooney couldn't find a cross anyway. United win the ball back, but Young's cross is cleared by Nastasic.

City try to take the free-kick from the wrong place - a good 20 yards away from the incident. When they do go long, they end up sending the ball through to De Gea. Tevez got nowhere near the long punt forward.

Evra over a throw for United. Van Persie touches on towards Young, but Zabaleta is there again. Rooney is then pulled up for a foul on Milner. He did jump into a challenge two-footed. He's lucky he didn't catch Milner or he could have been in real trouble.

Free-kick to United wide on their left. Van Persie swings the ball over, and it is allowed to travel a long way. Zabaleta sends the ball spinning behind for a corner. Rooney delivers, but only as far as Kompany. Young gathers the loose ball, before returning it into the stands. Wayward effort on goal from 25 yards.

Rafael tripped by Toure on halfway. Ferguson making plans on the bench. United send the ball back to De Gea. He goes long on to the head of Welbeck. Van Persie wins a free-kick off Nastasic, with the City man nudging him in the back.

Tevez brings Zabaleta into play down the right. He crosses towards Silva. He is never going to beat Ferdinand in the air and is cautioned for throwing a hand at the ball.

Rafael makes progress down the right flank. Good work from Nasri as he tracks all the way back. He stays with the United man and the ball ends up breaking off Nasri, onto Rafael and behind for a goal kick. City prepared to be patient and play their way out from the back.

City bossing possession at the moment. Mancini rooted to his seat in the stands. On the field, Clichy has space down the left. City work the ball well, with Silva and Milner involved. The latter fires a low shot into the arms of De Gea.

Tevez away from Ferdinand and finds Silva. He fires a low pass into Nasri. He is able to spin inside the box and face the target. He rushes his shot and ends up poking well wide. Warning to United.

Nasri into the feet of Tevez. His cross is only half-cleared to Barry. He looks right towards Milner, but can't find him. United had men pouring back as City threatened. Both sides have looked solid at the back so far.

Nasri once again allowed to wander forward before being closed down. He ends up skipping past Ferdinand, but Jones is there again for United on the cover. United move forward, with Giggs sending over a teasing cross which Kompanu has to deal with.

Head tennis in midfield, until Carrick gets a hold of the ball. Van Persie then looks wide to Rafael, but he has two shirts preventing him from bombing forward. United settle for a free-kick on halfway. They squander the set-piece.

Young sees Van Persie looking to break, but can't pick him out. Toure and Welbeck dive into a tackle on halfway. United man comes out on top. Van Persie is found now, and his shot from 20 yards out balloons into the air for Giggs to nod over.

Milner able to work a yard past Evra and whip over a cross. Nasri gets a touch at the back post and City remain in possession. Kompany invited forward, and picks out a run from Silva into the box. He squares for Tevez, who can't get a telling touch as Jones dives in front of him.

Jones able to nod a Nastastic long ball back to De Gea. A couple of aimless efforts from both sides in the last couple of minutes. Safe to say both are better on the deck than they are pumping it long. Ball is now on the floor with the City back four.

Rafael wastes possession. He knocks the ball over Clichy and into space, when Welbeck had come looking for it short. Clichy with a wayward pass across his own goal. Kompany reacts just in time.

Not the best of moments for Milner as he allows the ball to run under his boot as it is nodded back out to him. Giggs does well to provide defensive cover and help United to clear their lines.

Nasri allowed to carry the ball to the edge of the box, before finding Silva. He combines with Barry, who gets over a cross. The ball is knocked down to Tevez, who battles with Evra and wins a corner. Milner's delivery is poor.

Zabaleta looks to nudge Evra in the back, but is waved on. His hanging cross to the back post is touched back by Nasri, but towards no-one. Giggs crashes into another challenge, this time on Silva. He gets away with it. Taking no prisoners tonight the veteran Welshman.

Carrick feeds a clever pass into the feet of Rooney just inside the box. He plays it first time towards Giggs, but he fails to read his intention and remains rooted to the spot. Had he gone, he would have been onside and in on goal. Nice football from the hosts.

Van Persie tripped by Barry. 100mph stuff at the moment, as you would expect on derby day. Young turns on halfway, but going long towards Welbeck. He keeps the ball in play, but has to run past it and that allows Clichy to gather. United soon have the ball back.

Silva takes this time. He floats the ball high into the box. He gets too much on the delivery and De Gea can claim with ease. He looks to get Giggs moving, but Clichy sees the ball back to Hart. City's turn to attack again, with Clichy now well forward. His cross is cleared.

Yaya Toure takes the free-kick short. Milner then caught again, this time by Evra. Another free-kick, a little close to the box this time. Chance to test De Gea and the United defence from a set-piece wide on the City right.

Milner chasing a hopeful lump over the top, but United see the ball back to De Gea. They then look to spring forward, but Kompany blocks their path. Giggs concedes another free-kick as he bundles through the back of Milner.

Van Persie caught by Kompany, but stays on his feet. United go wide to Welbeck, who pops up on the right this time. Nasri comes across to meet him and blocks a cross behind for a corner. Giggs' delivery is nodded clear by Nastasic.

Giggs fires long towards Rooney, who controls on his chest. He is able to send the ball wide towards Van Persie. He works the ball onto his left foot, but fires across Hart from 12 yards out and past the post.

City looking to close the ball down from the front. The approach works as United have to go long and the ball runs harmlessly through to Hart. City can't pose a threat, with Nasri losing possession.

Van Persie bundled over on the edge of the box, but nothing given. City knocking the ball around nicely. United sitting off. Evra then intercepts a cross-field pass, but can't chase the ball down before it runs out for a throw.

Clichy with a bright burst forward from full-back. He has space to move into and gets to the edge of the box. He then suffers a rush of blood and skews a poor effort badly off target. Tevez glares at him.

Time for Hart to come and gather a loose ball. He looks to calm things down before clearing. Barry moves through midfield, before City go sideways and backwards. United regroup and get everyone behind the ball.

Silva swings over the set-piece, which Ferdinand nods clear unchallenged. Welbeck charges forward on the counter, but lacks support and ends up with the ball caught under his feet. City come again and De Gea has to parry away a low cross from Milner. End-to-end stuff.

Straight up the other end, with Nasri pushing well forward down the City left. He cuts the ball back towards the penalty spot, but Tevez is beaten to it. Milner tries from the right, and wins the first corner of the game.

Giggs trips Tevez in the middle of the park. Tevez dropping very deep to get involved, not where City need him to be getting on the ball. United soon have it back. Young delivers from the left and Welbeck glances into the arms of Hart.

Great noise greets the start of the game. United win a couple of early throws down their right. Giggs then sprays the ball wide to Evra. Milner sticks with him and City can clear.

This game still means everything to Holly Savage. She says: "I don't know why I'm feeling so nervous about this derby when even if we win it means nothing than to close the gap on United. Good line up but a little gutted about Aguero being on the bench, Tevez and Aguero work wonders when playing together! James Hutton another backing Hernandez to be among the goals tonight - a popular call. He says: "Going for a 4-1 United win this evening, City are on form but United always get the job done. Rooney to open the scoring with Hernandez helping us with a hat-trick. Dzeko to get City's goal."

As a neutral I'm hoping all these predictions of goals galore prove to be correct. Have to admit that I see both sides going for it and, with the attacking firepower that will be on show, we really should get plenty of action in the final third. Fingers crossed!

Marc Jones also backing a home win, and plenty of goals. He says: "I'm going for a 3-1 United win with Rooney 2 and RVP - let's hope that ghost won't be flying over the theatre of dreams tonight, come on Unitedddddd."

Scott James thinks United will come out on top. He says: "I'm going for 2-1 United. Rooney to score first, then Tevez will equalise and then Chicha will come off bench and score!"

Ryan Sheppard is expecting goals and a red card this evening. He says: "I think that this game will go United's way tonight. City will lose the game 3-1 with ten men even though if they score first. I predict Joe Hart to get sent off and RVP to score a hat trick! Glory Glory Man United!"

Stu Sharp thinks the hosts will come out on top, and is backing their Dutch striker to get back among the goals. He says: "Huge game tonight, United got to be favs for double over City, Rooney and RVP both to score just like the game at Etihad 2-0."

Rob Chandler is another looking for an away win. He says: "As a huge City fan I can't wait for this game, feel its going to be a corker and Mancini I think will want to go all guns blazing. Hopefully lots of goals but I think the key men tonight for City will be Kompany and Zabaleta. 1-2 City."

Baz Stephenson is looking for the Blues to do the business tonight. He says: "As a big blue I'm hoping Mancini puts out a strong side in order for bragging rights. Losing the title to United is tough but a nice thrashing of United and an FA cup would suit me just fine."

You can bet in-play throughout the game this evening at Skybet.com. United starts as favourites at 6/4, with City 15/8 and the draw 12/5. We goals already being tipped, you can get 7/4 on there being over 3.5 goals. Wayne Rooney has been boosted to 11/2 for the opening goal.

Andrew Pirie sees things slightly differently. He says: "I think it is going to be City to take the first scalp and then United to come back and win."

Timal is another going for four goals, but in a City win. He says:"I think City will close the gap today. But surely Utd will be the Champions at the end of the season. I think City will win 3-1. RVP for Utd & for City brace from Aguero & Tevez & Silva will score one each."

We're up and running, with Martin Bailey the first to get in touch - and he is tipping another entertaining encounter. He says: "I think tonight will be a close game - saying 2-2. City will start with Aguero and Dzeko in my opinion along with Silva and Milner. I hope Sir Alex goes into this game with an attacking purpose - Valencia, Young, Kagawa and both Rooney and RVP. I hope united win as I'm a big red but gut instinct is saying score draw."

Can United edge a step closer to the title? Can City close the gap slightly? Will we get another feast of goals? Will we get any goals? Who will be the men to keep an eye on? Let me know your thoughts.

Do not pay too much attention to those suggesting that tonight's derby has lost some of its edge given the league standings - both teams will be desperate to win and recent clashes have provided plenty of goals, talking points and entertainment. Here's to more of the same this evening.

United edged a 3-2 thriller at the Etihad back in December, but will need no reminding that they were hammered 6-1 the last time these two old adversaries locked horns at Old Trafford.

Halting that run is the task facing defending champions City, as they attempt to put a dent in United's title charge and secure the final round of local bragging rights for 2012/13.

United head into the game 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and fast closing in on the title. They have won their last seven in the league, keeping six successive clean sheets.

Welcome to Old Trafford for our coverage of tonight's Manchester derby between United and City.
