FT: Newcastle 1 Anzhi 0 (Agg: 1-0)

Full Time. And that's it! What a dramatic finish. Marveaux with the cross from the right wing and Cisse heads the ball back where it came from past Gabulov.

Goal! Papiss Cisse heads in a late winner! The last touch of the game!

Newcastle corner comes to nothing and Anzhi break. They're content to hold it up.

Three minutes of added time.

Newcastle living dangerously there but it looks like we're heading for extra time.

Chance! Boussoufa hits the underside of the bar with the free-kick!

Free-kick to Anzhi in a dangerous position.

Zhirkov booked. High foot.

Haidara crosses for Taylor but the defender cannot get a clean head on it.

Ball comes out to Santon but his shot is blocked.

Marveaux's cross is misjudged by the defence and that's a corner.

Eto'o with a rare break and he tries to beat Elliot at the near post from an acute angle. The keeper is up to the challenge.

Still Newcastle press. Tiote's effort is blocked. They are struggling for ideas here.

Tiote with a silly foul to relieve the pressure. Eto'o wants a card presumably on the basis that it wasn't the first of the night from the Magpies midfielder.

One-way traffic but still no easy opportunities for Newcastle. Anzhi making it difficult.

Tiote with a left-footed effort from distance that goes just over the bar.

Delay as Joao Carlos is treated.

Shatov replaces Diarra.

Marveaux turns away from trouble but then blazes over the bar.

Haidara cuts inside well after receiving a good pass from Marveaux but sees his shot blocked.

It's all Newcastle but whether they have the creativity to score is another matter.

Campbell on for Anita.

Another cross from Marveaux that Gutierrez heads at goal but this time there is a foul given.

Delay as Zhirkov falls awkwardly.

Marveaux crosses for Ciss who heads at goal but is ruled offside. It was a brilliant save from Gabulov who wasn't to know.

Newcastle engineer space cleverly down the right but Santon sees his cross blocked.

Sissoko robs Diarra to the delight of the crowd but a patient build-up comes to nothing.

Santon with a dangerous low cross from the right but Gabulov is down well to smother the ball.

Newcastle still struggling to force a breakthrough despite the advantage.

Santon dispossessed allowing Zhirkov to break but Taylor comes up with a key challenge on Eto'o.

Tiote with the foul. Allows the visitors to regroup.

At the other end Eto'o brings the ball down well unchallenged from a long ball but then fires over the bar. He cannot be afforded that kind of space.

Anita lofts a ball over the top for Cisse who brings the ball down well but is crowded out.

Anita booked. Bad challenge. Could even have been a red card because he's left the studs on the ankle there. That's the last thing Newcastle need to do surely.

What an opportunity now for Newcastle.

Carcela-Gonzalez is off! Unnecessary challenge on Haidara. He was sucked in by a poor pass to the left-back but when he charged in the ball was nicked away. Perhaps a little harsh but foolish stuff from the Anzhi man.

Diarra with a driving run but there is Yanga-Mbiwa. Good tackle.

Chance! Marveaux swings in the ball and Cisse gets his effort all wrong. But the ball falls nicely for Taylor six yards out. He just has to tuck it away but can only find Gabulov instead.

Handball given on the right flank and there are cheers from the home crowd as the referee tumbles while awarding the free-kick.

This is much more positive from Newcastle.

Chance! Sissoko wastes another headed chance. Good diagonal ball from Tiote that is well controlled by Marveaux and his cross finds Sissoko but he can get no real contact on it.

Carcela-Gonzalez is booked for a cynical foul.

Chance! Sissoko has an opening but completely messes up his kick. When the ball comes out to Santon he swings in a cross and Sissoko heads over.

Newcastle kick-off and the second half is underway.

Half Time. Still no goals in this tie. Anzhi having the better of it and the threat of the away goal looms for Newcastle. They'll need to improve.

Taylor gets on the end of the free-kick but heads over. Half a chance.

Foul on Santon. Chance to put the ball in the box.

Marveaux with a darting run trying to beat three men. He gets past two but the tackle comes in near the byline.

Better spell of possession from the Magpies without looking too threatening.

Newcastle just keep giving the ball away in their own half. Anzhi dominating but can't pick the lock. Now Eto'o overhits a pass when well-placed 20 yards out.

Chance! Yanga-Mbiwa with a ridiculous ball out from the back from a free-kick. Eto'o sets up Ahmedov but the Anzhi man misses the target at the near post.

Disappointment for Newcastle. The influential Cabaye hobbles off to be replaced by Gutierrez.

Anzhi look to be through on goal as Taylor slips but the referee rules there was a foul.

Santon is fouled allowing Newcastle to swing a ball into the box but Cisse cannot get on the end of it.

Haidara does well down the left but his eventual cross is blocked.

Taylor cleverly ducks the ball after a shout from Elliot and Newcastle can ease the pressure. But the goalkeeper boots the ball upfield for Cisse to chase and possession is lost.

Fouls in quick succession by Cabaye and Tiote. Newcastle midfielders will get punished soon if they keep this up.

Cisse with a foul on Joao Carlos. The striker is feeding off scraps at the moment.

It's taken short and Eto'o nearly plays a killer pass but Elliot is alert.

Taylor gets in the way of another shot. Corner.

Foul by Haidara.

Difficult to know what to make of this Newcastle performance. They've been more than in the game but Anzhi have had the clearer chances. You'd fancy Pardew will be concerned by how open this is looking at times.

Taylor blocks the cross after another dangerous Anzhi break.

Eto'o appears to talk his way out of a booking for a poor challenge. Crowd unimpressed.

Outrageous effort from Tiote. Must have been nearly 40 yards out. High over the bar.

Haidara chips a ball into the box but Gabulov claims.

Joao Carlos nearly stretches to get his head to a free-kick from the right but can only head out of play.

End-to-end stuff as Elliot claims a cross now and springs another Newcastle attack.

Cabaye with an ambitious shot from distance that Gabulov takes.

Chance! Cross loops in and lands at the feet of Ahmedov but is cleared. Then Newcastle give the ball away on the edge of their own area when Elliot rolls the ball out to Tiote but Diarra's shot is blocked.

Corner to Anzhi.

Eto'o plays a superb one-two to get away down the right and the cross almost falls kindly to Diarra but Taylor is eventually able to clear.

Sissoko spreads the play left to Haidara but the cross only finds Gabulov.

Carcela-Gonzalez with an effort but it doesn't trouble Elliot.

Newcastle starting to take control of the game now. Anzhi playing cautiously.

Cisse fouled on the halfway line and Anzhi retreat.

Neat trickery from Marveaux on the right beats his man and then a powerful left-foot shot fizzes past the near post.

Good closing down from Cabaye draws cheers from the crowd.

Cisse away down the right but when he puts the cross in there is nobody in the centre.

Bitty start.

Good possession now from the home side but Haidara's pass is lax and allows Diarra to plough forwards. The midfielder misplaces his pass to return to favour.

Newcastle haven't really got started yet. Anzhi looking comfortable on the ball.

Chance! Eschenko strolls past several Newcastle defenders and threads a pass through to Eto'o but the star man drags his low shot wide of the far post.

Marveaux with a run forward that lifts the crowd. They're ready to get in support of their team tonight. But Cisse cannot retrieve the pass.

The free-kick comes to nothing though as the ball runs through to Elliot.

Early foul by Anita breaks up the play.

Anzhi kick-off and we are underway.

Thanks for all your messages. The players are out on the field at St James' Park. We'll be underway shortly.

Jack: "Newcastle played well away in the first leg and should get an easy victory tonight in front of the home fans!! Big game ahead!"

Alan is watching another game in Bordeaux but he's been in touch. "I'm emailing from Bordeaux before we kick off here against Benfica and just some words of support for NUFC back home," he says. "Think they'll go through as Eto'o was silenced two weeks ago. It might take extra time with Cabaye the match winner. Newcastle having a great run in the EL, don't know what Rifat is on about! Hoping for a home win for Les Girondins too!"

Jack: "Newcastle to win 2-0. Cabaye and big Steven Taylor with the goals!"

Messages from all over the world tonight. Lee is in Monaco but he's not too optimistic. He says: "Although I am a Toon fan I think Anita and Elliot are the two weak links tonight resulting in another miserable night for NUFC fans... Newcastle 1-4 Anzhi."

No Willian for Anzhi this evening but, with Samuel Eto'o in attack, Newcastle must be wary. There can't have been many better strikers in the world game over the past decade than Eto'o, a three-time Champions League winner.

Robert: "I'm going 2-0 to the Toon. Sissoko and Cisse to score."

Alan Pardew might not know whether to stick or twist tonight. He'll be desperate not to concede an away goal but knows his team must win. It would be a good night for Papiss Cisse to bring his best game. With Cabaye loading the bullets you'd think he'll have chances tonight.

Dave in Ontario: "I cannot bet against the Toon; 2-1 for the lads!"

David says: "Seattle calling - Toon to go through 2-0. Howay the lads."

Rifat sees it differently. He says: "Anzhi will win this comfortably in my opinion with the like E'too and Diarra. Hoping for a cracking game tonight. Just hope Anzhi qualify because they have a better chance of winning the competition than Newcastle who are having a miserable season...3-0 to Anzhi."

"Billy here. Avid toon fan. Newcastle have looked impressive coming off of three straight home wins. Toon to progress, 1-0 the score. Marveaux to pull all the strings along with Cabaye. Howay the Lads!"

"Kev here in New Jersey, USA .. 3-0 Toon win."

Lindsay: "I cannot see Newcastle keeping a clean sheet tonight against Anzhi who have looked a pretty good team in their other European games I will go for a 0-2 result and have backed my opinion already."

Jossiah: "Cabaye is almost unplayable since his return from injury. Newcastle should progress tonight, 2-1 is my prediction."

Ivo: "I think Newcastle will win this leg 2-0, all set for us to be the last Premier League team in Europe! Come on Newcastle!"

Newcastle: Elliot, Santon, S. Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Anita, Tiote, Cabaye, Marveaux, Cisse, Sissoko.

Anzhi: Gabulov, Eschenko, Joao Carlos, Ewerton, Zhirkov, Jucilei, Diarra, Ahmedov, Gonzalez, Boussoufa, Eto'o.

The teams are in and will be up shortly.

Any predictions ahead of the game? Let me know by email at adam.bate@bskyb.com or on Twitter @GhostGoal.

Our friends at Sky Bet make Newcastle 5/4 favourites to win this one. Anzhi are 11/5 underdogs and the draw is at 23/10.

But Anzhi will be well aware that an away goal tonight could prove crucial. It all makes for an intriguing contest.

The scores are level after a goalless draw in Russia in the first leg. The Magpies were happy enough with that result as they know a win this evening will see them through to the quarter-finals.
