Penalty as Tiote dives in on Walters, easy decision - needless challenge.

Nasty looking challenge from Cisse on Cameron - free-kick but no card. Very lucky for the Newcastle man.

Really good chance for Shotton as he breaks into the box, Crouch and Jerome wait for the ball but he finds Taylor with his cross.

All Newcastle at the moment.

Good ball into the box from Gutierrez and Shawcross gets to ball ahead of Cisse to head away. Ball comes for Santon but his shot is charged down.

Surging run from Sissoko, he feeds Gouffran down the left but his cross deflects behind for a corner. It is taken short, but it is not good and Stoke clear.

Sissoko latches onto ball from Tiote, Begovic comes to the edge of the box and he puts off the Newcastle midfielder who can only lift it wide of the goal - that was a real chance.

Yanga-Mbiwa concedes corner as Jerome breaks into the box. Gouffran clears Whelan's set-piece.

Good defending from Debuchy as Crouch looked to chest the ball down in the box and volley an effort at goal - but the Frenchman got in well to clear.

Cabaye tries an early shot from long-range but again that is off target.

Stoke City re-start the game, neither side has made a change at the break.

Whistle goes for half-time and it is goalless with very little to write home about in terms of chances.

Long throw from Shotton is headed clear by Yanga-Mbiwa - ball comes back for Cameron and he curls it in towards Jerome, but he can't make a good connection.

One minute of added time.

Cabaye takes it deep but whistle goes for foul by Sissoko on Crouch.

Santon feeds Cabaye, he fires it from 25-yards but it deflects wide off Cameron. Another corner. It is delayed as Cabaye wanted to take short to Gutierrez but Walters was too close.

Good play from Gutierrez and he wins free-kick off Cameron. Out wide by Cabaye will swing this into the box, but once again Begovic takes.

Good play from Nzonzi - but he tries too much and Tiote is in well to win it, Gouffran is almost clear but Shawcross is there to clear into touch.

Really good chance for Gouffran - ball from Cabaye is not dealt with by Stoke defence but the former Bordeaux man can only help it over the bar from six-yards - should have hit the target.

Stray shot from Walters is kept in by Shotton, he crosses into the six-yard box but Elliot takes well and releases Debuchy for counter-attack. He is quickly into the Stoke half and gets his own cross in but Marc Wilson heads clear.

Santon gets forward for the first time today and he goes for goal, not a bad effort but straight at Begovic.

Jerome looks to break into the box, but Yanga-Mbiwa does well to snub out the move.

Good play from Tiote as he hassles Whelan and wins possession - he looks for Cisse at back post who misses the ball and gets clattered by Begovic for his troubles. Was also offside.

Nice ball from Cameron plays in Shotton, he goes past Santon and is brought down - nothing given, very fortunate for the Italian, could have been a penalty.

Good defending from Cameron as Cisse is almost clean through after one-two with Cisse but the American got-back and used his strength to disposes the Newcastle front-man.

Crouch looks to take ball down on the edge of the box, but he uses his arm and free-kick is given. Fortunate not to be booked as it looked deliberate.

Another good run from Debuchy down the right, despite pressure from Jerome he gets cross in which is sent behind. Another Cabaye corner comes in, but Stoke clear their lines.

Excellent counter attack by Stoke as Walters breaks clear - ball from Whelan is just too strong but flag is raised - he looked onside.

More good work from Gouffran and another corner is won. Taylor looks to connect to Cabaye corner but he just can't get the connection.

Another corner for Newcastle as Gouffran charges into the box and Shawcross gets his foot in. Cabaye takes short to Tiote and gets it back, he puts it in to the box - Stoke clear but only as far as Gutierrez, who comes back on his right foot before curling shot wide of the post - decent try.

Better from Stoke. Steven Nzonzi and Jon Walters combine to play in Shotton - but his ball into the box is poor, straight at Elliot.

Geoff Cameron comes forward on the right, he puts cross into the box which Tiote can only divert behind. Whelan takes but Sissoko clears ahead of Crouch.

A decent effort comes in from Cabaye, unchallenged he unleashes one from 25-yards but it flashes across goal and wide.

Debuchy getting down the right well, he finds Gouffran in the box but he fires straight at Begovic when he perhaps should have looked for better options elsewhere.

Newcastle getting on the ball now and playing some nice stuff with Jonas Gutierrez and Davide Santon linking up. Papiss Cisse picks it up and drives for goal, he unleashes one from all of 30-yards but that is way over the bar.

Whelan takes, it comes for Shotton - who tries to lob Elliot from the edge of the box but that is easy for the Newcastle keeper.

Long throw into the Newcastle box by Shotton, and Cheick Tiote heads behind for a corner.

Another Stoke free-kick. Glen Whelan delivers but Elliot comes and takes. He looks to be caught by stray arm from Crouch, but nothing serious and he plays on.

Free-kick out wide for Newcastle - Cabaye over it again, he delivers into the box towards the back post but that is comfortable for Asmir Begovic.

Cabaye takes but Crouch clears behind. It comes in again from Cabaye - this time Shawcross heads away.

Nice play from Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Debuchy, the full-back gets to the by-line and wins a corner with Shawcross putting it behind.

Elliot has to be quick to clear as Taylor back pass is almost too short, but Crouch just can't get there.

Ball comes from Ryan Shotton but it is easily cleared, Peter Crouch then takes ball from Ryan Shawcross on edge of box before firing straight at Rob Elliot - not a bad attempt.

Stoke get on the ball early on and Yohan Cabaye concedes a free-kick with foul on Cameron Jerome - about 30-yards out on the left. Chance to put this into the box.

Newcastle get us underway kicking from right to left.

Teams are on their way out here, not long now on a freezing day in the North East.

And staying abroad, Stoke fan Edd Irwin in South Africa: "I would rather see Jones starting today and giving Walters a rest as he hasn't been playing to form in my eyes.Stoke will have a hard game today but I'm going for a 1-1 draw and a win will be a bonus."

Plenty of your thoughts coming in - many thanks as always. Most of you thinking a home win. Like Alistair Johnson in Colorado, he mailed in: "Disappointed to see that Ben Arfa is not selected. Going to for a Toon win, hopefully Cisse has his scoring boots on!"
