Thanks for joining me this evening. Not the night Tottenham would have been hoping for, but they've given themselves a much better chance of progressing by fighting back from two goals down.
But there is no time for the visitors to take advantage of that. Full time at White Hart Lane and it's all square. 2-2.
A few more minutes than planned because of that then, and Basel have two extra players on the field.
He is going to need to be stretchered off. I imagine every Spurs fan is on their knees at this moment praying he makes a speedy recovery.
Probably not the most enjoyable game for Spurs fans, but it may have just got a lot worse as Bale drops to the floor clutching his right ankle. He is in agony.
Into the first of three stoppage time minutes at the end of this match.
Naughton hits a long ball forward, but Sigurdsson can't reach it before it drifts out of play.
Gallas has to hobble off and with all three subs used, Spurs will have to conclude the game with ten men.
Possession in Basel's hands, to the frustration of the Spurs fans.
Basel look the most likely to add a fifth goal to the game, as they continue to press in the final minutes. Can't imagine there being much time added on at the end.
Salah, the arguable player of the match, is replaced by Degen, the twin brother of the former Liverpool player.
El-Nenny blazes over after the Spurs defence do well to prevent Stocker getting his shot away following some good touches inside the box.
Basel back forward again. Salah and El-Nenny combine but the former's shot is weakly hit and an easy pick-up for Friedel.
Bale's long throw causes problems and it is Basel's turn now to deal with pressure at their end.
Dempsey is unlucky not to win a corner, Spurs will have to settle for a throw in an advanced position on the left wing.
It is all Basel at the moment, as Spurs desperately scrap clear Steinhofer's well delivered free-kick.
Great chance for Basel to take the lead but Zoua fluffs his lines and should at least be hitting the target from there.
Salah continues to threaten, with his close control frustrating the hosts.
Vertonghen disposseses Salah but the danger is not clear as Basel have a throw on the right.
Spurs can't keep hold of the ball at present and Basle appear to have so much appetite for this tie.
Fozer's long range effort is high, wide, and not-so handsome.
The impressive Streller is replaced by Zoua.
Dembele's pass forward towards Sigurdsson is poor and easily intercepted by Dragovic.
The onus is still on Spurs here. They may have dropped a two-goal lead but Basel will be relatively happy with this score if it ends this way.
Chance of an opening for Basel, but Salah would have been better off playing a through ball along the floor rather than the chip he attempted which was easily cut out by the Spurs defence.
Corner comes to nothing. Cabral replaces Die in a Basel switch.
Stocker's free-kick dips devilishly, but Friedel is aware to tip clear for a corner.
Salah's runs continue to cause problems for Spurs, as Parker is booked for sliding in, leaving a good shooting opportunity for Basel.
That is Holtby's last contribution to the game as he is replaced by Dempsey.
Almost on cue, Holtby goes close but his effort goes narrowly wide of Sommer's right post.
There is a great tempo to the game and you get the feeling we could be in store for a couple more goals yet.
A mistake by Vertonghen allows Salah to break through the Spurs defence but fortunately for the Belgian defender his effort is poor and off target.
Dawson had replaced Ekotto just before the goal.
Sigurdsson cuts inside from the left and unleashes a shot at goal from distance. It does take an important deflection off Schar but it is nevertheless a great hit and Spurs are back level!
GOAL - Sigurdsson equalises!!!
Possession is wasted by Holtby deep inside Basel's half as his turn on the ball goes wrong. Goal kick.
Bale wins and takes a corner. Schar heads clear but Naughton is set up to drive a powerful strike at goal. It's on target but Sommer is able to beat away.
Salah busts forward again and Friedel is forced to come out and put a stop to his run.
Basel work the ball well from the left wing into the middle, but Stocker is closed down well as he released his shot and it is blocked.
Bale's corner is first headed away Streller and then hoofed clear again by the striker when the ball comes back into the danger area.
Spurs have a throw on the left wing, which they convert into a corner.
Good football from Basel and El-Nenny's attempt to square the ball with a low cross is good, but Friedel gets down to smother it.
Bale switches play to Holtby, but the German's cross is over-hit and goes behind for a goal kick.
Dylan writes: "Hi mate. Indeed, tottenham first half performance is absolutely shocking. Gallas isn't good enough. Caulker should come on. I'm def happy with Ade goal and I think lenon should play on the right wing and Mousa should take his normal position center mid to bring the ball through the defense to reach Ade or Bale or else. Got to score two or three more goals which not impossible."
Salah shows brilliant skill as he links up with Streller and tries to advance inside the Spurs box but he is eventually hassled off the ball.
Basel get the second half underway and pump it forward, only to concede a goal kick.
I have been informed that Spurs are playing 'Basel' not 'Basle'. To my knowledge neither is wrong, but to keep everyone happy I will refer to the Swiss side as 'Basel' for the second half!
Neil writes: "Whilst it has been a shocking first half display I believe we can put in a good shift and come out fighting, the first 20 minutes of the second half will be crucial and could possibly decided the tie COYS!"
Charlotte writes: "still believe spurs can come out of this match with a win #COYS"
Gino writes: "Hi, Why or why does AVB keep picking W. Gallas who is way way past his sell by date and the reason why we keep losing so many goals in Europe. While he plays we have Caulker and Dawson on the bench. It doesnt make sense. Luckly we are only 1-2 down half time and hopefully get it right second half."
As you can imagine, the odds have changed considerably on the outcome of this match after that first half. Spurs are now 9/4 to win, as is the draw while Basle have been cut to 11/10. One of the half time priceboosts is a 3-3 draw, priced at 14/1. Visit www.skybet.com to place your in-game bets.
Chris writes: "Tottenham's first half performance was SHOCKING. They need to improve in the second half or this could get embarrassing!"
Few would have predicted that! Spurs have got themselves into serious trouble by going two down, and although they pulled one back before the break, they have it all to do. Can they come back with enough goals in the second half to minimise the impact of Basle's away goals? Email firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet @obell1990 to let me know your thoughts.
That's the end of the first half.
Dembele does really well to beat a couple of Basle defenders but has other options before his awkward shot is stopped comfortably by Sommer.
It is not Parker's evening I'm afraid. Spurs counter with pace but it is all ended by the midfielder's poor attempt to release Adebayor on his left.
Salah does well to get a shot off when surrounded by white shirts, and his effort is powerful but Freidel is well placed to hold.
Parker shockingly misses an open goal as Spurs should be level. Sigurdsson plays through Holtby with an excellent pass. Sommer comes out to block Holtby's attempt and the ball goes loose to Parker who unbelievably hits wide.
A bit of a scrappy one but Spurs won't care. A sequence of delections inside the box play their part but it is a decent finish from Adebayor.
GOAL - Adebayor pulls one back for the hosts!!!
Bale chips the ball in nicely for Parker, who tries to head the ball back but nobody is there.
Die closes down Bale to deflect his cross which Sommer is able to grasp to prevent a corner.
Should be 3-0 as Stocker is allowed to skip past the home defence before the chipping the ball wide. Someone needs to have a word with Spurs here.
Spurs try to respond but Holtby's cross is poor and Sommer gathers.
Poor defending from Spurs as Vertonghen flicks the corner into the centre of the box, and Frei loses his marker to head into the bottom right corner. Disaster for the hosts who have it all to do now.
GOAL - 2-0 to Basle!!! Frei the goalscorer!
Basle have a spring in their step now as they win a corner on the right.
Basle take the lead after a nice little move. A bit of fortune in the build up as the ball comes back to Stocker after a misplaced pass, but Basle take full advantage as the eventual goalscorer plays to Salah, who centres it for Streller. Streller turns and shoots to hit the post when he perhaps should have scored but Stocker is there to hit home. Tottenham in trouble now! 0-1.
GOAL - Stocker scores for Basle!!!
Bale heads the initial delivery clear and when the ball is worked forward again to Schar on the right, his cross goes out for goal kick.
Gallas is booked for a needless foul on Streller, gifting Basle a good crossing opportunity.
Schar goes for goal from distance with the free-kick but it doesn't harm the target.
The delivery is poor and Basle counter to win a free-kick inside the Spurs half.
A Spurs is corner is headed out only as far as Naughton who tries his luck from distance and goes extremely close. Must have taken a slight deflection as another corner is to follow.
Streller and Salah combine for the visitors in an advanced position but nothing comes of it and Spurs are able to regain possession.
Lennon is forced to come off, he is replaced by Sigurdsson.
Basle come forward on the break, but Streller is penalised for a nudge on Gallas.
Ekotto chips the ball forward for Holtby, but the winger can't control it and it goes out for a goal kick.
Plenty of possession for Spurs in the Basle half. Bale feels he should have a free-kick in what would be an ideal situation but the referee let the play go on which didn't really benefit the hosts.
Nice move from Spurs as Ekotto, Adebayor and Holtby combine to tee up Bale for a strike at goal but he fires it wide.
Throw in now on the left wing for Spurs.
Bale doesn't really connect well with the free-kick. It takes a deflection before finding its way into the hand of Sommer.
Free-kick just outside the box for Spurs as Dembele uses his skill to trick Steinhofer and draw the foul. Bale will fancy this but it is a bit close to get it up and over.
Holtby is unlucky as he tries to chase the ball down on the left wing, but can't quite keep it in play.
Holtby is gifted the ball on the left edge of the Basle box, but ends up running back to the halfway line and passing back to Friedel after struggling to pick a pass.
Friedel gets away with a poor attempt to lift the ball back to Vertonghen as Streller gets his head to it, but it runs loose to the defender in the end.
Basle have another two shots on goal with Streller's side-footed effort saved by Friedel, before another effort from the visitors goes over. That has shook up the favourites a bit.
First chance on goal goes Basle's way but Friedel saves from Schar's shot inside the box. Gallas eventually manages to get the ball clear.
A very poor pass from Parker leads to a throw in for Basle inside the hosts' half.
Some good pressure by Adebayor forces Steinhofer to concede a throw in an advanced position on the right for Spurs. The home side lose the ball on the edge of the box though.
Bale gets his first chance to stretch his legs as he knocks the ball past Schar but he can't quite reach it and the Basle defence clear.
Looking quite likely that he will be replaced by Caulker. We'll have to wait and see on that one. Play resumes.
Spurs enjoy their first spell of sustained possession but have some worries now with Gallas on the deck in pain.
Ekotto has to race back with Salah to ensure the ball travels out for a goal kick.
Ekotto crosses from the left but Dragovic clears unchallenged.
Spurs kick us off.
Rafee writes: ""With Bale in great form Spurs have a great chance tonight but don't forget Basel they are good team as well and they will give a good game to Spurs surely but Spurs have just too much quality...3-0 to Spurs & of course Bale to get a couple"
David writes: "Watching live here in israel. A bit worried about the degfensive formation, excepting vertinghen, gallas too slow and the two full backs prone to making stupid mistakes. But if we take the game to them, we should force it tonight with a 3 goal victory. Holtby to score his first for tottenham and adebayor to come good"
Both teams coming out the tunnel now in their familiar colours. Kick-off is imminent.
Conor 'Bassline Junkie' writes: "Spurs win 3-1, Bale getting a brace, with Adebayor grabbing one as well."
Jack writes: "I think keeping the clean sheet is almost as important as scoring tonight. Going for 1-0 to Tottenham, Holtby or Bale. #COYS"

'Chelsea News' unsurprisingly writes: "Spurs to lose tonight! Reckon it will be a hard game for them; Spurs 1 - 3 Basel"
Adam writes: "Tottenham should learn from their Inter fiasco and force the game tonight, I see goals but one for Basel: 4-1 please #COYS"
Tonight's referee is the Serbian Milorad Mazic.

Will writes: "i reckon a spurs 3-0 win tonight and a bale hat trick :-) COYS"
I think Spurs will win this game but can also see Basle nicking a goal. 3-1 is my tip, which is available at 11/1. You can increase that to 28/1 if you back Bale to net the first goal of the game as well. That has also been enhanced by Sky Bet prior to kick off.
As expected, Spurs are well fancied for this one and are priced at 4/9. Basle are the 13/2 outsiders while the draw is available at 100/30. Priceboosts include Tottenham to win 3-0 (10/1) and Alexander Frei to score first and the game to be drawn 1-1 (70/1).
Ronen writes: "I reckon spurs will win they are doing well in the europa league and are looking for a trophy"

AVFC-49ERS writes: "Tottenham should cruise at home but Basel do have a goal in them 3-1 to #thfc but Basel to lead"
Marwar writes: "I hope Basel make the spuds run all night long and make them so tired that they loose at the weekend so we (arsenal) can leap frog them for forth!!!!!"
Sammy writes: "Even though defoe is out, I think spurs have too much quality when attacking and they will win 4-0 bale 2 lennon 1 and vertonghen 1"
Spurs obviously without Defoe tonight due to a muscle injury, but otherwise you would expect a strong team to be put out by Andre Villas-Boas. Clear favourites but we shouldn't forget that Basle have impressed against the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent years. Hopefully a good game in store for us tonight.
Good evening and welcome to White Hart Lane for tonight's coverage of the Europa League Quarter-Final First Leg between Tottenham and Basle. Oliver Bell here to describe the action for you. Kick-off is at 2005 GMT.
