And thats it! FT: Northern Ireland 1 Russia 0. Michael O'Neill nets his first win as Northern Ireland boss by surprising Russia. Martin Paterson's expertly taken goal was enough to net the three points.

Only seconds left now...

Russians aren't really threatening here. Northern Ireland still holding on.

Four minutes of added time...

The crowd are going wild here as the Russians suffer. Roy Carroll down at the moment.

Once again Daniel Lafferty with great defensive work. He has cut out absolutely everything tonight.

The goalscorer Martin Paterson goes off to a rapturous reception. Will Grigg comes on.

Evans comes on for McGinn, who leaves the pitch to a fully deserved standing ovation.

Shirokov has been well below-par this evening, and that effort sums it up, skying his attempted strike.

McGinn has been superb down the wing, and centres another cross, which Akinfeev just cuts out.

Great chance for the Russians. Kombarov is in acres of space after being played in, but rather than cutting the ball across, he chooses to go alone and is dispossessed.

Crowd cheer as yet another Russian attack comes to nothing. Some really wayward passing all night from the Eastern Europeans.

Paterson gets up to challenge Akinfeev, who drops it, but the referee blows for a foul. Paterson booked for reaction.

Bystrov fouls Lafferty chasing a loose ball, and concedes the free-kick. Really looking exasperated.

Gareth McAuley looks like he a problem, and is receiving treatment.

Dzyuba getting frustrated up front, as all he is being provided with is long balls. Need to get the ball down on the deck.

Corner to Northern Ireland, which Norwood whips in, but it is cleared. He has another chance to cross, but that is also headed out.

Once again it is scrambled away tries to make space for a shot. Really is all hands to the pump from the home side.

Another corner for the visitors, but the referee blows for a foul, as Windsor Park breathes another sigh of relief.

From the resulting free-kick the ball rebounds several times, and Roy Carroll is alert to dive on the loose ball.

Daniel Lafferty is booked for a petulant kick. Could have been much worse.

GOAL RULED OUT! Martin Paterson's header is ruled out for offside. Very tight decison. Great work from McAuley to head back across goal.

Anyukov wastes a great chance to get the ball into the dangerzone, but once again he cannot beat the first man.

The men in Green chasing everything down. Be surprised if they can keep this energy up for the entire match.

The ball falls to Kombarov is a good position, on the volley, but he blazes over, much to the relief of the home support.

Samedov is the third and final change, replacing Cheryshev.

Shirokov took his time to take it, but his placed strike is tame, but catches a Northern Irish leg and goes out for a corner.

Free-kick in a dangerous position for Russia. Good job Kerzhakov is off the pitch, he would be fancying this.

Cheryshev seems to have injected abit of urgency to the Russian side. He almost dances his way all the way through but is finally dispossessed.

And we are underway for the second-half.

Artem Dzubya also comes on for Kerzhakov

Real Madrid's Cheryshev replaces Dzagoev for the Russians.

HT: Northern Ireland 1 Russia 0. Martin Paterson's wonderful header separates the sides at the break. Thoroughly deserved on the whole, with Jamie Ward hitting the post.

Thoroughly deserved goal has really raised the noise at Windsor Park. Really was a great goal.

Wonderful goal from Northern Ireland. Niall McGinn whips in a sublime cross on the half-volley, which Paterson rises to head home.

GOAL! Northern Ireland 1 Russia 0. Martin Paterson 43.

Best chance by far, and would have been no more than the home side deserved.

OFF THE POST! Quickly taken free-kick puts Jamie Ward in space, who unleashes a ferocious effort, which cannons back off the post, and Martin Paterson can't get on the end of the rebound.

"It's just like watching Brazil" sound the Green and White army. Certainly more than holding their own.

Steve Davis tries an intricate reverse pass, which almost comes off, but Jamie Ward can't quite latch onto it.

Some real desperate defending from Michael O'Neill#s men just about keeps the game scoreless. Great play from Bystrov again.

Jamie Ward does really well to get to the byline, which is slightly too long, but reaches McGinn, who takes it on the up and fires well over.

Best opening for the Russians. Kerzhakov latches onto a clever pass, but his shot is partially blocked, with the ball looping just wide, with Carroll backpedaling.

Fayzulin does well to stay on his feet, when many would have gone down under challenge from Norwood. Cross comes back in but nobody can get on the end of it.

Kerzhakov does hold the ball up well, looking for Bystrov, but Lafferty is in very strongly, letting the playmaker know he is there.

Kerzhakov really feeding off scraps. Winning headers but has no support from midfield.

2 wins in the last 33 games for the Northern Irish isn't very impressive, but if they carry on as they are, a surprise could be on the cards.

Russians looking a little ragged. Some wayward passing at the moment from the visitors.

McGinn is found wide by Davis, but his cross fails to beat the first man. Northern Ireland really looking in command.

Dzagoev is found in space out wide, but once again it is that man McAuley who cuts it out.

Shirokov and Bystrov play a neat one-two and almost get in, but the ball is slightly over-hit and it runs out for a goal-kick.

Bystrov again getting forward well, but cannot latch onto a long ball, and it is cut out. Impressive so far from the home side.

McGinn looking dangerous again, dribbling his way into the box, but cannot make space for a shot.

The Russians are appealing for handball by Roy Carroll, who raced off his line to cut out a through ball, but replays show he used his chest as momentum carried him out of the box.

The Russians starting to get into this now. Dzagoev is through, but Gareth McAuley comes across to cover brilliantly, just as the forward was about to pull the trigger.

Bystrov does well to get by Lafferty, but his pull back is cleared.

Kerzhakov has Russia's first chance, but his effort is blocked well on the angle by McAuley. Great defending.

More good football from the men in green, Martin Paterson in the thick of it again, but his strike is straight at Akinfeev.

Boos from the home crowd as Martin Paterson goes in with studs showing, wins the ball, is through on goal, but the Norwegian referee halts proceedings.

Another good opening for the Northern Irish. Niall McGinn attempts an audacious volley, which flies just over.

Jamie Ward has a half chance within 30 seconds, but the Derby County man can't get enough on a cross, and it rolls harmlessly to Akinfeev.

We are underway!

It will take four wins and a draw for Northern Ireland's final five games. Tall order?

Fabio Capello's Russia side, who can go top of Group F with victory, included just one player - Dmitry Kombarov - not from either Zenit St Petersburg or CSKA Moscow.

With Kyle Lafferty injured and Chris Brunt suspended, there were recalls for forwards Martin Paterson and Jamie Ward as Northern Ireland look to break a 13-match winless run.

Manchester United's Jonny Evans was a late withdrawal with an upset stomach.

NI team : Carroll, McAuley, Hughes, Cathcart, D.Lafferty,McGinn, Davis (c), Paterson, Ferguson, Norwood, Ward.
