Brilliant late tackle from Cahill as he makes a great challenge on Cardozo, who misses chance to take the match into extra time.

GOAL - BRANISLAV IVANOVIC - The Serb meets Mata's corner and plants a great header into the corner. Stunning goal to win it.

Good work from Ramires, wins a corner. Late chance for Chelsea...

Three minutes of added time here - extra time beckons.

My word what an effort from Lampard, Mata works the ball back to him and he slams it against the bar from 30-yards. So unlucky.

Azpilicueta hits one from the edge of the box but straight at Artur.

Great challenge from Luisao as throws himself in front of Ramires to block his shot. Corner comes in and Cahill flicks it wide.

Great save from Cech, stunning half-volley from Cardozo but the Chelsea keeper is equal to it.

Torres drives forward and has Luisao and Jardel on their heels but instead of going for goal he looks for Ramires, and chance is gone.

Garay off injured and is replaced by Jardel.

Torres turns in the box, he is not happy as he looks for a penalty. Nothing given. Play stopped as Garay is down.

Matic in hard on Ramires - again not a booking.

Torres flicks on looking for Mata but Gaitan does well to cover the run and Artur claims it.

Good defending from Garay as he sees run of Ramires and is over well to cover.

Cole breaks forward, he feeds Oscar - he looks for Ramires at the back post but Artur claims it.

GOAL - OSCAR CARDOZO - He steps up and slams it down the middle.

Penalty as Lima heads on Cardozo's pass, Azpilicueta handles it.

Chelsea free-kick from 30-yards, Luiz drives it wide.

Rodrigo and Melgarejo make way for Ola John and Lima.

Rare from an away side as Salvio launches long throw into the box but Chelsea stand firm and clear.

Mata goes for goal but the wall does its job and makes the block.

Luisao is booked for poor challenge on Torres, but it is on the edge of the box.

GOAL - FERNANDO TORRES - Chelsea counter from Cech throw, Mata flicks it on for Torres, he holds off Luisao and goes past Arthur and finishes with great aplomb.

Gaitan gets deep cross into the box and it comes for Salvio - but his header is saved well by Cech.

Better from Chelsea with Mata and Oscar starting to see more of the ball.

Better from Ramires, he gets forward and crosses into the box for Oscar - corner Chelsea. Mata takes but Luisao rises to head clear.

Nice play from Torres, he looks for run of Ramires but he is just offside - should have held his run.

Luisao fouls Torres. Mata takes, but Benfica clear with relative ease, poor ball in.

Azpilicueta drives down the right, he cross is long though and Oscar fails to control the ball.

Cardozo heads home in-swinging cross from Gaitan - but flag is up quickly. Chelsea on the ropes - have started second-half as poorly as they did the first.

Great play from Azpilicueta to put off Rodrigo after wonderful hold up play by Cardozo in the box.

Rodrigo nods ball down for Gaitan, he goes for the half-volley but it is well wide.

Ramires brings down Melgarejo, but strangely no yellow. Ball comes in and Chelsea just about scramble the ball away.

Salvio goes down under challenge from Cole. Free-kick is worked short by Perez, he finds Salvio - he puts a great cross into the box but Cahill does well to head it away.

Chelsea get us back underway kicking right to left, towards their own fans.

Players back out, neither side has made a change.

Robiul Miah "The game overall is shaky....we r nt doing particularly well torres is doing well up front 2 hold the ball...luiz wid crackin passes...however defense need a wake-up call"

Half-time and Rafa Benitez will be happy to get his team back in without a goal being conceded.

Lampard goes for goal from over 35-yards and he sends it way over the bar.

Garay is booked for dragging down Oscar who almost broke clear. Cynical foul but needed to be done.

Lovely play by Torres holding off the defence, turning and playing in Azpilicueta - but he is offside, he shouldnt of been as he was looking across the line, poor from the full-back.

Benfica corner as Cahill just gets ahead of Cardozo. Taken short, but Chelsea manage to clear - but Benfica are retain the ball and the English side are pinned in their own half.

Azpilicueta is talking to Rafa Benitez and looks to be struggling.

Lampard picks the ball up in the Benfica half for the first time and unleashes one, and Artur only just manages to push that wide.

Good defending from Ivanovic to hold off Cardozo and Cesar Azpilicueta is able to clear.

Gaitan uses the outside of his left foot to go for top corner after good work from Rodrigo and Melgarejo but it is over from the Argentine.

Lovely ball from Luiz to Oscar, he looks to play in Mata but good defending from Garay sees Artur come out and claim the ball.

Cardozo and Garay over it, but it looks like the Paraguayan will strike it - he does but the wall does its job and Frank Lampard sees it safely back to Cech.

Ivanovic brings down Perez - this is about 25-yards out and is really dangerous.

Branislav Ivanovic scrambles it away after good work again from Almeida on the right.

Cardozo sets Almeida down the right again, he crosses to the back post for Gaitan - but instead of going for goal he looks to pull it back and David Luiz is back to help it to Cech.

First effort from Chelsea as Oscar goes for goal from 25-yards but Artur takes it at the second attempt.

Mata again pulling the string, he looks for Ramires but Oscar's touch takes it away from his compatriot and it runs out for a goal-kick.

Torres wins free-kick on the right touchline - chance for Chelsea to put this into the box - Mata takes and Artur acrobatically punches the ball away.

Mata free-kick is curled into the box but Garay rises above Cahill and heads away well.

Nice turn from Oscar and he is hauled down by Almeida. No booking though.

Good hold up play by Fernando Torres as he looks to try and stir Chelsea into action.

More nice work around the box by Benfica, Gaitan looks for Cardozo but Cech does well to claim it.

Bradley ‏@28brad 42m @graemebailey "not a fan of Ramires on the wing - after his stinker at Villa, Moses should be in the starting XI"

Mata looks to play in Oscar on the edge of the box but Garay makes crucial interception for Benfica.

Cardozo looks like he fancies it, it is played shot down the side to Almeida - and he plays it into the six-yard box, Rodrigo has great chance but he slips twice and fails to convert.

Oscar is booked for bringing down Perez about 30-yards from goal.

More excellent football from Benfica, it comes for Salvio - he pulls it back for Nico Gaitan, but he from the edge of the box he fires well over when he should have tested Petr Cech.

Good work from Ezequiel Garay to challenge and dispossess Ramires.

Juan Mata looks to pick run of Oscar but it just is too strong for the Brazilian - almost clean through.

Chelsea players making their way down the line for the pre-match handshake.

Teams in the tunnel now ready...

Shannel Mwakio: I think Torres will shine with the help of Mata even though Cardozo is going to cause problems to Chelsea back four. Final score regular time [90 minutes] Chelsea 3:1 Benfica Mata, Torres and Lampard to score.

‏@ChelseaFCNewz - @GraemeBailey "Expecting a big score line tonight! Chelsea 4 - 2 Benfica!"

Paul Begg: "I am going for a Hazard and Terry-less Chelsea tonight, upset to see those two out of the match but with the midfield of Lampard, Mata, Oscar and Rami - we are far too strong for Benfica. I hope Torres has the game of his life tonight as well."

Plenty of reaction coming in, all seems to be favouring a Chelsea Dave Lepage, he has mailed in: "Brilliant team by benitez, Chelsea to win 3-1."
