Manager Jose Mourinho has omitted the Brazil forward, whose transfer from Anzhi Makhachkala was completed when he was granted a work permit on Wednesday, from his 26-man squad for the match, which is a repeat of the 2012 Champions League final.

David Luiz (hamstring) and Tomas Kalas (leg), who have not played this season due to injury, did travel to the Czech capital, which is where the Blues' Europa League-winning run began in February.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola will be without midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martínez for the Eden Arena clash with Chelsea.

Front trio Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mario Mandzukic all return along with defenders Philipp Lahm and David Alaba following the draw in Freiburg at the start of the week.

And Bastian Schweinsteiger is likely to start for Bayern as well, even though the midfielder is carrying a knock.
