West Ham's record signing is still struggling with an ankle injury although he is getting closer to a return to training, as is defender George McCartney (knee).

Full-back Razvan Rat is in line to make his debut whilst Stewart Downing could make his first start for the club.

Newcastle will be without defender Steven Taylor as he begins a three-match ban following his sending off against Manchester City.

Jonas Gutierrez is also set to miss out after picking up a hamstring problem in the defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

On-loan striker Loic Remy is still sidelined with a calf injury, while Davide Santon remains a major doubt after missing the City defeat with a hip injury.
