Dani Osvaldo: Saints' record signing is expected to make his debut

Italy international Osvaldo became Saints' club-record signing when he joined from Roma earlier in the week

He arrived on a four-year deal for an undisclosed club-record fee, rumoured to be £15million and is expected to make his debut.

Teenage defender Calum Chambers could retain his place with Nathaniel Clyne short of fitness following a pre-season injury.

Sunderland will be without striker Steven Fletcher (ankle) and Lee Cattermole (knee) for the trip to the south coast, but Craig Gardner is back from suspension.

Defender Phil Bardsley (foot) remains on the sidelines for the Black Cats, which means Wes Brown could feature if he recovers from a knee injury.

Paolo Di Canio's side made a poor start to their Premier League season, slumping to a 1-0 defeat against Fulham at the Stadium of Light.

He looks set to keep faith with central defender Valentin Roberge and may hand his latest signing Charis Mavrias a role in the side as he looks to find a winning formula.
