The Latics expect to have Jonson Clarke-Harris and David Mellor available this weekend.

Striker Clarke-Harris has missed the last two games but is on the road to recovery after damaging ankle ligaments in the Capital One Cup defeat to Derby.

Midfielder Mellor was absent last Saturday for Latics' 2-1 loss at Peterborough but is back in training again, leaving full-back Carl Winchester (knee) as the only player on the sidelines.

Forward Jose Baxter should feature despite carrying a minor groin problem, while boss Lee Johnson also confirmed the club have received no bids for last season's top scorer.

The Valiants will have an unchanged squad for the trip North West.

Manager Micky Adams made three changes to his starting line up against Bradford following the defeat at Colchester the previous weekend. Defender Adam Yates, midfielder Kaid Mohamed and striker Lee Hughes were drafted in and Adams could stick with the same XI at Boundary Park on Saturday.

Vale's squad got a little stronger this week when Joe Davis (knee) and Rob Taylor (Achilles) returned to training after injury.

Both players are short of fitness and it will be a few weeks before either are considered for first-team duties.

What Is It That FIFA Actually Do?

That's the question raised timidly by someone sat at the back of the room, whilst others remind that UEFA aren't perfect either. Plus a few more gone on to better XIs...

Time To Step Up, Mr Platini...

UEFA should step up and extend the Euros to replace FIFA's tarnished World Cup, say a couple of mailboxers. Also: all hail Carlo, King of the Kop, and plenty more Budget XIs...
