And that's it. Southampton claim a draw at Old Trafford and it is now more than they deserve. United drop more points at home. 1-1 it finishes.

Both sides really going for this one. Lambert can't hold it up and United come again. Welbeck doesn't control and Southampton clear.

We are in stoppage time. Rafael looks for Giggs but it's cleared.

There could be more for Southampton. Osvaldo with another sighter.

GOAL! Lovren forces home after United can't clear the corner. No more than Southampton deserve.

Smalling does well against Lambert in the air. Southampton claim another corner in the next attack.

Smalling on for Rooney.

Fonte for a foul on Van Persie.

Clyne hammers a strike at goal and De Gea makes a brilliant save. Welbeck dropped off and lost his man momentarily.

Rafael has a sight of goal but that's all it is and his strike doesn't trouble Boruc.

Wanyama off Do Prado on.

Ward-Prowse with a long ball to Osvaldo. He beats Jones in the air for the first time but it goes wide.

Frantic few moments as Welbeck nearly finds himself past the last man, while at the other end Osvaldo can't quite latch on to Lallana's pass.

Clyne wins a corner down the right. Can Southampton make all this pressure count?

Excellent play by Rooney and Giggs is inches away. Nearly an excellent goal. Super play down the left. Van Persie involved as well.

Fellaini off Welbeck on.

Schneiderlin does really well and tricks his way through to the edge of the box. His shot is disappointing though.

Osvaldo thought he had a chance on the edge of the box but his attempt is a soft one.

Lallana maintained his balance well and tests De Gea from 25 yards. Good effort.

Giggs loses out to Shaw and Southampton switch play to Clyne. Away side play some keep ball until Fonte gives it away.

Lovren climbs for the ball on halfway but he used Van Persie and United win a free-kick.

Clyne with a late challenge but the referee decides not to show a yellow card. Januzaj a little quick for him then.

Nani off Giggs on.

Ward-Prowse takes the set piece but Osvaldo gets too much on it. Wide.

Ward-Prowse will come on in place of Davis.

Fellaini is wrong side of Wanyama and fouls the Southampton midfielder. Free-kick.

Lambert thought he might have been shoved in the area but it's good defending by Evans.

Januzaj then then hits one from 25 yards but Boruc does really well. Great game.

CROSSBAR! Rooney's corner is a good one and Van Persie hits the bar with a header.

United have the lead at the break 1-0, but Southampton have really played well. Pretty sure we'll see more goals after the break.

Shaw strikes it but it hits the wall. Fellaini felt that one.

Wanyama wins a free-kick on the edge of the box. Van Persie with the foul.

Fonte knocks a ball in hopefully but United don't deal with it. Lallana is then flagged offside.

Play has restarted and Southampton win a throw. Fortunate to see another angle of Van Persie's goal. The initial ball to Rooney by Januzaj was sublime.

Osvaldo is down after a challenge from Fellaini. No yellow card though.

Nani rather frustratingly for the home fans is then flagged offside.

Schneiderlin for a late challenge on Januzaj.

United try to build another attack but Evra can't reach Van Persie's pass. Unlucky.

Good build up again between Davis and Lallana but Davis' strike is well wide.

Lovren with a cracking strike from 35 yards but De Gea stands firm and claims. Worth a strike.

Osvaldo runs towards the United back four with the ball but he runs out of room and options.

Rafael finds room down the right but Southampton clear this time.

Carrick uses all his experience and wins United a free-kick.

Credit to Southampton though. They are still trying to play their way through United. Long way to go in this one.

Amazing what a goal can do. United looked second best for the opening 25 minutes.

CROSSBAR! Rooney latches on to Nani's ball and fires his shot against the bar.

GOAL! Van Persie slots home after Rooney's initial chance was saved by Boruc. Van Persie made it look easy. 1-0 United.

Wanyama wins the ball from Rooney and when the ball breaks to Osvaldo, De Gea manages to save easily. Great chance.

Offside! Rooney with a beautiful ball through to Van Persie who rounds the 'keeper, but the flag was up.

Southampton fans in good voice this afternoon and they will be encouraged with how their side are playing.

Southampton win another free-kick in a wide area. Lallana delivered but Fellaini heads away.

Evra with a ball in from the left but an excellent block as Van Persie strikes towards goal. Moments later Nani sets Van Persie up but it's straight at Boruc.

Van Persie with a fantastic flick towards goal but it goes a yard or two wide. Good technique from the Dutchman.

Lallana with a corner for Southampton. Rodriguez with the header again but it's easy for De Gea.

The pressure continues. Rodriguez heads wide. Decent chance.

Excellent pressing by Lallana and Evans is forced into conceding a throw.

Nani does really well down the right after an excellent ball by Rooney. Lovren heads away.

United certainly haven't settled yet. Rooney and Van Persie haven't had a kick.

Rafael gallops down the right but he can't find a red shirt and Southampton win a throw.

Jones covers well and forces Rodriguez out of play. Jones looked sharp then. He needed to be.

Januzaj tricks Clyne and Rooney stands over the free-kick. Osvaldo doing a good job in his own area clears the danger though.

Rooney without head gear today. Fellaini in the meantime gives the ball away.

Rafael gets United going with a throw but Schneiderlin wins the ball back and Southampton look confident.

The big news before kick-off was that Adnan Januzaj has penned a new 5-year contract with the Premier League champions. Will he continue his good form?

As we await the pre match handshakes Southampton fans will certainly have made the trip north full of confidence.

United are still a force to be reckoned with and despite coming unstuck against West Brom in their last outing at Old Trafford, they have not suffered successive top flight defeats on home soil since May 2002.
