FT: Tottenham 1 Manchester City 5

The whistle goes and Tottenham are put out of their misery. A 5-1 win for City, who undoubtedly had some luck with the penalty call and the Dawson 'goal' that was ruled out in the first half. But Manuel Pellegrini's men were phenomenal at times and thoroughly deserved the victory.

93
Close to six in the dying moments but Lloris dives low to get a hand to the cross and present Dzeko turning it home.

90
There will be a minimum of three added minutes but this has been over for a while.

89
GOAL! (Kompany) The resulting corner falls to Dzeko, whose shot is blocked but only falls at the feet of Vincent Kompany and he has a simple task to make it five.

88
Naughton with a vital tackle on Navas, who has turned it on in the final few minutes.

87
Fantastic chance for City, Navas bursting free on the right but his square ball to Kolarov isn't good enough. Lloris eventually makes another good save to turn it behind for a corner.

86
It's all gone very quiet at White Hart Lane as Man City are coasting towards another win which will put them top of the pile.

85
Capoue penalised for outmuscling Jovetic in the middle of the park.

84
The last change of the match sees Lewis Holtby coming on for Eriksen.

83
Dzeko skews another shot over the top on his left foot. It's a tough chance, but he hasn't quite looked on top of his game this evening.

82
Dzeko feeds a lovely ball in behind the Spurs defence but Jovetic didn't quite predict it.

81
Jovetic tries to turn provider but his cross towards Navas is cleared by Naughton.

80
A third and final change for Man City as David Silva comes off for Aleksandar Kolarov.

78
GOAL! (Jovetic) A first Premier League goal for Stevan Jovetic. He finds space on the left, cuts inside and fires past Lloris via a slight deflection. That was all a shade too easy but Spurs are clearly deflated.

77
Poor set piece for once in this game as Hart can easily come out and punch clear.

76
Zabaleta booked for kicking the ball away after a foul on Adebayor.

75
Seemingly damage limitation time for Spurs as they are barely trying to close their opponents down now.

73
City really stretching Tottenham, who are already starting to look a tad tired. A long passing move ends with Kompany putting the ball straight out for a throw under very little pressure.

72
Good tackle from Nastasic on Adebayor sets up another City attack but Spurs do well and force them back to the halfway line.

70
City are back in control after a brief Spurs rally. Tottenham struggling to get on the ball currently.

69
Dzeko fails to finish another lovely Man City move. Fernandinho finds Zabaleta with a scooped ball over the top but his cross is awkwardly put wide by the big Bosnian.

68
Kompany clears a low Eriksen cross from the left before Navas switches play nicely and Jovetic can come forward.

67
Here goes Navas again, bombing down the right win. He does well but Demichelis promptly gives the ball back to Spurs.

66
Navas is a serious weapon at the best of times and even more so against 10 men. He sprints into space on the right but Jovetic is then caught offside.

65
Great chance for Dzeko, who volleys wildly over the top with his left foot after a brilliant first touch on his chest.

64
Booking for Naughton after upending Jesus Navas.

64
Another change for City with Yaya Toure coming off for Nastasic.

63
An angry-looking Adebayor is flagged offside and City look to build steadily from the back.

62
Naughton picking up plenty of space on the left but Kompany clears the danger.

61
Fair play to Tottenham, who are coming forward with menace despite having 10 against 11. City will be brutal on the break but they are having a go and the crowd are up for it.

59
GOAL! (Capoue) Eriksen the provider - his corner is bundled in by the Spurs substitute, with Fernandinho trying to punch it clear on the line.

58
Naughton and Bentaleb link up before Lennon wins a corner off Clichy down by the byline.

57
City passing the ball around with lots of time and space. This can only really get worse for the home side.

56
Eriksen fails to find Adebayor, who is looking increasingly frustrated.

54
Sigurdsson replaced by Kyle Naughton following the third goal.

53
GOAL! (Dzeko) It's three and it's Edin Dzeko. Zabaleta cuts back to Silva, whose attempt is saved onto the post by Lloris but the rebound finds its way to Dzeko and he makes no mistake from close range. Harsh on Spurs.

52
Needless to say this will now be extremely tough for Tottenham, who ended the first half in the ascendancy but now find themselves two behind and a man down.

51
That was very much a case of the referee's assistant awarding the penalty and the replays show it looked harsh. The red card was always coming after the penalty was awarded.

50
GOAL! (Toure) Yaya Toure steps up coolly and sends Lloris the wrong way to double City's lead.

49
Danny Rose is shown red for bringing down Dzeko, who was in on the goalkeeper. Another huge call as he got a foot on the ball but it was a tackle from behind.

49
Penalty to Manchester City

48
Good cross from Rose on the left but Eriksen can't quite meet it.

47
Silva has received treatment and is back into the fray. Spurs enjoying plenty of possession early in the second period.

46
We are back under way and Silva is now down clutching his foot after a heavy Capoue tackle. He's lucky to escape a booking for that late challenge.

Capoue has come on for Dembele at half time.

Lee O'Toole: "Dzeko is going to have to put on his scoring boots at half time 3 golden chances and hit them all miles wide and over , if not we will have to see the return of the beast!"

Half time at White Hart Lane and it's Tottenham 0 Man City 1. Sergio Aguero had an incredible first half-hour, hitting the post, scoring and then somehow having a header amazingly saved by Hugo Lloris. But Aguero has gone off injured and Tottenham really came into it before the break and we're left with delicately poised match.

45+1
Demichelis heads over the top from a free kick in the first of three added minutes at the end of the first half.

45
Jovetic straight into the action as Silva tries to create space in the box but the substitute is eventually crowded out.

45
Aguero is indeed now being replaced by Stevan Jovetic.

44
Bad news for Man City now as Aguero has gone down off the ball when sprinting for the ball. It looks a recurrence of his hamstring injury.

42
Tim Sherwood has clearly asked his players to buck up their ideas as Spurs are now giving as good as they're getting. Lennon starting to see more of the ball.

41
Sergio Aguero was also shown a yellow card a moment earlier after complaining about the Demichelis/Adebayor set-to.

40
Wide from Dembele after the subsequent free kick comes back to him on the edge of the area. He failed to get any sort of connection on it.

39
Hard challenge from Demichelis on Adebayor, with the Man City man shown a yellow card. That could easily have gone the other way, with the Spurs man leaving a bit on his opponent.

38
Spurs doing considerably better in the last 10 minutes or so.

37
Aguero on the deck after a heavy challenge from Dawson, but it looks like the striker has possibly made the most of it.

36
Dawson has the ball in the net but it's ruled out for offside. Eriksen sends over a wicked cross and Dawson does really well but the flag was up.

35
Free kick to Spurs right on the edge of the box on the left hand side as Rose goes down.

34
Eriksen's free kick is wasted as he overhits it and Dawson can't meet it at the back post.

33
First yellow card of the night as Toure brings down Dembele, who beats him all ends up in the middle of the pitch.

32
Eriksen delivers another excellent corner and Bentaleb meets it, but his touch is too slight and the ball drifts harmlessly wide.

31
Excellent from Rose who forces a corner out of Kompany with a powerful low cross.

30
Another corner for Man City after Rose stops Dzeko in his tracks with a strong challenge. Kompany can't direct the Navas corner on target and Spurs have a breather.

29
City corner from the right after Silva's attempt is deflected behind. Navas' delivery is volleyed towards goal and there are muted appeals for handball but the referee is unmoved.

28
Rose does well this time, sliding in to stop the rampaging Zabaleta after Navas tries to find the full back on the overlap.

27
Poor from Rose, giving it away when attempting a cross. City back on the ball and Silva is trying to pick the lock again.

26
Demichelis in hard on Adebayor but it's the City man who's come off worse. He hobbles back into position before Eriksen's cross is easily collected by Joe Hart.

24
Spurs really struggling to get a handle on the midfield, with Bentaleb yet to have many touches and Lennon totally marked out of it so far. Zabaleta the latest man to shoot but his curling left-foot half-volley sails over the bar.

23
Off the line! Danny Rose is the man in the right place. Aguero's header is cleared right on the line before another chance falls his way but this time Aguero blazes just over. He looks like scoring every time he touches the ball.

22
City keep up the pressure and Navas whips in a great cross from the right. Dzeko is begging to get on the end of it but Dawson is there to push it behind for a corner.

21
City hit back and almost double their lead. Clichy at the heart of a move down the left and Aguero looks sure to score when the cross comes over but his fine header is remarkably saved by Hugo Lloris. Wonderful stuff all round.

20
Arguably a much better chance for Tottenham from the subsequent corner. Eriksen swings over a peach of a cross and it takes a little flick off Kompany before Adebayor can't quite poke it home.

19
First chance for Spurs and it's Adebayor, who makes a yard of space on the edge of the box before his shot is deflected wide.

18
Spurs trying to stamp some authority on the game but Demichelis easily heads a long ball clear before City are gifted another throw just inside their own half.

17
Tottenham struggling to maintain possession, but that does seem to be the case with most Premier League teams against City at present.

16
Dzeko fancies a piece of the action but his shot is again high, wide and not too handsome.

15
GOAL! (Sergio Aguero) Sheer class. Silva afforded too much room in the middle of the park and he slots a beautiful pass through to the onrushing Aguero. He still has plenty to do but dinks a tidy finish past Lloris and into the far corner.

14
Sigurdsson fouled by Zabaleta gives the home side some respite but Adebayor can't get on the end of the free kick.

13
Good trickery from Navas on the right wing but his inside pass goes astray before Bentaleb lobs the ball out for a City throw.

12
Adebayor a shade isolated and he loses out on the left touchline. City back on the ball and probing from left to right. Only one side in command here...

11
Brilliant link-up between Dzeko and Aguero but Dzeko shoots wildly over the top from a tight angle rather than laying it back to his strike partner. Toure was also arriving late in the box and didn't look happy with Dzeko's decision to go alone.

10
Tottenham urged to come forward through Rose but the attack fizzles out before Clichy is fouled down by the corner flag in the City half.

9
Toure finds Dzeko with a well-placed long pass but the big man fouls Walker when going for the second ball.

8
Poor from Dembele this time as he scuffs a pass straight out for a throw near the half-way line. Spurs need to tighten up a little in order to quash this City side.

7
Dembele gets past Toure and finds Eriksen but Silva gets back to make the tackle. Dzeko can't hold up the long ball forward.

6
Tottenham try to calm things down but soon give it away again.

5
Aguero breaks into the box again but the Spurs defence does enough to crowd him out this time. Early warning signs for the home side. He looks in the mood.

4
Spurs fans in good voice early on but City are enjoying the lion's share of possession. Huge chance for Aguero, who makes it out of nothing himself, drifting past three players and firing against the post with Lloris beaten. Brilliant play.

3
Navas and Silva combine on the City right but Tottenham win the throw in off the Spanish midfielder.

2
City lose out in nmidfield but Sigurdsson's throughball can't find Adebayor.

1
Tottenham get us under way and make a bright start but Adebayor's loose pass goes out for a City throw.

The players are coming out onto the pitch for what should be a fantastic match. Can Tottenham do Arsenal a favour and put themselves right in the mix near the top of the table? Or will the rampant City prove too hot to handle? Answers to follow...

Ru Cheeseman says: "I dont know what Will is on about, we will comeback hard after that shocking defeat, i could even see it as a 3-1 victory for Spurs with an Adebayor brace and Eriksen goal, with possible assists coming from Eriksen as well, who has been in fine form recently.COYS." That's the spirit.

Worth noting the very different sides put out compared to November's 6-0 drubbing at the Etihad. Man City's starting line-up has four changes from that match, while Tottenham has seven new names in the team, including Adebayor, Dembele and Sigurdsson, who were all on the bench.

Good stuff from Dave, who offers: "As an Arsenal fan, I can't say I'm supporting Spurs here...but I would ideally like City to lose!"

Swaley P writes: "Hi, with City's current form, I can't see much happening from Spurs. Although Ade might have other ideas. City to thump Spurs 4-1."

Lee O'Toole now: "Hi Matthew massive city fan and hope to see nothing but city dominance tonight , hope to see a lot of fernandhino and toure holding down the midfeild , great squad the manager put out and I am going for a 2-0 city win! COME ON YOU BLUES!!!"

Leonard is back in with: "As a City fan, I for one am pleased that Jermain Defoe is on the bench. For me he has always been Spurs best striker. Cannot believe they are letting him go."

Will Lavender says: "Spurs have been in alright form recently but I can't see anything other than another City win, as Spurs just don't have the quality to match them, 3-0!"

Rich Tipping: "Hi from a City fan who's at Hearts v St Mirren as I'm in Scotland for work. Very strong City side to win 3-1."

Ludvik Grondal from Kopavogur, Iceland, expects goals, saying: "Hi. I am going for an action packed 2-2 draw, although being a Spurs fan I certainly hope for a Spurs win because as has been said so many times before this is the kind of match Spurs have to win if they mean to contend in the top four. I also hope our man from Iceland, Gylfi Sigurdsson, to score!!"

Spurs fan Michael, from Maidstone, has emailed: "Hi Matt, after the beating we receive at their place I would love to see us nick a result. I'm going with a well earned 2-1 spurs win."

Leonard de Silva says: "If the blues win tonight and again on Monday, It could prove that they are ready to make a claim for the title."

Aria from Nottingham says: "Spurs have made excellent progress since being under the management of Tim Sherwood, however i'm going for a 4-1 win to City. Should expect plenty of goals in this match!"

Matt has been in touch, writing: "It's not going to be an easy game tonight. Can see it finishing 3-0 with Aguero and Negredo netting one each and Navas to get one late on. Can't see Adebyebye getting a touch in this game." That's tempting fate rather, isn't it Matt?

So Tim Sherwood once again puts his faith in French youngster Bentaleb and former Man City man Adebayor, with Soldado on the bench, while Alvaro Negredo is only fit enough for a sub's role so Dzeko partners Sergio Aguero up top for the away side. Lewis Holtby, rumoured to be pushing for a move away from White Hart Lane, is a substitute tonight.

Man City team: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy, Navas, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko. Subs: Pantilimon, Lescott, Nastasic, Kolarov, Rodwell, Negredo, Jovetic.

Tottenham team: Lloris, Walker, Chiriches, Dawson, Rose, Lennon, Bentaleb, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Adebayor. Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Capoue, Chadli, Holtby, Defoe, Soldado.

We'll have the team news for you as soon as it's available but in the meantime why not head to Sky Bet's website to check out the markets and place your bets on this evening's encounter. The Leeds-based firm make City their odds-on favourites at 10/11, with Spurs a juicy 3/1 chance. The draw is chalked up at 11/4.

After predicting an Everton win last night, I'm going to sit this one out in terms of trying to guess the outcome but I'd love to hear your thoughts so do get in touch.
