Magpies boss Chris Kiwomya will be without defender Gary Liddle for the midweek cup-tie.

Liddle was shown a straight red card during last Friday's season opener against Sheffield United and begins a three-match ban.

Manny Smith could come into defence but Kiwomya has hinted at further changes to his starting line-up.

Veteran striker Enoch Showunmi is likely to start having scored against the Blades as a substitute.

The visitors will check on midfielder Junior Brown ahead of their trip to Nottingham.

Brown had to be withdrawn during Saturday's season opener against Dagenham after complaining of dizziness.

Matty Blair and Nathan Pondare both vying for a place in the middle and Cod Army boss Graham Alexander could make further changes.

Veteran goalkeeper David Lucas is expected to feature between the posts while striker Jamille Matt is also hoping for inclusion.
