Live: Tottenham 6 South China 0

Full Time. That's it. There is no consolation goal and it's finished 6-0. Tottenham will pleased with that performance.

Chance! Once again Martins goes close as he runs one-on-one against Lloris. But with the goalkeeper closing in, the South China man stabs his effort wide.

Chance! South China almost have their goal but Martins sees his brilliant curling effort pushed wide expertly by the diving Lloris.

A clean strike from Townsend as he drills the ball left-footed low into the far corner.

Goal! Andros Townsend with a free-kick.

Sealy almost puts through his own net from Townsend's cross.

Townsend with another bustling dribble but this time he overruns the ball and that's a goal-kick.

Sigurdsson flicks the ball behind the defence and Defoe does the rest with a low left-footed finish.

Goal! Defoe completes his hat-trick!

Carroll shows great skill to drive forward but is pushed just wide by Sigurdsson's return pass.

Townsend goes down again. He's causing problems with his dribbling.

Townsend fouled.

Those substitutions have disrupted the game a little but Spurs clearly finishing much the stronger as South China tire.

Chance! Defoe away in the left channel and shoots with his weaker left foot. He gets great contact but Zhang saves with his feet.

Fryers on for Rose.

Townsend on for Lennon.

Livermore replaces Parker.

Huddlestone on for Dembele.

A rare counter-attack from South China but Martins screws the shot just wide of the far post. So much excitement in the ground with every South China attack.

Parker on the receiving end now. Slight delay.

Carroll again tries to play in Defoe but this time the forward is offside.

When the ball does go through to Defoe with a great pass from Carroll, the striker unselfishly tries to set up Sigurdsson but gets the pass wrong.

Controlled possession from Spurs inside their own half. Taking a breather, it seems.

Martins with a wild shot. Desperation stuff from South China.

Defoe almost makes it a hat-trick as he lunges in to get on the end of a Rose cross but South China defend it well.

Rose with the through-ball and Zhang looks to be getting there ahead of Defoe but the goalkeeper tries to be too deliberate with his clearances and only succeeds in striking Defoe, who then runs clear and slots the ball into the empty net.

Goal! Defoe with his second!

Dembele sloppily concedes possession and then fouls Martins.

Tempo has eased a little in this second half.

Parker continues to put in some robust challenges. It's not much of a friendly for him.

Tottenham camped inside the South China half but not getting in behind.

Spurs start as they left off. Good possession before Lennon tries a reverse pass to Sigurdsson that doesn't quite come off.

South China kick-off the second half.

Naughton replaces Walker.

Carroll is on for Dempsey.

The players are on the field and we'll be underway again in a moment.

Half Time. It's a job well done so far by Tottenham. They lead 3-0 at the break.

Walker sees his free-kick deflected and the ball falls conveniently for Defoe right in front of the goal. He lashes the ball into the corner to end the half on a high.

Goal! Jermain Defoe has his goal.

Dempsey is hauled down. He fancied his chances of running clear on goal there.

Best football Tottenham have played in a while. Space is engineered for Walker but his cross for Defoe is drilled a little too sharply and the striker cannot direct the header.

Again, the free-kick is whipped in and Tottenham clear. No real aerial threat for South China.

A series of minor fouls by Tottenham are breaking the rhythm of the game.

Great skill from Martins to get past Walker but his shot, cutting in from the left, is weak and straight at Lloris. The crowd loved that.

Dawson clears the free-kick.

Barry wins another free-kick. He's battled well in attack.

Defoe skins his marker in the left channel and cuts the ball back for Dempsey to slot home.

Goal! Clint Dempsey finally doubles the lead!

The free-kick is a poor one and doesn't beat the first man. Spurs break but Dempsey shoots wide.

Rose fouls Martins. Respite for South China.

Chance! Defoe heads against the post!

Another good build-up from Spurs finds Rose in space but Defoe cannot connect properly from his centre. It's actually a fine save from Tsang.

Miss! Parker lofts a pass over the top to Dempsey. The Spurs man gets lucky with the first touch and it sits up nicely for him to chip the goalkeeper but he gets too much on it and balloons the ball over the bar.

Lennon finds Sigurdsson in space on the left but his cross is somehow cleared despite the presence of Spurs bodies in the box.

Almost another own goal as Sigurdsson's cross is turned behind. South China struggling to deal with the pace of Walker and Lennon on the right.

Walker goes down looking for a penalty but the referee gives the decision the other way.

Caulker heads away the subsequent free-kick.

Another poor challenge from Parker on Barry.

Defoe does latch onto this cut-back but his shot is blocked.

Great show of pace from Lennon to beat two men on the right but there is no team-mate on the end of his cut-back.

Parker certainly putting himself about in midfield. Bad tackle from behind on Barry now.

Parker tries to find Defoe but the ball doesn't stick.

Chance! Sigurdsson with a fine through-ball to get Defoe away and clean on goal but Joel just catches up the striker to block his shot.

Spurs continuing to dominate. Two more corners threaten to double the lead but South China stand firm.

Dembele strode forward and threaded a pass to Dempsey in the left channel. He then backheeled neaty to set up Rose to cross and Tse could only get a foot to it that pushed the ball into his own net.

Goal! Rose sees his firm cross deflected past the goalkeeper.

Dempsey holds the ball up nicely but Rose surrenders possession.

Walker gets to the byline well but his cross is cleared.

Some of these players are really struggling to control the ball on this surface.

Cross comes in from the right but Walker just gets there ahead of Barry.

First bit of possession in the final third for South China. Parker puts in a strong tackle to limit the opposition to a throw-in.

Rose getting forward well and puts in an inviting cross that just eludes Defoe.

Spurs enjoy calmer possession thanks to Dembele and Parker.

Mayhem in the South China box but Sigurdsson fails to connect cleanly with the bouncing ball and the chance comes to nothing.

Lennon wins a corner down the right.

Dempsey almost latches onto a Defoe flick-on but the England international had come back from an offside position.

Tottenham kick-off and we are underway.

The players are out and we'll be underway shortly.

The pitch has plenty of sand on it in an attempt to minimise the damage caused by the recent storms. The flanks look to be in better conditions but it could be a struggle to move the ball quickly in the middle.

Long odds against a South China win but they gave a decent account of themseves against Man City on Wednesday, losing just 1-0.

Sky Bet have the odds for this one and they make Tottenham 2/9 favourites with South China as the 11/1 outsiders. The draw is available at 6/1.

If you're a Spurs fan, what are you hoping to see from the team today? Let me know on email at or on Twitter @GhostGoal.

Tottenham: Lloris; Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Rose; Dembele, Parker, Sigurdsson; Lennon, Defoe, Dempsey.

The Spurs team is in and will be up shortly.

Tottenham lost that match 3-1 to Sunderland but they're back to take on Manchester City's victims and it seems we will have better conditions for this contest.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he is not keen on playing this game after seeing Jan Vertonghen injured in the drenched conditions in midweek.

Welcome to live commentary of Tottenham's third-place play-off against South China in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.

Kick-off is at 1100 BST.
