Live: Chelsea 2 Aston Villa 1

I hope you've enjoyed the commentary - thanks for all your tweets to @1rebs. Come back again soon!

Probably the right result overall but Villa will rue a couple of really good chances.. Chelsea had some great possession but couldn't really create too much and still look in need of a front man to make the most of their midfield creativity

They could've been out of sight in the first half but Villa held their own in the second after the equaliser and should've had a penalty at the end.

And Chelsea hang on for the three points

Chelsea break from an unsuccessful Villa corner but it breaks down - looking at the repla Villa should've had a penalty for that handball - John Terry's hand was high and he made contact with the ball

Delph vall in and Villa claim handball - nothing given - Paul Lambert is going mad

Villa attack falls flat to huge cheers from the Shed end but its nervy here for Chelsea

but thats poor from Lowton who passes it straight out for a goal kick... but we have 5 minutes added time here

Can Villa fashion one more chance or was that the opportunity - they have a free kick -- Delph plays it in but its cleared - Villa still have it

Almost an equaliser for Villa - ball in won by Benteke falls to Weimann but Cech makes a fine save - that was so close

Chelsea trying to just knock it about in midfield - eventually the long ball is played towards Schurrle but he can't control it

van Ginkel replaces Oscar for Chelsea as they look to see this out

El Ahmadi is replaced by Alex Tonev

Hazard plays it to schurrle who looks to get away, he eventually plays it across to Ivanovic but his shot is blocked

Hazard to Schurrle... back to Hazard, to Oscar - very intricate - falls to Lukaku - but he puts it intot he side netting

jammy : All very well Chelsea playing pretty football but goals win games and Ba certainly isn't the answer Jose needs to sort it out ASAP

Ivanovic has clashed with Benteke again - the Referee is giving him a final warning... Benteke is booked for his part

The ball in by lampard is headed in by Ivanovic - but Villa will argue he's lucky to be on the pitch - was a great ball in by Lampard howver, laid on a plate

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-1 CHELSEA

Westwood booked

The free kick is played in to Benteke who almost gets the other side of his defender, just 6 yards out but just as it looks as if he's about to tap in his second its taken away from him - excellent tackle from Cahill

Ivanovic is booked after a clash with Benteke - he's very lucky there looking at the replay - a swinging arm

Schurrle lays it off to Lampard, his shot is blocked, Lukaku tries to bombard his way through but he's stopped.. Schurrle hits it from the edge of the box but his effort is over

Mick Burton: Villa have goals in them win can win this. Benteke could be the signing of the season

Lukaku lays it off to Ramires but his finish would've been more at home at Twickenham

Chelsea bring on Lukaku and Scurrle for Ba and Mata

El Ahmadi booked for a foul on Mata

Great cross from Benteke, he finds Weimann who meets it far post - great save from Cech

Great run from Matty Lowton, he slides it across, lovely step over from benteke to allow it to reach Agbonlahor and he stries to curl it in the top corner.... but its just over

Ball played into the box and falls to Hazard, he drops the shoulder but pulls the shot wide from a central position - he's frustrated with himself there

Lampard, Cole and Mata play a triangle in midfield.... Oscar clips it into the box but great defending by Okore - he's done well since he came on

Mata weaves his way into the box but its great defending by Lowton, who shepherds him away from goal.. Mata takes it out of play

Benteke tries to find Agbonlahor but its cut out

Ramires takes out Delph - no yellow card though. Kevin riend warns him

Lukaku is warming up

Mata gets the ball wide on the left, but his ball is overhit into the Matthew Harding Stand

Ryan Roberts: Chelsea need to up their game. We're meant to be title contenders. This is embarrassing!!!!

Hazard with another industrious run - slips it to Oscar but his cross is to nobody

Okore replaced the stricken Ciaran Clark at half time

Ba finally breaks the offside trap and thinks he's brought down by Vlaar in the box - but nothing given

I'll whisper this but..ahem.. Demba Ba is caught offside as he attempts to get away

Aston Villa start the second half

Here they come for the second half then...

katherine scott: Ok well now at 1-1 Chelsea need to get out of the blocks quickly in the 2nd half and just play football they are capable of! 3-1

Patrick Davitt: A win for Villa is not essential after their win over Arsenal but it would certainly boost team morale for the Liverpool match

Ryan Webster: How about getting Ba off, and putting Lukaku on! That will get the party started!

Mark from Tayport in Scotland: Looks like Mourinho needs to use his magic now. Not surprise to see Chelsea seeing out the match and win 2-1 though; doing just enough.

Malik Sarmad: I said Benteke will be scoring tonight , what a gem of a player .Now i can really see aston villa sneaking a draw or may be all 3

Any Chelsea fans worried? Or do you think it was a simple blip?

Ashley CFC Ralphz: Put Andre Schurrle or Romelu Lukaku for Ba not impressed with him so far

Archie Webster: Oooo Christian Benteke 2-1 Villa second half methinks

Liam Maka : Up the Villa . Benteke was always on the cards to score , Lets hope they come out in the second half and earn themselves a WIN !!!

Sam Ashton: Get Ba off he's useless and constantly offside

So now what are your thoughts... an equaliser completely against the run of play for Aston Villa - is that punishment for Chelsea becoming lethargic?

And it was the last kick of the half

Yes I did say Aston Villa!!.....Who else?! Christian Benteke... it was a great run from Agbonlahor. He pulled it back from the byline and Benteke struck powerfully past Cech

Great take of a long ball from Ba, he turns but his shot is saved by Guzan

Three minutes to be added... its been all Chelsea, but, having held on to 1-0 so far,Paul Lambert might feel he's still in the game

Villa get a free kick to mass celebration from the Villa fans who feel a bit hard done by..

Good play here by Villa, Benteke plays it out wide to Agbonlahor - he plays it back to Westwood who tries to play in Weimann but he can't quite bring it under control

Liam Maka: Villa to level things up early in the second half then benteke to score the last winner for a 2-1 villa win!!

not sure he's going to be able to carry on...

Ba is caught offside for the umpteenth time in the first half but he catches Ciaran Clark with a stray boot and the Villa man is on the floor with a head injury....looks a bit groggy and there's a bit of scarlet

you can e-mail me too

Benteke has space 25 yards out, but he tries to find Agbonlahor who is on his heels on the wing.. maybe Weimann would've been the better option

Keep your tweets coming in @1rebs - anyone think there's any way back for Villa?

Oscar again receives the ball out wide and cuts in towards the edge of the box, but his shot matches his previous efforts and doesnt trouble Guzan

Lowton cuts inside towards the box with intention but Ashley Cole sticks a foot out and nicks it away from him

Great vocal support from the Villa fans in the corner... not much for them to get excited about but they're right behind their side

Ivanovic's long ball to Ba in the box, he throws himself and his left foot at the ball but can't quite make contact

Fabiend Delph decides to take on the entire Chelsea defence on his own, a great run, but foiled by Ivanovic in the end

Free kick to Chelsea - central, around 30 yards out...Lampard lines it up.... but there's no repeat of Sunday - over the bar

Dean Jones: Chelsea have started like a rocket but im sure villa can calm them down soon

Benteke wins it back.. it falls to El Ahmadi 30 yards out, but he blasts it over the bar - ambitious

Not much of an atmosphere inside the Bridge tonight... all too easy on the pitch, crowd happy to sit back and enjoy it at the moment

.. but its well defended by Vlaar

Finally a Villa attack as Luna's cross finds Weimann but his header is blocked by Ashley Cole.. and Chelsea break..

Chelsea letting Villa play up to the halfway line but then just pick-pocketing them through Ramires.. great interplay between Hazard and Mata on the edge of the box, Clark gets a foot in, but Chelsea get it back - Oscar hits one.... but its high and wide

Its all too easy for Chelsea.. looking like a keep-ball session.. eventually John Terry lofts it forward but again Ba is offside

Villa trying to get a foothold in the game, just happy to get a few touches of the ball in their own half

Mata plays a long early ball through to Ba but Vlaar manages to get a foot in, and put it out for a throw

Could this be a long night for Villa now? theyre chasing shadows right now

Its all Chelsea - Oscar knocks a cross in that is scrambled clear... Ba picks up, passes to Cole who attempts a through ball. it eventually falls to Oscar, but he drags it wide

it was pushed out by Guzan, only to hit Ron Vlaar and roll in

it was a lovely ball from Oscar through to Hazard.. his shot was on target, but a double ricochet means it could go down as an own goal

GOAL!!!!!!! Chelsea take the lead

Lovely move by Chelsea, Hazard and Demba Ba play a one-two but Ba's flick back to the Belgian finds Clark

Good move from Villa, nice interchange in midfield by Agbonlahor is offside as its played forwards

Benteke will have to be patient tonight - could be quite isolated at times, big job to hold it up when he can..... Chelsea happy to knock it about in midfield at the moment

Long ball forward towards Demba Ba but he's offside

Off we go...Chelsea in Possession

Vlaar and Terry contesting the Toss with referee Kevin Friend and it looks as if Chelsea will attack the Shed End in the first half

Here come the teams....

Toby: CHELSEA to win 4-0 with Ba, Mata and probably Lampard to score! COME ON BLUES!!!

So most expecting a long night for Aston Villa - but then who would've backed them to win at the Emirates???

Malik Sarmad: Chelsea will win tonight but not that comfortably like last year 8-0 thrashing , i expect benteke to score a goal or two

Ryan Webster: So glad to see my favourite 2 players playing tonight. Lampard and Mata! They are going to boss the Aston Villa midfielders and defenders around and I just can't believe what a chance this is for Chelsea to go 1st in the league.

Ashley Berkelmans: Going to be a tough game, 3-1 Chelsea though. Would like to see more of Lukaku but Ba needs a run out.

Jack, in Cranwell: As a Man Utd fan, I'm really hoping that Lambert's youngsters can put a dent in Mourinho's confidence before they come to Old Trafford, that would be great!

Kieraaan: Should be a Chelsea win, there midfield is outstanding, not sure how Benteke will perform yet, both goals so far coming from pens.

Josh Ames: With the Special One back and Mata returning to the side, nothing but a Chelsea win here. 4-0. Mata with a double, Lampard and Hazard.

Kevin Bamforth: Chelsea's far superior midfield will control and win this game.

Ashley CFC Ralphz: Torres dropped from chelsea line up maybe a sign he is not Mourinhos number 1 choice

Warren Davies: 4-2 to Chelsea goals from lamps ba mata and oscar. Benteke for villa

Ryan Simpson: Both clubs look dangerous but I think mourinho can guide Chelsea to a second win, 4-1!

Dean Jones: can't see us getting an 8-0 drubbing like last season, I say 2-1 villa, Benteke and Gabby on fire

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

The team news is in.....

I'm Rebecca Stephenson and I'll be guiding you through the action as both sides look to build on their wins at the weekend... throughout the game you can tweet or email your views to me... tweet @1rebs or email
