Live: Manchester City 1 Bayern Munich 2

That's all for tonight's interactive commentary, so thanks for joining us. Don't forget to check back for a full match report shortly.

City put in a very promising performance tonight, second-half in particular, against the European champions, and Manuel Pellegrini is unlikley to have too many complaints over how his side fared, although he has every right to feel aggrieved by the penalty decision for Bayern's equaliser.

It's all over in Germany and it's a 2-1 win for Bayern Munich.

Mitchell Weiser comes on in place of Philipp Lahm.

Good chance for City as they break on the counter-attack but Dzeko is denied by Neuer when through on goal.

Corner for Bayern Munich as the game enters its final few minutes.

Great turn of pace from Navas who shows exactly what he's capable of as he gets to the byline, but he can't keep his cross in play.

Mandzukic smashes against the post from the edge of the area after a great touch.

Muller's effort is deflected behind for a corner as Bayern try to extend their lead.

Smart save from Pantilimon who beats away Shaqiri's goalbound effort.

Change for City as Negredo makes way for Edin Dzeko.

Mario Mandzukic heads Bayern in front after a great delivery from Muller.

Daniel van Buyten and Jerome Boateng are on for Bayern with Javi Martinez and Dante making way.

Pantilimon does well to punch away Shaqiri's corner and City can break.

Kompany heads the ball behind for a corner.

City manage to work the ball into the area again with Nasri and Negredo involved but the Frenchman's shot is eventually blocked.

Shaqiri fires over from distance.

Thomas Muller sends Pantilimon the wrong way to equalise from the spot.

Penalty given to Bayern for a handball by Zabaleta. Seemed harsh.

More good defending from City sees them snuff out another Bayern attack as Mandzukic looked to turn. Very commading display from Kompany at the back so far.

Jan Kirchoff replaces Bastian Schweinsteiger for the hosts.

Negredo opens the scoring for Manchester City. The Spaniard latches onto Nasri's through ball before firing low past Neuer.

Yaya Toure has a strike on target from distance but it's easy for Neuer to collect.

Substitution for Bayern - Rafinha replaces Toni Kroos in what appears to be a precautionary move following the German's knock.

Slight break in play as Toni Kroos recieves treatment after Fernandinho caught him slightly late.

Double substitution for Bayern Munich - Mario Mandzukic and Xherdan Shaqiri are on in place of Arjen Robben and Thiago Alcantara.

Big chance for City! Great play down from the right by Zabaleta who feeds Nasri, his cross puts it on a plate for Negredo who heads straight at Neuer from close range. Should have scored really.

Bayern play a short corner once again but Ribery is caught offside after Alaba tried to play him into a crossing position.

Clichy hooks the ball away for a corner after Robben headed towards the danger area.

The ball is in the back of the net but the linesman's flag is up for offside after Nasri latched onto Navas' pass and slotted past Neuer.

Kroos fires over from outside the area. Bayern forced to shoot from distance once again as the City defence have allowed no way through.

A superb through ball from Gael Clichy finds the run of Nasri but he is smothered by Neuer when through on goal.

Double substitution for City at the break as Jesus Navas replaces Stevan Jovetic and Yaya Toure comes on for Gareth Barry.

Manchester City get the second-half back underway.

Apologies for the slight technical hitch during the first-half which meant that updates were slow to appear... (or inded non-existant!), we seem to be running smoothly again. Dont forget you can get in touch with your verdict, email: or Tweet: @ryanparrish1919 and a selection will be published.

It's all square at the break in Munich. The hosts dominated for the most part but City find themselves unlucky not to be in front after a couple of good chances at the end of the half.

Negredo heads over again after another good delivery. This time it's Milner supplying the cross but the Spaniard can't hit the target. Another good chance.

Great chance for City. Nasri's cross is perfect for Negredo but he can only find the hands of Neuer. Probably the best chance of the game.

City mount a quick counter-attack but Negredo can't quite connect properly with Clichy's low cross and he side-foots wide.

Kroos' free-kick is cleared before Lahm skies his strike.

Dedryck Boyata goes into the book for an innocuous challenge on Ribery when it looked like he won the ball.

A searching ball into the area is just too high for Muller who rose well, but it goes behind for a goalkick.

Kompany is there again to shore things up for City and he wins the free-kick inside his own half.

Gael Clichy tries a speculative effort which flies over the bar after good work from City, with Negredo and Jovetic both involved in the attack.

Scweinsteiger is unmarked at the back post but his looping header lands on the roof of the net.

Kompany puts the ball behind for a corner after some smart build-up play.

Ribery breaks free down the left and fires across goal but nobody is there to apply the finish.

First real chance of the game for City as a good strike from Jovetic just evades the post from 20 yards out.

Double chance for Bayern - Robben cuts inside to strike on his left-foot but Pantilimon gets down well before Kompany is forced to clear under pressure. Javi Martinez then heads high and wide from close range.

Some clever play from Schweinsteiger as he dinks a ball into the area looking for Muller's head, but his run is slightly mistimed and the flag is raised for offside despite his header flying over.

Jovetic flagged for offside as City try to break. It's been a frustrating opening 25 minutes for them.

City still chasing shadows as the hosts continue to dominate proceedings.

The resulting corner is headed clear.

Kompany turns the ball behind for a corner after Lahm combines with Robben down the right to get a cross away.

Bayern continue to control the game at their own pace although they've struggled to turn their possession into real chances just yet.

Ribery tries to force his way into the area but he finds himself outnumbered by City defenders and they manage to clear their lines.

Robben is allowed to cut inside and tries to unleash one of his trademark strikes, but he can only find the stands.

City struggling to get hold of the ball whatsoever in these opening stages. Muller, Thiago and Schweinsteiger all pulling the strings.

Robben whips a free-kick into the area which is collected gratefully by Pantilimon.

Ribery tries to take on Boyata but the Belgian defender times his challenge well to put the ball out for a corner.

Toni Kroos strikes from outside of the area but Pantilimon palms it away.

Bayern starting to control possession inside the City half.

Thiago looks for the run of Thomas Muller with an ambitious cross-field ball, but it is slightly overhit and it goes behind for a goalkick.

Philipp Lahm's ball over the top is hit first time by Ribery but he drags his effort wide of Pantilimon's goal. End-to-end start to this game.

Jovetic's persistance allows Nasri to take the ball on before picking out Milner on the right but his shot is blocked.

Bayern immediately go up the other end and almost open the scoring themselves. Costel Pantilimon is forced to pull off a smart save to deny Franck Ribery inside the area.

City mount an earlier attack after exhanges between James Milner and Alvaro Negredo, but the Spaniard's cross goes behind.

The hosts get us underway in Germany.

Thanks to Matt Wise (@WiseGamingHD) for getting in touch via Twitter. He says: "Looking forward to this. NIce to see Jovetic start after a great couple of seasons in Italy. BRING IT ON!!"

We're just under five minutes away from kick-off in Munich, with what looks like another full-house at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern were also victorious yesterday, beating Brazilian side Sao Paulo 2-0.

As always, please feel free to get in touch before, during and after the game to give me your thoughts. The best will be published here. You can email me: or Tweet me: @ryanparrish1919.
