It was not the greatest advert for the Scottish Premiership, the game rarely flickering into life at either end but the point was enough to move Caley up to fourth, whilst Hibs stay in seventh.

Inverness boss John Hughes rang the chages with the cup final only four days away and Hibs almost took advantage of the hosts' unfamiliar line-up early in the match.

Dean Brill had to make a fine save from Ryan McGivern with his fingertips, whilst at the other end Billy Mckay was inches away from steering home Aaron Doran's attempted curling shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.

As far as clear-cut chances went in the game, that was more or less it.

Hibs bossed the first half in terms of possession, but neither side could string a series of passes together in difficult conditions.

If the fans hoped for better in the second-half, they were to be disappointed - if anything it got worse.

There was finally something for the home fans to get excited about when Doran's knock over the top found Mckay, who did well to control it, before shooting for goal from the angle.

However, the ball went wide of the near post and nestled in the side-netting.

Inverness captain Richie Foran found his way into the referee's notebook for a strong challenge on Sam Stanton, before McGivern was booked after catching Nick Ross late.

The hosts almost took the lead when Ross played a neat ball through to Doran, but again with the angle tightening he could only fire a shot straight at Ben Williams, who palmed it away to safety.

No-one could make the breakthrough in the latter stages of a scrappy affair where a point apiece was probably the right result.
