Scott McDonald's 39th-minute strike was enough to clinch a victory described by manager Tony Mowbray as the best since he took charge of the Teesside club.

"I'll be watching the draw just the same as the supporters will be," Friend told Middlesbrough newspaper, the Evening Gazette.

"There's some brilliant teams in there and no matter who you get at this stage it will be difficult, but it gives you the chance now to edge that bit further.

"It's the furthest I've been in this competition personally and that's the same for several of the lads. To get this far for anyone is exciting times.

"It is a real chance for us to achieve something. It's a chance for us all to put ourselves in the spotlight as individuals and put ourselves on the map as a club."
