Boro were contenders for much of the last campaign but faded as injuries depleted Tony Mowbray's squad.

However, Hoyte believes the current crop can maintain the challenge after surging into the top two.

Hoyte told Middlesbrough's official website: "I think we're much better set up.

"Last season we faded away but I feel this season we are pushing more and there is a desire and determination to prove exactly how we good we are.

"It has been a surprise how everything has blended so quickly after a lot of changes. It seems like we are a good squad this season.

"We're bonding well and whoever plays gives everything to get the result we need. Everyone gives their best."
