Tony Mowbray: Delighted Andy Halliday is getting his opportunity

The 21-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season, but having seen him convert from winger to emergency left-back with George Friend injured, Mowbray is keen to keep him.

The manager told the Evening Gazette: "Hopefully something will be resolved in time.

"Recently, I was having discussions with his advisors about potential loan moves.

"I have put one or two of those off over the last few weeks because I have been sensing that we are a bit short defensively, and ultimately George broke down and Andrew's chance arrived for him.

"Nobody is happier than myself for Andy, who trains like a Trojan every day and is very focused and not short of confidence, which is a good quality to have."
