McDermott confirmed the club had received two recent offers for the 26-year-old Scotland international - reported to have been from Sky Bet Championship rivals Blackpool and Middlesbrough - and that both had been turned down.

"Ross is staying here. He wants to stay and we want to keep him," McDermott said after seeing his side squeeze past Chesterfield in the first round of the Capital One Cup with a 2-1 home win.

McDermott also denied having made an offer for West Ham winger Matt Taylor.
