Boro are not against bolstering their ranks with short-term deals, but have no intention of bringing reinforcements in for the sake of it.

Mowbray is pleased with the squad he has been able to assemble and will only make a move if a target he feels will considerably improve his side becomes available.

Asked if he is contemplating returning to the negotiating table, he told the Evening Gazette: "Only for the right players and they are not jumping out at me at the moment.

"We'll wait and see, see how the team does, see how the results go.

"We could be talking differently in a few weeks' time, sitting here comfortably relaxed with the squad.

"Numbers-wise it's about right, so let's wait and see what injuries we get, let's wait and see how the team goes."

Mowbray is believed to have enquired as to the availability of Norwich City pair Luciano Becchio and Daniel Ayala, but is giving little away when it comes to possible deals.

He added: "I've had conversations with Norwich about various players and obviously we've signed one player from Norwich (Jacob Butterfield) and taken one that was at Norwich (Kai Kamara) and I spoke to Chris Hughton about his temperament and his abilities and how he did for them.

"At the moment I'm concentrating on the players I've already got."

he thing is, footballers are role models, and children are influenced by them. I watched the Chelsea game with my 6 year old, and at school the next day she stamped on Emre Can.

et again Barcelona try to convince the world that they only play the most virtuous of football. I've never seen a team so willing and able to dish out lumps but feel so self-righteous that no opposition player should ever have the audacity to tackle them.

d love to see a United v Liverpool FA cup final. It would certainly fit the narrative. Obv I'd want the ending to be one of an O.G. and tears as he collects his runner-up medal.
