Boro have slipped 12 points adrift of the Sky Bet Championship play-off places as a result of a run of seven games without a victory.

Significantly, they have failed to score in each of those matches with Emmanuel Ledesma's 16th-minute winner against Charlton on January 18 their last goal.

However, ahead of Saturday's home clash with Ipswich, defender Friend is refusing to throw in the towel until he has no choice.

He told the Northern Echo: "I'd never rule out the play-offs. All you need in this league is to go on a run, and time is running out.

"We are running out of games, but I'm confident that we can still do it. I'd never give up on that as long as there is a chance."

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
