The forward, who began his career as a graduate of Boro's academy system, returned to the Riverside Stadium in January on a short-term deal.

He netted six goals for Aitor Karanka's side and helped to lay on a few more for grateful team-mates.

Fellow forwards Tomlin and Ledesma were among those to benefit from his presence and would like to find themselves working alongside the 28-year-old again next season.

Tomlin told the Middlesbrough Gazette of a man who has now returned to parent club Sunderland: "I'd really like to see Danny stay.

"He's brilliant to play with up front and he helps us express ourselves.

"It's up to the club but I hope they can do a deal to keep him. He's been great for me and for the team."

Ledesma added: "We would love Danny to stay.

"It is very difficult as he is a Premier League player and I am sure he would love to be playing there.

"But we need a striker who plays like him. He works very hard, he links really well with the midfield and he knows how to score. He has been really important for us.

"Hopefully, he stays. It will make a big difference to us. I think him staying would give us a much better chance of winning promotion next season."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
