The Seagulls trail the Lions by three points, with Poyet well aware of how difficult the match will be.
The south Londoners have lost just one of their last 15 league games and Poyet told the BBC: "Millwall have been doing well because of the way they have been playing, their group of players and their consistency.
"They believe in the way they play and they are doing that for 90 minutes so they deserve credit.
"They are on a great run and, from my point of view, the game they lost was the game they played the best. But that's football."
