The crucial derby victory came just three days after the Lions booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals following victory at Blackburn.
"Hopefully the players can take confidence from what has been a very good week," Jackett said.
"The first goal was always going to be crucial. It was a very tight game and conditions were tough.
"We started the morning five points off the bottom of the league and we had to get going."
Jackett had special words of praise for Shane Lowry after his 'Gareth Bale'-style free-kick clinched the three points.
"I can't say he's been practising that but he showed fantastic confidence," he said.
"There was no disguise on it or a runner over the ball - he just took the responsibility and did it on the day. It was a fantastic free-kick - the keeper had no chance.
"If I sit here and compare Shane to Gareth Bale people would have a field day but it's one thing doing it on the training ground and another taking one in front of a crowd."
