Ian Holloway: Frustrated with Bolton's style of play

Bolton took a first-half lead through Lukas Jutkiewicz but the striker saw a late penalty saved by Lions stopper David Forde.

That proved costly when Martyn Woolford equalised with eight minutes left but Holloway, whose side have won just one of their last 13 games in all competitions, was left frustrated by the Trotters' lack of ambition.

"I'm deadly serious when I say you would be bored senseless watching that kind of performance from them (Bolton)," he said.

"If that's how you set out to play when people pay a lot of money to watch I'd be bored senseless.

"The penalty save gave us the lift we needed. We got a couple of things wrong today when we overplayed a bit but the fans were brilliant and didn't get on our backs.

"They had one cross, one diving header and it went in off the post. And then they got a penalty.

"But it was a massive save. Everything is massive for us at this point.

"We're getting fitter and more confident. It's all about scrapping but we scrapped with style today.

"What more can I ask of my players? If they keep giving what they gave today I will be happy. The understanding and recognition of what I want is coming."

Bolton took the lead after 15 minutes when Chris Eagles sent over a teasing cross from the right and Jutkiewicz got across his man to head across goal and in to the far corner.

Eagles almost doubled the visitors' advantage when his free-kick struck the base of the post before Jutkiewicz's weak spot-kick was saved by Forde following Danny Shittu's handball in the area.

And Woolford made them pay when he pounced on the rebound to fire home after Adam Bogdan had parried a shot from substitute Simeon Jackson.

"I'm not really happy with a point because I felt that we controlled the game very well in the first half," said Bolton boss Dougie Freedman.

"We got a good goal with a great cross and great header.

"Then in the second half we defended very well but we missed chances when we hit the post and then the penalty miss so I felt we deserved the three points.

"But because of the missed penalty Millwall upped their game in the last 15 minutes. I thought we defended pretty well during that period but because of the chances we missed we got what we deserved in the end.

"The game was going flat and if the penalty goes in we win it comfortably. But not only did we miss it, the miss energised the crowd and gave them a lift, which lifted Millwall and we found ourselves defending."
