McCall, whose side recovered from their 5-0 home drubbing to Celtic by beating Ross County and St Mirren, is especially keen to extend the loan deals of midfielder Lionel Ainsworth and striker Henri Anier.

Those wins have lifted his side to within one point of second-placed Dundee United and McCall believes tying down two of his best performers this year would be an ideal Christmas present for himself, and the Fir Park faithful.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the former Rangers and Scotland midfielder said: "Lionel and Henri probably had their best games for us at the weekend and we will be having discussions over new deals in the next few days.

"I think Lionel is up on January 7 and Craig is the week after so it would be nice to get a present from Santa saying they can both stay here.

"Other than that, if I could keep the squad together during the January window then I will be very pleased."
