So, are you the kind of Arsenal fan who was cheering on Man City last week?
I kind of was, yes. I was kind of hoping they could do the Yid Army scum. Unfortunately, they couldn't do it. It didn't feel right cheering on Emmanuel Adebayor though - it's funny that it turns out he left Arsenal for Europa League football.

You're from Walthamstow - why Arsenal rather than Spurs?
My dad's a Spurs fan and tried to make me a Spurs fan. He reckons he took me to the ground but I don't remember that. When you're young it's all about the colour of the shirts and I liked the Arsenal red. And then I saw Ian Wright and that was it - I was a Gooner for life. Wrighty was the first player I saw and thought 'yes'. He definitely inspired me to being a footballer.

So you're a good footballer?
I used to be a phenomenal player. I was pretty cool. I could have been in the Premiership. I was at Wimbledon as a kid as a left-footed winger, but I had problems with my knees when I was 15. I could have had surgery but my parents were like 'nah nah nah'. They wasn't on it at all. They wanted me to go to university and get a career and stuff. So for the music I went behind the back and their will and by that time they had no choice. The first thing my dad knew was when he saw me on Top of the Pops.

My knees are alright now and I think I would have been alright with the surgery. I used to be a really, really fast runner - I moved so quick I put too much pressure on my knees. I'm looking forward to playing in this Soccer Six thing. We have little knockabouts when we're on tour but I haven't played competitively for a long time. It'd probably kill me now. I might have to get some cardio training in before then.

Are you a precious winger who doesn't like being tackled?
Nah, I don't really mind. I get my little Vinnie Jones attitude on. I can give a tackle. I used to be a centre-back because I was a little tough lad and I used to be captain. I hated it in defence so when we changed coaches I just told the new man I was a winger. Because I was the captain they couldn't say anything.

So are you in the In Wenger We Trust camp?
Yeah (a bit reluctantly). I don't full understand anything he does and he definitely needs to buy players. It's time we put our money where our mouth is. We need top-class Premier League players. I still think he's a top-class manager and with the money he's been given, to still be in the Champions League is a good achievement. But we need to win things - even a Carling Cup. A day out at Wembley would mean the world to fans, but it just seems like the board and the fans are on different pages.

So if you had the ear of Arsene, who would you tell him to buy?
We need either Torres, Drogba or David Villa. Anyone of them would do. We're missing a big striker who can score 20 goals - a natural goalscorer. We play lovely football but I want someone to put their foot through it. We need another centre-back and another holding midfielder. Song has done really well, man, but once he's out, that's it. You look at Chelsea and they've got Drogba, and then Anelka, and then Kalou. We need those kind of options.

Would you sell Fabragas for big money to fund a rebuild?
I don't know - Fabregas has become the heart of our squad. I wouldn't personally. He adds so much to the squad and offers a real presence any time he's on the pitch. He showed that courage on the pitch against Barcelona wen he took a penalty with a broken leg. That's priceless.

So is Wrighty your favourite ever Gunner?
Henry's up there with Wrighty - they're neck and neck with each other. He's a genius, man. He probably scored some of the best goals in football history. He had pace, skill, strength, vosion, awareness. When he first came he was this lost left-winger and then he became this incredible superstar. Wow. Amazing.

So do you know any footballers who are Bizzle fans?
I met a bunch of guys the other day. I went to a launch party because Didier Drogba has opened a shop. It turns out Essien likes my music and so does Kalou. I'm a football fan - a real humble character - and I don't want to be a groupie, so I was trying to be cool. They were looking at me like they recognised me and then they all said hello. I was trying to be cool but inside I'm like 'Michael Essien knows who I am'. I didn't realise Drogba is so big. I'm six foot and he towered over me. When I shook his hand, it was like I had beefcakes in my hand. He is huge.

So Arsenal in a cup final and you're playing a festival gig. What do you do?
That's happened to me before. I was in Leeds in August for the Arsenal v Man Yoo game. As soon as we came off the stage we ran straight to the dressing room and left the other band waiting. Pretty much everyone in my crew is an Arsenal fan. There are a few Man United fans and a couple of Spurs fans but they all get outnumbered on the tourbus.

xcellent decision, probably one of VERY few footballers who will be remembered as leaving the club after scoring the champions league winning goal with his very last kick! Not many get that tag in football!

Drogba confirms Blues departure

T

his is for the best, his hunger would be in serious question now after winning everything with us. A true Chelsea legend, up there with Osgood and Zola, come back and see us now and then Didier. And as Martin Tyler said on Saturday night....he is immortal at Chelsea. What a way to go out eh....Good luck big man wherever you land next.

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
