Davide Santon: Happy at Newcastle United

The 21-year-old was speaking in his homeland upon winning a recall to the Italy national squad, after spending more than a year in the international wilderness.

The former Inter Milan ace has been linked with a return, but he is playing well for Newcastle and insists he is happy in England

"Return to play in the Italian league? I always root for Inter Milan and I like Serie A but now I am fine in England and I am happy at Newcastle," he told Sky Sport Italia.

He also admitted his delight at the chance to add to his tally of seven caps.

"I'm happy to be back in Azzurri. I did not expect it and it was a good news, I'm glad to meet all my friends," he said.
