Cheick Tiote: Hopeful of getting over his disciplinary problems

The Ivorian has suffered a stop-start season for the Magpies following disciplinary problems.

And the 26-year-old is just one booking away from another enforced lay-off as Alan Pardew's men prepare to take on Premier League champions Manchester City.

Tiote has promised to get over the injuries and suspensions which have blighted his season.

But the player insists he will not change his hard tackling style which has made him such a firm favourite with the fans on Tyneside.

He said in the Daily Star: "It's been much more difficult for me this season. It is hard to play with injuries and suspensions.

"It has not just been bad for me but for the team too.

"We started well with a win over Tottenham but there have been far too many injuries and suspensions and we've been losing far too many.

"I have to be a lot more careful and play with more control."
