Loic Remy: Heading to Newcastle?

Loic Remy: Heading to Newcastle?

The 26-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in the past - most consistently Tottenham - but now seems set to fill the void left by Demba Ba at St James' Park.

Rumours that a deal has already been completed were compounded by Remy's Marseille team-mate Barton, who is on loan with the French giants from QPR.

Former Newcastle midfielder Barton tweeted: "Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don't worry I've told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him. #toonarmy."

Magpies manager Alan Pardew has been looking to strengthen his options in attack after star striker Ba departed for Chelsea.

Although Ba's exit may prompt Pardew to field Papiss Cisse in his preferred central role, Remy's arrival will provide increased competition for places in a Newcastle squad struggling to repeat last season's heroics.
