The Magpies added to their French legion with the signings of Mathieu Debuchy, Yoan Gouffran, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Massadio Haidara and Moussa Sissoko this month.

The arrivals take the tally of Frenchmen at Newcastle to nine, sparking memories of the success Thierry Henry, Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira enjoyed at Arsenal, and Carr claims the policy will continue.

"Will I go on signing players from Le Championnat? Yes, because I love France and the French players," Carr told L'Equipe.

"We sign them because we had a lot of success working with Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye. They are really good players - very professional, which is essential these days.

"They are clever, they understand quickly what we want and they have a very interesting tactical culture. Because French education is excellent, really.

"So our wish was to sign young players for the future like Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara and Sissoko. They are young and they will go on improving.

"I'm sure it will go smoothly. I don't agree with people who believe that the mass arrival of French players could cause trouble.

"Cabaye and Ben Arfa have adapted very well, just like Marveaux, and they speak English.

"We will try to get close to what Arsenal did - an excellent model - but we have to be realistic. Arsenal had Henry, Petit and Vieira, who were among the best players in the world. At Newcastle, that is not the case so far."
