Taylor has not figured for the Magpies since their opening fixture of the season, when he was sent off during a forgettable trip to Manchester City.

Since serving a ban, the 27-year-old has been nursing a hamstring strain which has kept him sidelined for the past month.

Taylor is, however, set to come back into contention for the home date with Liverpool on 19th October.

The international break will allow him to work on his sharpness and push for a place in Pardew's plans.

Haidara could also be welcomed back against the Reds, helping to shore up a back four which has already been breached on 12 occasions this season.

The 20-year-old left-back has been struggling with a knee complaint since the summer and is yet to make an appearance this term.

He is ready to step up his recovery, though, and is due to figure in a Steve Harmison testimonial contest between a United XI and a Northumberland XI on Thursday.

While Taylor and Haidara can see light at the end of the tunnel, promising defender Curtis Good has suffered another setback.

The 20-year-old Australian suffered a muscle injury during Monday's U21 Premier League draw with Bolton Wanderers and finds himself back on the treatment table.

Reserve team coach Willie Donachie told nufcTV: "It's a hamstring injury.

"I don't know how bad but he doesn't seem to be able to get a run of games going.

"So it's a shame for Curtis. He was just getting back to fitness and hopefully maybe going out on loan somewhere. But now he's injured again and it's put him back again."
